The thing is though, my personal suspicion is that once he let's you in on his personal life, he's not nearly as grumpy or stoic as he let's one. Its more of a precaution than a defining character trait.

(minus the may have bit) I mean I want a really romantic romance in a game soon too, but I'll take an Angaran any which way I can. (as long as I'm playing as a man) |

I think he'll never turn into Jaal and he'll probably always be somewhat abrasive and sarcastic, but he does have his moments of 'angaran honesty' even in the game. I mean, he already openly says things like "I love the Moshae", stuff that isn't emotionally damaging at the moment. Once he had let someone in (...  ), I don't think he would find it necessary to pretend he doesn't like them. If he weren't afraid his emotions could run very deep and true, he wouldn't need to shut himself off in the first place, after all. |

when does he say that and why cant I remember? That he loves the Moshae? I think it's in the vidcon conversation after you win his trust and when he gives you the task to rescue her. I think you have to obscure the fact that you're going to use SAM to hear it, if you tell him about the AI he says something different. The fact that I'm even able to pinpoint it to that degree probably says unfortunate things about my obsession with this character. |

holy shit that sounds cringy written but I'd like.. I don't lie in videogames at all,, why would I?

My favourite conversation is when you attack the flagship and save the ark and he tells you "not bad". Ryder says "Was that a compliment? I might have to sit down" and he goes "Do it somewhere else." I mean, that's still being a dick, but that kind of response is actually a little playfrul rather than actively hostile. |

I also really liked that moment as it felt like one of the better written scenes of the game no matter how short it was. It gave some clear character progression without being to much 'in your face' about it. |

I spent the last two days writing 20.000 words worth of Evfra/Jaal fanfic (this is what happens to you when you're unemployed, kids) and that fried my brain so bad that I actually started dreaming of Evfra tonight. There was a quest where you have to go in and save him from kett who had captured him, it had different endings and all. Now tbf since it was a dream it also made zero sense because it happened on the Overwatch Anubis map (?) which my family was having a vacation on while the game was happening (???) but anyway, the point is...
If you had to write your perfect Evfra-centred DLC, would Evfra be a temporary squadmate? The Princess Peach? Both? Neither? I'm personally partial to post-game DLC, when he already likes Pathfinder a bit. You have to go in to save him from some big bad (because awesome space hero fantasies) and once you find him he joins your team for extra Fighting Couple cool points and starts his romance path with Scott.
