Well, they did say that Greedfall would have a male/female protagonist in an interview. Yeah I heard that during E3, so I'm very interested so see how that game turns out.

The Technomancer developers wanted to include female main character, but they were short on cash..
Ah, yes, female MC was too expensive. Never heard that one before

I tried Technomancer-but it was during that dark period right after Mass Effect Andromeda released-so I don't think I really gave it a fair shot. I will have to try it again sometime in the near future. Those of you who played it, could you tell me what class is easiest to play? I found it rather hard when I tried it before. I think I went for the magic type class, and it was kind of rough for me. Is the tank build easier, or should I go for like pure strength or what? Tell me the secret to ass kick in the game. I guess I'm a unicorn by saying that I absolutely love The Technomancer. I can't get my mind off of it and the romance with Andrew. It's one of a few games that has done this to me and I care so much for. I'd be totally biased in saying you should definitely give it another chance!!! I played through the game on normal as a warrior with some of the Techomancer tree as well. The staff has great range and can hurt multiple enemies at once as well as stun them and knock them down. My advice? Learn to dodge, don't be afraid to use your items, use the pause wheel if needed to plan your moves, and work on crafting and upgrading your weapons and equipment as well as those of your companions. You get more than enough serum in the game to buy more health items and components for crafting. Crafting in this game is much simpler (and better) than what BioWare does. Using traps when you are outnumbered CAN save your life and prevents a lot of frustration. Don't be afraid to use them. I must've had a million stockpiled by the end of the game, and they were VERY generous woth that stuff in boxes at the end. With enough practice, you will be able to master the combat system and it can be very fun. Also....Andrew is totally amazing! He won't dethrone Jaal, but I think you will like him. Davrin's boobs Just in case you need some tips as well. @lukensen Your Zach is very handsome!

It's simple, choose easy difficulty and them specialize in ''Technomancer'' (like magic ) skills That's what I did. I died a LOT. I guess I'll just have to practice if I go back into it. Was hoping I had picked a bad build. Yeah I played on easy as a rogue and reached a point where I died five times in a row and went full rage quit. I think that was in April and I still haven't given it a second shot yet.

Honestly for me I felt like I was forever getting shot by people that were not even on the screen cause of the shit camera angles I didn't even know those shooters existed. sigh...so I was just like "How do I dodge what I don't know exists? Spiders have shown they are completely onboard with m/m romance which is fantastic but they also said women are an optional extra in their game, somthing that can be easily cut out for budget reasons. So even though Greedfall currently has both male & female protagonists, from their comments about Technomancer they could decide to cut that out again if the run into delays or start to go over budget. And look, I'm not trying to ruining anyones enjoyment of the game, as I have said multiple times, it is fantastic that there is a m/m romance and I love reading all of you discuss how much you like it. It just stings a bit to be told I should buy a game from devs who seem to consider a female protag an easily cut extra just because they are a small dev and they did think about adding one, so that is almost as good as adding one and they need the money. Greedfall looks good and if they keep both male & female protagonists, they'll get my money but I'm not going to buy a game I'm already disappointed in just for the hope that Greedfall will continue to have a male & female protagonist.

There are still so many games that we can't choose gender, (Tomb Raider, The Witcher, Uncharted, Horizon etc) and theirs developers have much more money than Spiders and still doing it... I wish us all that someday all games will let us choose from both genders and with LGBTQ characters and romances in them One can dream right?

There are still so many games that we can't choose gender, (Tomb Raider, The Witcher, Uncharted, Horizon etc) and theirs developers have much more money than Spiders and still doing it... I wish us all that someday all games will let us choose from both genders and with LGBTQ characters and romances in them One can dream right? That is different. Those games were designed to have a set character of set gender. Crystal Dynamics never said 'oh we wanted to give a gender option but we ran out of money' They said 'this is Tomb Raider, Lara Croft is the protag' Dontnod wanted to make a game about teenage girl so they did, now they are making on about a male Vampire. Fans of Dontnod can of course express their disappointment that after 2 female led games, they are now doing a male led one, challenge their thinking on it and highlight how few female led games there still are, but regardless of their logic behind doing so, their original idea for the game was to have a male led. Spiders wanted to have both genders, they even began to design the game with two genders (potentially the reason why there is m/m romances is because they had begun to design romances for both & then once the cut happened it was just as easy to leave all the romance options in, rather than cut out the male ones too) and then cut out that option, like it was unimportant. And that is their decision, they only have so much budget and they have to design what to put in and what to cut out but that doesn't mean I should be happy with the fact that they thought of it and buy the game so they have a bigger budget for Greedfall. Believe you me, I am the first person to complain when a new game gets released and it's protag is just another generic brown hair guy, even if that was the vision for the game but it is different when a company actively decides against having a female protag, not because of the story or the vision of the game, but because of budget or 'risk'. I mean if they only had budget for one protag, why cut the female one and not the male one? As far as I can see from comments about the game, there would be no difference to it if Zachariah were a woman. The fact that they did that indicates they think of male as the default gender for a protagonist, which is a big problem in the game industry (in media in general really) that I don't feel like rewarding.

It's true that the could have chosen a female main character instead of a male character, but with the m/m romance included, they have proven me that they care not only for dudebros, just that. It's like Prey, the female Morgan another set protagonist has a s/s LI, I'd rather be happy for that instead of be sad and mad about how male Morgan is another cis-het hero (I'm debating to put the game on my list to buy for fem!Morgan, but I hate FPS with passion ). I dont know, I think it's unfair putting Spiders in the same bag as Bioware that they have proven with DAI that they can do it better than MEA, but Spiders is slowly growing, and I hope Greedfall is super great!

But hopefully this won't happen anyway and we won't need to worry about it!

I dont know, I think it's unfair putting Spiders in the same bag as Bioware that they have proven with DAI that they can do it better than MEA, but Spiders is slowly growing, and I hope Greedfall is super great! I understand where you are coming from. No dev is perfect and it's all about what is important to a gamer. Personally I'd be more willing to give small devs like Spiders slack over things like graphics & voice acting than cutting a female protag, because that is important to me and I hold all devs to the same standard when it comes to that, but I don't hold them to the same standard when it comes to technology or other aspects of their game. Prey is a good example, one of the reasons I'd recommend it is because of the s/s relationship for female Morgan but I'd understand why player who views m/m relationships as very important to them might not want to play it. And it's not like Spiders are like THQ Nordic who have been very assholish about a female protag in Elex. I just don't think it is off base to be disappointed and decide not to buy a game when any dev, no matter their size, gives the impression that including a female protag just isn't that important to them. I'm not telling to do anything, I'm just stating that for me is not all black and white and Spiders is a small company so it's not like Bioware/EA, and with Greedfall in the horizon they have shown that they care when they have the money. I really hope that they are true to word because Greedfall looks fun and I'd love to be able to give Spiders my support and money.

Did they originally announce it would have both female and male PC and then they changed it, or was it never publicized as having an option, and only after release they explain that they had to cut female PC during development? Because if the latter, then it's probably a good chance they can't scale back Greedfall and remove a female PC after having already advertised that as a feature. People would justifiably be very upset and it would be bad publicity if they remove female PC option after everyone thinks it will be in the game.

I'll keep these tips when I play the game in september or so I have so many games to play XD My sister bought Life is Strange and The Last of Us months ago, and I havent played those yet! I was the same way! In my younger days I always preferred the female protagonist or female characters when they were an option! It wasn't until Chris Redfield and Shepard that I ended up with a preference for gay male protagonists. Being able to play as a gay male really changed gaming for me and opened up a whole new world. It's why I am happy we have games like Technomancer. I do hope you enjoy it when you get around to playing it! I also have several games to play that I haven't touched...not just on PC but on older consoles as well! At the moment, I have much more faith/interest in Spiders than I do BioWare. They proved with just one game that not only can they handle m/m romance properly, but they are capable of creating an interesting world/RPG. I am very excited for Greedfall. BioWare has failed me with the last two games as well as in the romance department in every Dragon Age game AND Gil's lack of content/awful homophobic story. Lee Yeah, find a style that you feel most comfortable with and go from there! I think you could do well with just about any. There are a few rough spots, but remember that you can also run away if the fight gets too difficult! The enemies you kill/knock out stay down and you get to regenerate health. Also, lots of saving helps! Good luck! I hope you can get at least some enjoyment out of it!
