I'm liking the fanarts. I think it's a bit of a missed opportunity in depicting different body types, though. It feels very artificial that all of these dads (minus Brian's canon belly) look exactly the same as hyper sexualised superheroes. I would like to see some fanart with dadbods, with lean and fit but not cut bods, with average bods. IMO really only Craig should have a lot of muscle definition. Once guys are past their 20's it's very difficult to keep a perfect gym bod unless one has Craig's lifestyle.
Part of the point of this is dating outside of the traditional 20 something male models...

I would've liked to see a dad character who has canonically adopted his kid instead of one out of marriage. For all its strives for inclusiveness, I'd like to see adoption taken seriously outside of your father-daughter relationship, considering that the reality is that there are many kids, particularly lgbt+ kids, without biological parents to care for them. To see that represented in a game like this would be pretty great, and I'm holding out for it if they're going ahead with DLCs.

Damien's son is actually weirdly not present at all in his romance runthrough. Like, he's there, but you never really learn too much about him or what his story is. He's almost more set decoration than anything else.

I think that the developers didn't anticipate how popular the game would be and didn't expect the content to be analysed more than light dating sim. It seems like they have been fairly responsive to the community, though, with changing the game pre-release to allow for Amanda's other parent to also have been male. So hopefully they are listening to feedback from the community and realising this is much more meaningful to people than they had expected. I would be happy if they released DLC which treated LGBT issues a bit more seriously while keeping the light dad dating humor vibe. And if they release another similar game I would hope they would be able to find a better balance between silly dating sim with dad jokes and having a positive portrayal of LGBT families in the modern world. Yeah Damien's route barely goes into his family life; no mention of past partner and little involvement from his son. I found it unbalanced that he doesn't have much dad content while the rest do (except Robert but that makes sense given his story). |

But I won't write a soliloquy about it here. And you have a good point about how this game specifically should have done so, especially given it's drawn, so it shouldn't have been that hard to do. |

I'm getting the impression that if the cult-ending becomes a dlc (or when, more like it), there's gotta be some sort of twist or catch to it. Just a hunch... I just think it's a little weird that they're letting this slide across the fandom and not saying much on the matter. Also, I kinda want them to do the whole CooT thing where they introduce more dads in later updates of the game. I want to draw a pin up for one of them to be included in the game. "Hey, guys, hire me, I got cred!". |
