I just have to reiterate how much I love "God's Own Country". I can't even watch the last twenty minutes without tears streaming down my eyes and sniffling. I can't remember the last time a movie ever touched me so deeply.
Because I'm a freak about this movie, here's what one reviewer had to say:
"This is not a movie about coming out and the collateral damage that ensues. It's a universal tale about giving yourself over to love, even when you seem hopelessly broken."
Another: "Director/writer Francis Lee's electrifying feature debut is a working-class, fun-house mirror version of "Call Me By Your Name's" upper-class pretensions and is equally, if not more, rewarding because of it."
"To see O'Connor and Secareanu breathe life into these guarded men who choose to drop their defenses, and bring out each other's best selves in the process, is to watch a barren field grow lush and green."
"Earnest, honest, accurate, and unrelenting, this is the true romance of the countryside, dung-splattered boots and all."
"What impressed me most in Frances Lee's haunting debut is how it is so full of affection and tells so much even when the characters say very little in their scenes together, moving us with the intensity of their growing feelings for each other in a mostly silent, restrained way."
"Combining gritty realism with poignancy, the result is a film that is exceptionally moving."
"Though the film is being widely compared to Brokeback Mountain, writer/director Francis Lee actually creates a far more believable and sympathetic scenario." This one is dead on. BBM had nothing on this movie.
How did u watch btw? It's not available on my Netflix and I can't buy it on Google store or any other streaming service, freaking Russia urgh

I know. I supported it because I love it so much. This is where the movie is on YouTube. I already had it so I don't see any further buttons. It might be there as an option if you attempt to play the video.

I don't normally support piracy (though in the past I had an entire external HD devoted to all the movies, music and whatever that I downloaded) but if it's not possible to watch in Russia that might be your only option.

If you enjoy it, perhaps you can buy it at some later date when it's legally available.

I watched Alex Strangelove tonight. It was okay. The only thing is they spent so much time on his failing relationship with a female-and almost no time on his gay relationship that he ended up in. It was like the gay was the side story in a gay movie. Poor choice. Still not a bad movie, and the cast was very likable. 7/10 at least it ended well.

That's funny...I ended up watching that exact film last night! I enjoyed it, but yes I do agree with the spoiler bit.
Really liked Elliot and his dance scene.
Also managed to get two good songs out of the film, which was nice!

Anybody seen the new clip released for Love, Victor?
It’s the tv series sequel/follow up to the film Love, Simon.
Looks hella cute

I can't believe this hasn't been talked about yet here! Betty from "Rugrats" is now officially out and proud! I always joked about it but couldn't believe when I first heard the news! It's great to now have representation in one of my childhood shows - but I wish Kath Soucie was still voicing the character because it isn't the same without her!

Really excited for this one. The Child's Play franchise is continuing its tradition of being LGBTQ+ inclusive. This behind the scenes look at the new TV series confirms that the lead character is either gay or bisexual. Still have yet to see the reboot film...but I can't say I would even really care for it when the original story is still going strong to this day!

I have watched some of the RugBootrats. It's good! I was excited about the Betty choice, and I really hope that they get another season and look forward to what else they can do with the show! I think I watched the Child's play remake, and it turned out to be a sequel anyway? I forget...it did seem to tie into the timeline...but then again I might have it twisted. -shrug-

I'm really in the mood for a gay film. Anyone know of any good ones? You probably already saw it, but Netflix's "Single All the Way" is very good. I had put it off till today, cause I thought the idea of watching a gay Christmas movie on actual Christmas day would be neat. I'm glad I did, as it was worth the wait. I mean it's a cheesy made for tv/hallmark like movie-but still I love to see a happy gay movie!

This is Going to Hurt on the BBC has a gay or bi male character in the lead, he's an overworked junior doctor in an NHS maternity ward in the UK sometime between 2000-2010, it's based on the book by Adam Kay about his time working as a doctor in the NHS. It's quite good and a lot of people on twitter are saying its the best show of 2022 so far
