@andraste hehe I like Liara/Javik ship but when Shep is a man I'm going to be totally possessive when I play femShep/Liara soon I'm really tempted to start it now, but I shouldnt do it, I've procrastinated too much my college project I am mostly joking. It isn't that bad of a ship and we all know how fascinated she is with the protheans. I like the relationship because I invested so much time into it and there weren't really a lot of options in ME outside of a few crew. ME1 is probably the best for Liara/Shepard but I love the LotSB DLC the most. (Plus she is super cute and flustered around you in ME1) I wish ME 3 had been better about making it seem like a long standing relationship.

I try to romance someone else but always end up with her lol.

My favorite way to romance Liara is by starting in ME3 while not romancing anyone. Shep and Liara meet in ME1, get to know each other. There are some feelings, but neither one is sure whether it's love. Start of ME2 Shep dies. Both Shep and Liara realize what was the bond they had because of the separation. Shep is revived, they meet up again on Illium, go on the hunt for the Shadow Broker. They don't confess their feelings again, because Liara has the Broker network to manage and Shep is on a suicide mission (what if I die again?) They meet up again on Mars. Their "panties are on fire" (-matriarch Aethyta ) They confess, yay I just like the idea. That's just my opinion though, no need to spread it around.

She was my first Bioware love interest. At first I just chose her because I figured "hey, this is a big space opera game, why choose the regular ole' human when I can get with a sexy blue babe?" But as the series progressed I really grew to like her as a character as she grew. Here's the only good photo I could get of my Shepard and her together. Thank God the PS4 has the image sharing because it's a pain to do this stuff with my phone. :\

I sort of feel bad that I can't get into Liara. The one time I [accidentally] romanced her, I ditched her as soon as possible when ME3 came around. She was pissed but got over it. I can't NOT romance Kaidan. Thankfully, mods have fixed that issue for the entire trilogy.
Still, I feel like there are a lot of people here, particularly the women, who really love her. I hate to say anything back about her in general, but more so here.

Like I know a ton of people here love Kaiden but Ashley is alive more often than not in my runs. It is what it is.

Like I know a ton of people here love Kaiden but Ashley is alive more often than not in my runs. It is what it is. The longer I've been around, the more I like Ash. Even in ME1, there's a lot more to her than it seems, at least from my perspective. I've seen fan art featuring Ash and Kaidan alive in ME3.
Now, onto the topic of this thread...regardless of not wanting to romance Liara, I've watched her grow from a naive archaeologist to a hardened fighter. Perhaps the destruction of the Normandy showed her she couldn't afford to stand on the sidelines and pine away at someone she couldn't have.
Especially in ME3, Liara is a really good friend. She did what she could. She stood on the front lines. Not knowing she'd ever see Shepard again, she gave that parting gift of "Embrace Eternity". There's some really good stuff there if one takes the time to look for it.
I think the biggest issue I had was that she ninjamanced me in ME1. However, on subsequent playthroughs I discovered that more neutral responses prevented it from happening. As an aside, people have mentioned how then accidentally romanced Kaidan or Ashley, so it's not a Liara-only thing.

Yea I was confronted by Ashley about having to choose her or Liara because I was being too nice? So yea its a problem with the romances in the first game in general. I totally get her being forced on people, especially in 1, so that is understandable. But yea I mainly like her because as you said she really develops as a character. She has that cute innocence in 3 that is enduring, she went through hell and back to get your body back and if you romanced her in 1 you could really feel she loved you. The shadow broker dlc was fantastic as a romance and everything about her in 3 is just beautiful. Really the kind of girl I'd marry in real life.
