I went with the Railroad, because I'm all about the robos, but I sort of see it as siding with the Railroad and the Minutemen. I support both pretty strongly and they don't clash at all. Preston approves of most of the Railroad stuff and Deacon approves of helping settlements. There's no reason why they can't thrive simultaneously. The Brotherhood and the Institute both suck and I like them better as smoldering heaps of scrap metal. They're basically like Enclave #1 and #2 in FO4, tbh.

The first time I played through Fallout 4...I sided with the Brotherhood Of Steel. I did it for Danse, honestly. He was the reason I bought the game and I really enjoyed him as a character and romance. I really enjoyed how their story was set-up, going from meeting Paladin Danse and the others at the police station to helping them rebuild Liberty Prime and the entire revelation about Danse. Also, that really cool airship and random BoS characters being voiced by Kimberly Brooks! ...Also I was really, really attracted to Maxson. I did spend A LOT of time with the Railroad and Deacon though, so I felt awful when I had to choose the Brotherhood over them. I have no interest in really siding with the Institute. The Minutemen is the easy way out that allows me to keep both Deacon and Danse, so they have that benefit. I also really like their Castle and Ronnie Shaw. For the Railroad...I really love Desdemona (and her voice actress) as well as their HQ. I do feel conflicted about choosing between the Railroad and Brotherhood though because I love both. Spending more time with the Brotherhood in Fallout 3 and NV definitely helped with liking them more.

Spending more time with the Brotherhood in Fallout 3 and NV definitely helped with liking them more. See, I like the Brotherhood as depicted in FO3, but I'm happy to let every other group we've seen burn. Especially the ones in NV, tbh. They're the most xenophobic and homophobic reiteration of the faction in the series. If anything, NV was when I went from supporting the Brotherhood to straight up hating them and the FO4 version didn't do much to change it back. In game they imply the regional branches are often quite different, as there's not a ton of inter-communication, and the FO4 version implies the D.C. group is too soft, off mission, etc. The only group of Brotherhood members I've been able support do not seem to be the norm.

I'm going through my first Railroad playthrough now. I usually go Institute. So far i like it, and I'll admit the ballistic weave is very nice (I don't get it in my Institute playthrough cause you get locked out of an institute quest).

I have sided with all 4 at least once, but my favorite faction is the institute for sure! I think they really are the best chance for the future of humanity. Also they have a clean place for me to live...totally important!

I sided with the Railroad because I'm a softie bitch and believe Synths are people and deserve rights, but I also sided with the Minutemen, I'm the general of them. The two are allied. The way I see it, the Minutemen are the government of my Commonwealth (which I guess I'm the leader of), and the Railroad is the secret service.

I like pairing up the Railroad and the Minutemen together. I like BOS in FO3, but that is for another topic of discussion.

...Also I was really, really attracted to Maxson. I was really, really attracted to his COAT so I killed him and took it. RAILROAD FOREVER! I would like to do a Brotherhood playthrough at some point, but it'd be tough. I tend to play a total nicey-nice goody-goody in games, so all that xenophobia and the such would take some getting used to. Although maybe I could combine it with a Nuka-World raider queen run, hmm...at least Cait would finally approve of the choices I make. On the other hand, the Institute has clean sheets and toilet paper, a very persuasive argument....

Brotherhood.
Minutemen just dont have the power to maintain the commonwealth. Institute are evil. Railroad are sjws.
Desperate times call for desperate measures.

The institute is fairing better then I thought it would. I'm glad I'm not the only one that wants a comfortable life at the end of the story.

Minutemen though I have done plenty of runs with the Railroad. Only ever did a Brotherhood playthrough once and that was my second playthrough. At the time I didn't really know the Railroad too well, hadn't done any quests for them outside of first meeting them, but now having done the Railroad option a few times, I could never do another BOS run. (At least, not without the mod to spare the Railroad.) I simply can't bring myself to ever side with the Institute though.

The institute.
I liked my shiny quarters. And evil doesn't bother me. If I'm in control of it. Mwahaha.

Personally I've always picked the Minutemen and did some quests for the Railroad. I got rid of Shaun at the earliest opportunity I got. By the time I got to him my Sole Survivor had already build a new life together as the big boss of the Minutemen and was in a lovingly high relationship with John Hancock.

A very interesting m/m romance, to say the least.
