Personally I've always picked the Minutemen and did some quests for the Railroad. I got rid of Shaun at the earliest opportunity I got. By the time I got to him my Sole Survivor had already build a new life together as the big boss of the Minutemen and in a lovingly high relationship with John Hancock. Hey, I romance Hancock too. A very interesting m/m romance, to say the least. Definitely, his personality and backstory helped a lot in overlooking him being a ghoul.

I'm honestly surprised the Institute are #2, it's not an outcome I would expect from the FO4 subreddit.
But I generally side with the Institute.

I'm surprised the Brotherhood isn't doing better because of Danse fans, but I'm also proud of all of you for mostly not picking my least favorite choice. lol

Minutemen, although I played around to have them, the Railroad and the Brotherhood all alive. Railroad being my least favorite out of the bunch despite me wanting to protect every Synth, they are the only ones that don't set up patrols. Brotherhood is the Brotherhood that I have loved since FO1, but Maxon goes to the extremes of it.

I have never seen them ever. I still go Minutemen, they actually have the Commonwealth's best interest at heart.

I'm a dirty ghoul fucker, so no Brotherhood for me. I've started so many different saves in this game, but I've only ever done the full main story once, and that was kind of in a rush. I ended up going the Railroad route for that one, mostly because I was in the middle of doing other quests for them when the whole final quest chain started coming up for me, and I was kind of in the middle of it before I realized I was hitting the end game. Since then, I've really only focused on the settlement management aspect of the game (with the help of a ton of mods), so I guess that makes me most in line with the Minutemen. I even build a few recruitment offices and Minutemen compounds in my settlements just for flavor. I deliberately avoid triggering Act 2, which means I never get further into the Brotherhood than doing a few radiant missions for them. Deacon is one of my favorite companions, and I actually enjoy the Railroad quests. I generally agree with the notion that all sentient beings deserve autonomy, so I'm happy to help them out. But it's not my main cause. As far as I'm concerned, the settlements I build welcome all, humans, ghouls, synths, but I'm not going to focus my efforts exclusively on one group. If I ever get around to actually playing the main story again, I will go Minutemen for the final route. But I'm really meh on the whole thing. Don't care about Shaun. Don't want the Act 2 Brotherhood vertibirds dropping out of the sky all the time. I just want to build my settlement empire.

I voted for the Institute only because I liked its ending the most (better resolution with you-know-who*), but I've also done the Brotherhood. I'm working on the "golden ending" I've read about with the Minutemen, where the Railroad and Brotherhood actually survive. I know it's more of a loophole ending than anything, but whatever. * Shaun Interesting sidenote with the Institute in Far Harbor: DiMA doesn't freak out and run you out of Acadia when you tell him the truth. I know it's the same for all factions, but his reaction was surprisingly positive considering (appreciated the honesty). I didn't later snitch on them to the Institute, fwiw.

My first run was the Minutemen ending, though I belonged to the Railroad as well. I almost did the Railroad ending, but I'd been with the Minutemen longer and decided to see it through.
My next (unfinished run) has my Sole Survivor as part of the Brotherhood of Steel, though I might have her turn on them and join the Institute.

Railroad even though they are kinda a mess once you free em, they don't really have any kinda what will we do now after plan. Enjoyed blowing the BoS to bits, fuck those guys. Just started a new run yesterday, going with the Institute this time, I missed that classic radio station when I blew em up in my first run. I don't really care about Shaun, never had that maternal bond thing going on, didn't care about the husbando either. Stifling.

I don't really care about Shaun, never had that maternal bond thing going on, didn't care about the husbando either. Stifling. I just started a new run a couple of weeks ago. I kept thinking about how useful all the scrap I was picking up in ME:A would be for building settlements, if ME:A had a real system for that. So here I go again. I'm not even planning on getting to the end game. Maybe I will, but not until I've established a settlement empire. And I'm going to do my usual romancing of Cait and Hancock while completely ignoring Shaun forever. I never get too invested in the prewar backstory, but I made it work into my pansexual polyamory thing by headcanoning that Nate & my character were involved in a threesome with the drug dealer that lived in the yellow house nearest the bridge to Concord (the terminal in the house mentions an 'army connection' who I headcanon is Nate).

I sided with the Brotherhood of Steel, because I like Elder Maxson, and Danse is my favorite companion. Maxson may be fanatic and merciless, but he's also a very charismatic leader and has the best coat in the whole game (okay, this is actually an argument to side against him ). My favorite moment is Danses conversation with Maxson at the end of his personal quest. It's one of the few emotional moments in the game and has great dialogue lines. I also like the final mission in which you had to infiltrate the institute with the help of Liberty Prime. It just felt big...and there aren't many of those moments in the game. The institute seems to be interesting, too. I'm not gonna lie, I cried when I watched the institute ending on Youtube. I think I have to side with them on another occasion, although it won't be an easy decision, because nearly every companion hates the institute and I don't want to lose Danse. :/

This is a tough one for me. I like the institute's shiny and the fact that it has toilet roll (and flushing toilets, for that matter) but its evilness kind of makes me wrinkle my nose a bit. I guess a lot of its evil was thanks to Psycho Shaun, and being its new owner I could reform it into something nice and cuddly, but it was just too tempting to reform it by blowing it up. Obviously I've watched Dark Star too often.
Of the other three I usually end up going with the Railroad: although they are kind of Guardianistas, the BoS have too many bell ends and the Minutemen have Preston. D: Though actually I end up trying to get all three to play nice.
