Should have been an option from the get go as I'm somewhat sure he was originally intended to be bisexual but they scrapped it for raisins. Just like they did with Jaal. ♪ Tell me lies tell me sweet lil lies Bioware♪ I'm curious what the "official" reason was for this. Funny how it's always the gay content that gets conveniently cut. "Story reasons", "it has to make sense to the character."

I'm curious what the "official" reason was for this. His writer said that he always saw Kaidan as bi and that EA didn't block it. I'm thinking Casey.

I think they fear enraging the dudebros more than anyone. Although I think the dudebros are going to bitch no matter how feminine they make the female love interests.

I'd make a Cora thread if BioWare would just admit that she seriously crushed on asari and almost certainly has messed around with them. But Bioware has to have the first two squad mates straight as arrows. It is demanded by the gods. Kaidan was one of the first two squadmate (the other being Jenkins). We never learn the sexuality of Jenkins and while they hemmed and hawed about it, we did eventually learn that Kaidan was not, in fact, straight. So...no, they don't have to do any such thing.

I forget where I saw this, so it's possible I'm misremembering, but what I remember seeing was that originally in ME1 all romances were bisexual, but the developers decided to make Kaidan and Ashley exclusive to the opposite sex as a way to encourage replays of the game. They looked at the romances much like they did the gender of Shepard, the different classes and different choices and thought that locking romances with gender would encourage players to switch things up all the more. It's a commendable idea in theory, I think.

Accept you can only romance one character anyway so it adds no replay at all-and it excluded gay male players from having even one option. So yeah, commendable idea? not in my book.

It's a commendable idea in theory, I think. Supposedly they had Meers and Hale record all lines for...reasons. I don't really understand it. It was then that the idea was kicked around to make A/K bisexual but was rejected because "it didn't make sense" or some such bullshit. If just the guys I dated (never mind the random hookups) had to "make sense" I'd probably have been celibate for most of my life.
