Hey all!
Here's the thread to discuss any ideas about adding content to Mass Effect Andromeda for any upcoming dlc('s).
I'll start with something character related, it's something I also posted in the general discussion thread but that might not have been the best place to do that.
My initial ideas are more well thought out roles, content and even (a) mission(s) for characters such as Kallo, Suvi, Gil and Lexi, that could be woven into the open story lines the writers already set up in the original game.
Some ideas for those characters:
Gil: Once they find the Quarian ark, Gil's talent of improvising with advanced tech is instrumental in saving the ark itself. In addition you need his help in safely opening certain pods of the Ark's crew as the SAM responsible is either critically damaged or has been disposed off by Reaper/Geth infiltrators abroad the Ark. Based on his advice you get to send the other recruited Pathfinders across the Ark to intervene, maybe even have one of the Pathfinders as a temporary squad mate once you reach them to help them out even further. How you perform during the mission will determine the remaining start population of each species aboard the ark (and to what degree the species appears in the games hubs & surroundings) while having larger consequences in future games when it comes to (political) power balances between the species in Heleus and Andromeda.
Lexi: Anti-Krogan extremists create a virus based on the research of genetic augmentation performed on the Krogan during their travel to Andromeda and intents to eradicate the Krogan colony on Elaadan with it. This particular plot line would involve Lexi's expertise as she has extensive knowledge on Krogan physiology, fertility and exo-genetic research. They could also combine some added content for other characters by involving Drack a bit and even Reyes if part of the story would take it to a new part of Kadara (maybe a restored waterfront now that the planet is restored by a Remnant Vault?). In the end the mission takes you to an installation on Elaadan itself, at the bottom of a large sinkhole near New Tuchunka. Aside from stopping the virus from being released, you also discover an new location to either extend the Krogan colony or provide a place for Drell colonists to settle. You have to make that choice, the larger consequences of which will be felt in later games. In MEA, choosing the Drell to colonize the spot would lead to the AI outpost having more Drell than Krogan and the main spaceport being expanded with some quest givers added to the main colony. If you choose to give it to the Krogan, the main spaceport is also expanded with some quest givers but there is tension in the AI outpost as other races start to feel uneasy about the Krogan's fast progress in relation to their own.
Kallo: Part of the original design and construction team Kallo worked with actually make it to Andromeda on the Salarian as well as the Quarian Ark. After the initial happy reunion, not all is well it seems. It turns out that they actually ascribe to a 'Salarian first, aliens second' philosophy similar to Cerberus. Before the Quarian Ark left they managed to stow away several new warships based on the Tempest class design with the official intent of protecting the Ark. After the Ark gets in trouble, they manage to escape, leaving the Ark to fend for itself.
The ships may be relatively small in comparison to the warships back in the Milky Way but with the Nexus itself seriously under powered and the AI's general lack of military vessels, they lack the capability to stop them outright. Kallo evidently wants to stop them and you need his piloting skills more then ever to outsmart and outrun the updated vessels. In the end, you have to choose to either destroy or use the vessels for the Andromeda Initiative. This could upstage the power balance both within the AI as well as in Heleus in general.
Suvi:
After the arrival of the Quarian ark, the Drell, Hanar and Elcor aboard will want to settle on a place suitable for them as well. As Eos seems to be an ideal candidate she suggests to work on a rapid expansion of the colony. In order to do so they need greater access to resources on the planet itself.
Beneath the surface they discover that aside from Remnant tech, aquifers and underground rivers...Eos also contains a vast cavern system filled with fresh water with some of the planets original flora and fauna from before Remnant started to tamper with the planet. This mission could involve both Suvi as well as some of the scientists on the Nexus. Finally, maybe involve one or two of the recruited Pathfinders as well. Eventually you find that the original ecology is quite dangerous, but also could benefit Quarian and Turians immensely as it's dextro amino based. There are consequences however, extracting more fresh water will damage the remaining ecology significantly to the point of extinction but does allow for expansion of the existing colony and the Drell to settle. Choosing to save the remaining ecology leads to Quarians and Turians getting more say on Eos and are able to settle it in full. But the overall presence on Eos remains more limited because of lower resources. In MEA this leads to the original settlements of 'Promise' & 'Resilience' being turned into a large second settlement when choosing the first option. While if you choose the second only 'Resilience' is being reclaimed with a primarily Turian/Quarian population.
