Sorry for changing the current topic, but I have to complain about something. Those ending artworks. It's so annoying that some of them are absolutely glorious ( Lucio, Craig) and some are... rather amateurish? Anatomical mistakes, rough lineart, weird shading etc etc. You can see the effort artists put into Craig and Lucio's card, and then you see Joseph's and Damien's card I don't like Hugo's card either. It isn't that bad, but still it's not on the same level like Lucio and Craig art. Every card should be done by the same artist who did Lucio's card and all character art to keep everything consistent aesthetically Or make sure every artist is pro, not amateur My main complain is about Damien and Joseph cards. I can give Hugo's card a pass, but still... meh. Robert and Brian cards are okay I guess... I just don't like those artstyles... ok, I can see some weird mistakes in Robert's card too. What's wrong with his cheeest

I know I saw them all, but my memory is kind of shit when comes to remembering enough to compare them that way. I do recall Craig's was good-but everything about Craig was pretty close to perfection for me. I don't even remember Joseph having one. I think I was checked out though. I might have even stopped the video before it got to his card.

The game's writing is pretty uneven- if they really wanted to make it a message about how not all romances are perfect, sticking it in a game that's been advertised as being primarily comedic is probably a bad call, and just makes for a sloppy distribution of tone. It's like an abrupt 180 on the whole dad jokes-puns- cute minigames train, which would probably be one of my biggest issues with that line of thinking.

While Dream Daddy might not be perfect and I don't agree with what the developers have been saying...I liked it and had fun with it. I spent a good ten hours with the game and it was pretty enjoyable. I absolutely love Robert and Joseph and will just continue to believe he got the happy ending he deserves. I'll probably end up playing it again sometime and enjoying it just as much as the first time. ...Also I've discovered that "Roseph" is a thing and I love it!

It's like the game is trying to be too many things at once, and it's way too short for the kind of depth they were aiming for. It ends up robbing the game of it's identity when they wander too far out of bounds.

Just read this latest controversy, it never ends apparently. Yeah... I wasn't able to comment on that particular piece because that article was making my browser rage for some reason, but I had major issues with that line. It seems judgemental of people who play dating sims. We're not talking about real life here; this is a game, and a game specifically geared toward forming romances through gamey mechanics. Players go into these games expecting certain things from them and it has nothing to do with how you treat people in real life. It's a dating sim ffs.Agreed. If they wanted to send some sort of deep message (that's totally inconsistent with the rest of the game's tone), this wasn't the game to do it with. You made a dating sim, and then complained that people were disappointed that one of your 7 options is effectively a tease? Give me a break. You built these characters up before launch, of course people would get excited. It's devious for the sake of being devious. It must be, because surely they didn't actually expect anyone to learn any sort of lesson. It's insulting to players' intelligence to think they don't understand that adultery is bad. If you make a dating sim, people will try to, you know, date people. Especially if there's a closeted gay in a loveless, unhealthy marriage. It's scary to think they actually thought them staying together is a good thing And it's insulting to devote 1/7 (or more with Mary etc.) of your resources into a path that's ultimately fruitless while everyone could have used more content. That may be the worst part, aside from the devs making themselves look more and more like idiots every time they type something. “We even had someone play it early on who sent us an email who was saying, ‘You know, when I got to the part where Robert kisses you, I felt a little uncomfortable, and I was analyzing why that made me feel uncomfortable and why I felt OK with it in every other form of media when it’s a straight couple,” Gray continued. “And that’s kind of exactly what we were trying to do to a certain extent." A queer woman feels uncomfortable when she sees gay guys kiss, but not straight couples? I'm struggling to understand this. "In many ways, Dream Daddy associates itself with gayness in order to garner a rubbernecking interest from straight people — “Men? Romancing each other? Using dad jokes? That’s hilarious!” — but if that’s what it takes to get well-written queer characters into the mainstream, that might ultimately be OK." what the actual...i have no words I don't even... We barely get any LGBT media and now it's aimed more at straight people than us? I sent Gray a tweet about her opinion about Joseph's marriage, that view is totally fucked up, and from a queer woman ... ew. Those kind of people might be the scariest... They walk among us Like self-hating women. It makes me so angry. I think it's the case of these ideas not meshing well with the packaging and presentation of the game as a whole. This sums up most of my thoughts. As others have said, this is just not the game to explore these kinds of things in, not if it's going to tout itself as a light-hearted, goofy dating sim, and not if it is a light-hearted, goofy dating sim in most ways. Many people mention Eldet here, but I haven't seen a link (probably missed it), so here it is *snip* Correct me if I'm wrong but the description I've seen for Eldet seems a tad misleading. "A focus on LGBT people" seems to mean "a focus on gay men" unless I'm missing something. It's fine if that's what it is, but I think they should be more clear if it isn't really focusing on all LGBT people. I admit that I was a bit tempted to refund this game but with this controversy and statements from some of the devs I keep seeing here, maybe it's time for me to do it. I do have 7-ish hours into it It makes me sad when the people who should have been your target audience are put off by your product. I will always go back to that. "Dream Daddy has some unfortunate endings" "...Could be worse. Could be Andromeda's m/m content upon launch." And for that, it earns brownie points. That's an incredibly low bar "The game specifically about men dating was better at m/m content than ME:A at launch." Well I would hope so!

After Andromeda, a LOT of m/m stuff to come out looked fucking good at that point. That's how disappointed I was. It's near impossible for Dream Daddy to disappoint me after that, especially since you can head-canon your dadsona as legitimately gay and having adopted Amanda. Although, come to think of it, a part of me does wish the Cult Ending for Joseph was a LEGIT ending. I mean, I'd applaud a game that sanely and seriously does the whole privileged white guy with "issues" is a literal demon. The signs and dialogue was there hinting at it. Why not play it to the hilt?

They (the devs) sent it to someone ELSE who played it and had that reaction. We don't know the gender or orientation of the person they sent it to. There are Ls and Gs and Bs (well, I dunno about these folks) and Ts in the story. One of the romance options is a transman. While all of the romance options are men, and the PC is male, the story features characters of all sorts. It's not a dating sim (which is why I like it); the romances are optional. So if you want to play it as a fantasy game with a bunch of LGBT people of color and not romance anyone, you can go ahead and do that. It's done by a gay man, so there are more men and the romances are men, but those other characters are there, yes. But it's not a giant sausage fest or anything; there are two women in just the prologue demo. Granted, this game will have more of a focus on the romances than something like Dragon Age (meaning more focus on the men), where that content makes up a smaller percentage of the whole, but they are still optional. As I understand it, it will play out very much like DA in that you meet various characters on your adventure, get to know them, go through their characters arcs, and have the option of forming a romance with them through dialogue. It's not like you pick a guy and pursue him, but is done in a more natural manner.

The game doesn't have other supernatural elements in it, so something like this just seems to come out of nowhere. (As a disclaimer, I'll say first that I am NOT a person of faith.) Frankly, I would have preferred if they had him be bi, and not in the closet, to show a positive view of a person of faith who is accepted by their church and also is comfortable with their own sexuality. Then if they want to make the marriage bad for whatever reason -- shit happens, people change, etc -- they can do that without having it be a statement about his sexuality or faith. To me, Joseph is a missed opportunity on so many levels, that I don't truly understand what the devs were trying to do with him at all.

Was the update already posted here?
Fixed inconsistency in mother/father choice during the intro. You know how forgetful Dads can be but that was a bit much. Corrected other consistency errors based on player choices during the intro, especially during the cookout. Fixed a variety of animation/character movement/transition bugs throughout the game. Also fixed a handful of grammar, spelling, and dialogue issues throughout the game. Fixed an issue that caused Joseph's twins to randomly reappear in the Diner in Craig's path. We're not always gonna be around to fight your battles for you, but this was a weird one. Those kids had to go. Rebalanced choices related to Amanda so it should be easier to see her bad ending. Honestly we're not sure why you'd want to do that, it seems like you two have a nice relationship. Quizzmaster Quinn is more talkative now. Did some work in the backyard. The old tree is looking more idyllic than ever. Adjusted texture settings, solving Daisy's weird pixelated appearance. She's a high-quality kid and doesn't deserve such low-quality treatment. Tweaks and balancing for the Hugo Date 1 minigame. Tweaks and balancing for the Brian date 1 minigame. A competitive Dad should get a reward for beating all 18 holes now. Brand new, fully Dad minigame during Robert Date 2.

Believe me, I wish things were different and that's a want I know all too well. But you also had dialogue with Mary hinting that Joseph wasn't all that he was cracked up to be and Robert telling you that Joseph was a bad person (and how it was painted as a lover's spat was... jarring). Then you had all the little symbols popping up a few times. But how Joseph's story turned out, it feels like it's in limbo and it doesn't know which way it should go. And quite a bit of the cult stuff is well on its way there before you got the queer man of faith and struggling with it story.

If you're not okay with that on some level, why would you play it, or even consider playing it?

A queer woman feels uncomfortable when she seems gay guys kiss, but not straight couples? I'm struggling to understand this. You are misreading the quote. Gray herself is queer. They (the devs) sent it to someone ELSE who played it and had that reaction. We don't know the gender or orientation of the person they sent it to. I found the source of my confusion: “We even had someone play it early on who sent us an email who was saying, ‘You know, when I got to the part where Robert kisses you, I felt a little uncomfortable, and I was analyzing why that made me feel uncomfortable and why I felt OK with it in every other form of media when it’s a straight couple,” Gray continued. It says "Gray continued" even though it looks like the playtester is still speaking. Strange formatting. Still, I stand by my opinion that a queer person should know better than to say that a loveless, unhealthy marriage involving a closeted gay is something you should want to keep intact! Anyone should know better. Correct me if I'm wrong but the description I've seen for Eldet seems a tad misleading. "A focus on LGBT people" seems to mean "a focus on gay men" unless I'm missing something. Okay, thank you both for the info. I hadn't seen much about it other than a bunch of male LIs, and I didn't want to jump the gun on judging it, so I asked. Or, technically I didn't ask, but I was serious about the "Correct me if I'm wrong" I hope the game does well as it seems to actually be made for LGBT people (mainly) as opposed to Dream Daddy, sadly. Fixed inconsistency in mother/father choice during the intro. You know how forgetful Dads can be but that was a bit much. Further evidence that the dead husband choice was added after people complained. They missed a few spots where the game still thought you had a wife. It's lame, but at least they fixed it. And before launch (even if it had to be delayed), unlike Jaal. *Sigh* One day, we won't have to deal with these sorts of issues anymore
