Welp, that was some colourful Euro trash. 3-Tage Bart - three-day beard - is what we say for designer stubble. The song is about how a gentleman might have a fancy car, sweet clothes, great hair, and a nice ass, but unless he's got Don Johnson-style stubble he won't mean anything to the ladies. The song gets progressively more and more extra, with hilariously unnecessary double entendres and preposterous slang ("ein sauber geshaveter 3-Tage Bart, oder 'beard', wie wir 'Cool-People' sagen" - a properly-shaven designer stubble, or 'beard', as we 'Cool People' say; the bit about "Geili-Geili-Super-Typ" would be kind of like calling someone "cooli-cooli-coolio" in English) until it finally gets so silly at the end that they can't even look at the camera anymore without laughing. Some Anglo anthropologist did a study on the band a couple-three years back and talked about how their songs are just drenched in sex and anti-fascist protest and pure human id and whatnot, which isn't, y'know, wrong, but he totally missed how they're also intentionally ridiculous, self-aware, and funny as shit. |
