As much as I appreciate that the game offered a character who is into BDSM who is not either villified or abusive, I've always been bothered by the fact that Bull's romance doesn't have like a chaste alternative - as a character, I love Bull. But legit, bondage is WAY outside my wheelhouse, my comfort zone. Why does 'needing to let go' have to be a sexual thing?
Hell, sometimes I feel like the game's writing is laughing at the whole thing, like the lock-in scene, where everyone walks in on the Inquisitor and Bull. The whole motivation for that scene as staged just feels like 'naked people are funny,' rather than giving any attention to the emotions between the Inquisitor and Bull.
It's a major frustration for me, since I can't romance Cullen and I don't recruit Dorian.

^ The "everyone walks in on them" scene was funny, but it was pretty clearly intimate and romantic before and after everyone bursts in. He's speaking softly to the Inquisitor, it's the first time he calls them kadan, etc. And it's not like the rest of his BDSM scenes are played for laughs. On another note, I found Iron Zev fanart. |

It is a bit of a strange ride, but in some ways the kind of annoying bits that made me think this romance would be trashy from start to finish-is why I actually found it so amazing. It's like I went in expecting a huge dumpster fire-but instead I got a really shockingly intimate romance from a guy I didn't really think twice about before launch. I think if someone would have told me he'd wind up my favorite before launch I'd of said "you are insane...look at Dorian-he's a god!" I was so innocent and so wrong.  |
