I'm creating this thread for anyone who wants to share their thoughts, strategies, and hopes for Pillars of Eternity and it's upcoming sequel. Also if anyone has some great PoE fanart they'd like to share, this is the place to do it!
For those unfamiliar with the game, it's an isometric RPG in the style of Baldur's gate and Icewind Dale. However unlike those titles it does not draw from the Dungeons and Dragons rulebooks, instead it has it's own lore, classes, and rulesets. You take on the role of a "watcher". A person with the innate ability to observe and even interact with the very souls of the people around you, as you attempt to unravel a conspiracy which threatens an entire country.
You are able to recruit any or all of eight unique companions along your journey. Or conversely you may create a party entirely of your own design, though they would subsequently lack any dialogue and banter.
I look forward to hearing everyone's thoughts on the Watcher's companions, as well as discussions of what your favorite classes might be, and what abilities and tactics you find to be most useful on your journeys!

Holaaaaa! I dont know a thing about the game but this little guy   Serafen is sooo cute and blueeeeeeeeeee  It seems there will be romances in the second game sooooo this franchise has my attention. I dont mind isometric camera, I loved games like Baldur Gate Dark Alliance, Marvel Ultimate Alliance, X-Men Legends etc etc so far so good  I hope there will be same sex romances though, I have a good bunch of games to play, but if the game let me to be gay in a romance the game goes to the top of my games to play immediately. About the POE1 companions, the blond guy has my total attention, but the other non-humans (except the elf-like dude) are cool, without knowing their personalities I would be happy for any of them to be my boyfriend  The bird woman is BEAUTIFUL. edit. Hrm, I'll start off by saying that I was an early kickstarter of the game, cause I kind of love the old isometric crpgs. Pillars of Eternity is a great game that kind of drives me crazy. I have serious problems with restarting a game with a new character over and over in most games, but PoE cranks that quirk up all the way. That said, my favorite classes are Druid (cause I love Druids), Priest (cause i love healing), and Rogue, because if I am unable to disarm a single trap or unlock a door it HAUNTS me. My latest character is an Aumaua Chanter though. He's more or less a mix of everything. Decent disarm skills, he has some healing up his sleeve, and if I end up buying PoE 2 I can multiclass him with druid! The portrait i went with, I love Aumaua cause i love water, so semi amphibious races work for me! Also, Davrin's boobs , the Druid class gets to shapeshift once per fight into werewolf / werebears / werestags, etc... and in the sequel you'll be able to make any companion into any class, so technically your party can be one big clan of werewolves.   |

Oh my gawd  how many companions can follow you at once? and how many kind of magical classes there are? I'm a mage trash™, the druid sounds super interesting. edit. I'm digging in their gamepedia, is this furry heaven?     edit2. Without knowing a shit, I think the wizard class is my kind of class  druid is cool but that would be perfect for a boyfriend, not me same with other rogue-like and warrior-like classes |

Party of 6, so 5 companions. In the first game there's only one scripted druid companion, Hiravias, who is my 2nd favorite behind only Eder. Seriously he's so dirty I love him. You could technically take him and make 4 other druids for a full shifter party in PoE 1. But I still recommend taking Eder, cause he's just so freakin adorable.  |

Ark five companions at once sounds aaaaaaaaaaaaawesome, it's cool you can customize companions but I'd rather stick with the official ones Hiravias is super handsome, and that conversation was cool XD if I play the game, Hiravias, Eder and Pallegina (thank you gamepedia) are going to have forever spot in the gang. I saw the spell list for the Wizard class and there're a lot of elemental magic there, so yes, Wizard is the way to go Oh I'm watching the portraits and I cant decide which one I like more, maybe this one because it leaves a lot to imagination  edit. Sagani has a fox companion, well it seems she will join to the forever spot in the gang

While I wasn't able to back PoE on kickstarter in 2015, I made sure to back PoE2 this time around! My fav classes are Priest and Wizard. I love the priests ability to cast huge support aoe that buffs the entire party in epic ways while also being able to use some high dmg offensive spells, like pillar of fire. It got even better with the additional priest spells that came with the White March expac. The option to have a few spells that reflect your chosen God is always so cool too. Wizard is just awesome by default with the huge arsenal of high damage elemental spells, along with the myriad of hexes, buffs and curse type spells. I find PoE's archmage group that the spells are often named after very intriguing. (Concelhaut, Minoletta etc) My main priestess is a very cruel Death Godlike who worships Skaen. She's a former slave from Old Vailia who just hates life. She was so much fun to play through the game as, seeing as I usually have a hard time being mean to people...NOT THIS TIME THOUGH! Go Skaen.   My main wizard is a female Pale Elf that I'm still working on finishing the game with. Shes my benevolent character. If there's game importing into PoE2 (which I think there is), shell be the one I import first. I don't want to go in with everyone hating me right off the bat if I use my priestess...LOL. And the Death godlike woman is scary, and I like it  I'm kinda boring when it comes to my "canon" characters because it's always human for me, but for companions the more non-humans the better, and if my LI is non-human = dream come true. Although with Eder and his KISA animal-loving personality I dont know if my kink for non-humans will win this time XD that video is interesting, I hope they confirm who will be the romance options and I truly hope is all bi approach, it sucks for representation but seriously fuck it, personally it sucked everytime Bioware did set sexualities. I'm usually the same with my boring HUMAN OR ELF only canons. PoE was the first rpg in awhile that actually made me sit there for a bit at character creation and want to read all the options and look through all the different races! Godlike is definitely my fav race to come out in a LONG time. VERY SEXY AND AWESOME. With PoE2 the rendering is already going to be upgraded and great and they said that the Godlike have undergone character model upgrades so that their Godlike uniqueness IS EVEN BETTER NOW. SOME POE2 GODLIKES Fire Godlike player character option  Some Player Character Moon Godlikes  The Beautiful Pallegina (Avian Godlike)  I haven't seen any yet but I'm hoping they do some new Death Godlike renders that look like this  YA IM OBSESSED WITH GODLIKES NOT SORRY. tekēhu i cant wait... Eder is so adorable when he interacts with Saganis fox Itumaak! The party banter is great. You can also find animals to put in your "Pet Slot" that follow you around the world. My fav is a half undead kitty I saved from some psycho woman in a dungeon basement.  Eder keeps wanting to pet her too. I hope they confirm LI's as well. I agree an all Bi approach would be the most ideal. Lets keep hoping! Romances just enhance the entire adventure in general and it's even better when you can romance whoever you want without worrying about if they'll be available for your character.  |

YA IM OBSESSED WITH GODLIKES NOT SORRY. I was expecting to go crazy for the Nature Godlikes, but the portraits for the males were pretty... silly? I found a custom one online that was more to what I was hoping for, though it's certainly a different feel than the base game's. |

I read some about the Godlikes and they are pretty much demigods so I understand the appeal I hope Pallegina will like girls because I would like to role a female PC to romance her, she's so pretty  |

I'm here to vouch for Eder and how amazing he is. He never left my party, ever! I always had Eder, Aloth, and Sagani with me. I typically also had Pallegina and Grieving Mother with me but would switch them out when necessary for companion quests. I love Sagani so much. She has to be my favorite dwarf companion in anything! I loved her personality, her story, and her pet Itumaak. Some of her banter with Eder was hilarious. I loved Eder's need to pet every animal he found. It was pretty sweet that he even interacts with the party's pets. My character was a human aristocrat from The White That Wends. He was a ranger with a wolf animal companion. I mainly used a bow, but would occasionally swap out to a sword and shield. I'm definitely going to get some artwork commisioned of my Watcher and Eder when I have some money to spare. I'm looking forward to the second game, but my excitemewnt will only increase if we get confirmation on Eder's sexual orientation. If he's bisexual... I know I said that I cant play right now, but I'm totally creating my character later lol fuck u college oh guize, you have to inform me how many story dlcs exist and when to play them! There are 2 story DLC's. They are (I think) balanced around levels 7-8, and 13+? however you have the option to scale them UP to your current level. So if you save them till the end of the game you'll be ok. I would maybe recommend setting the difficulty to Story mode for the first playthrough. There's a lot of mechanics to learn at first, no need to throw frustration into that. |
