Communication has really been the key issue from the start. Yeah, here it could go in our favour, sure; maybe they just don't want the reddit brigade whining for two months about changing a character to please SJWs weeeeeeh. However, considering I'm convinced the no talky approach on romances before the game shipped was the result of them damn well knowing they neglected the m/m side and hoping they could get away with it, I have a hard time trusting this is a good sign. You know, more people should be following you on here, I'm the only one. People! Follow this awesome girl! Haha, thank you. (rofl) Of course, most of what I post is Evfra spam because... Evfra. Oh man, you wanna know something? I was talking to a friend a day before the Prima guide leak and we were speculating on the romances, and I was like, it actually has to be Jaal, from the little I know. They don't usually let you romance krogan (to the chargrin of some, I know) and your starter package male and female human companions are ususally the straight ones (at least in the game in which they are introduced). So Liam is probably out and Drack is probably out, leaving only Jaal. Tfw I hadn't even considered the possibility that there wouldn't be an m/m squadmate because that seemed so backwards for a Bioware game at this point.

Every now and then I think about it and I still can't believe there's not even one m/m squadmate.

From making Kaidan bi and adding Steve....to Gil and Reyes. WAT. Nothing wrong with Reyes or Gil as characters but an obvious step backwards in representation in ME IMO. Thats why I hope so hard for bi Jaal to happen

However, at the same time I sort of feared it might some day happen when they kept pushing the not team romances in Dragon Age and Mass effect both. I was worried it was all a test run to see if people would go for those at all, and then they could push the gay romances into those positions. I hate when my crazy paranoid thoughts come to life.

It seems like this whole year has been one paranoid thought after another being reborn into something real, for me at least. I am shocked, confused, and generally just a mess because of Nov 2016 until present. Jaal was going to be my escapist savior, and all I received was Gil and Reyes. :/

I just kept repeating that whenever anyone would start to panic. Thanks biower, crow is tasty.

He's a brand new race, their favourite character they said, everyone loved him the second they saw him, and they decided not to make him available to both genders. How utterly incompetent of them.

BioWare knew they were failing us, or they wouldn't have refused to answer the question about "is there a m/m squad-mate romance?" It sucks hardcore.

I hope this thread will explode regardless of whether he'll be made bi or not. I need a large amount of both salt as well as sweetness in my life.

I want everyone to come here everyday to talk about their romance with him. I want happiness here. Please let it happen! I would honestly do a new play through if we could romance him. If that's even combined with a decent Quarian DLC ark on the horizon I might even do a multiplayer mission...maybe.

Oh, wait.

Considering the Angara were a brand new alien species they had perfect opportunity to not only give players an m/m squadmate, but to also give them an alien squadmate, something m/m has never had in the Trilogy. Considering everything they hyped the Angara, and Jaal up to be, finding him straight was just so ??? like, did it never once cross their minds that this character they kept secret and then hyped up, and everyone proclaimed to love, might be something m/m players would also want? It feels like a step backward and a slap to the face. (If I hear happy with the specifics one more time I might scream.)
I hope Jaal will be made bi as he should have been with this patch, but I am full of salt and disappointment toward Bioware and I expect just the bare minimum from them. If they couldn't be bothered to give players an m/m squad romance (despite clearly knowing that Kaidan was received well by a lot of m/m players) to start with, I don't expect they'll do much more now than give extra scraps. I know I'll be very wary of any future Bioware games, and hope that it doesn't infect the Dragon Age series.
