If you're a PC user you should know that there's a same sex romance mod available for ME1. Because you could still romance someone of the opposite sex with this mod installed, you do have to actively pursue the relationship. It's available mShep/Kaidan and FemShep/Ashley. It's been around since February but just got a 2.0 update. There are a few changes but one of them is the removal of Kaidan's "art appreciation" of Liara. It does not wrongly identify gender because this is not a gender swapping mod; it's a files restoration mod. It says it's not compatible with Backoff for ME3 but I don't know if that's actually true because my experience with Gibbed shows that Backoff will still acknowledge an existing s/s romance. However, the author is planning to make some changes to ME2 (presumably just the emails that misgender your Shepard) and also ME3. The mod can be found here. |

thank the goddess for this mod! i had to use hacked savegames for my playthrough and there was some wonky stuff going on. i think it will take a loooooong time before i play met again, but better late than never!  |

I'm still playing the trilogy. A few days ago had to deal with Kaidan's email to me calling me a woman. ;-|
Anyway, the author of the above mod said he's planning to fix that email. Also mentioned that there is unused same sex dialogue for ME2 and ME3, including a male Shepard/Thane romance.

I wish my pc was good enough to play Mass Effect Trilogy. So jelly! Then again-the trilogy doesn't support controller option very well if I remember correctly. It'd be a pain for me to learn to mouse and keyboard a game like Mass Effect.

I wish my pc was good enough to play Mass Effect Trilogy. So jelly! Then again-the trilogy doesn't support controller option very well if I remember correctly. It'd be a pain for me to learn to mouse and keyboard a game like Mass Effect. KB+M controls are so easy in ME series really, I actually had problems trying to play it with controller.. that aiming.. pure nightmare But, there are also mods for full support of controllers for PC, for ME1-3 |

It works in ME1, because lines for FemShep and Ash were already recorded. In ME2 and ME3 they weren't iirc. So.. We can enjoy this romance only in the first game.  |

FYI, author of same sex mod for ME1 is working on one for ME3. He's trying to restore audio logs that are currently "silent" in same sex imports. The mod would work for FemShep/Ashley, as well. Author says there is dialogue in ME2 and ME3 that supports same sex romances (including for Thane) so we'll have to wait and see.

I went to check to see about any updates for same sex mods for ME2 or ME3. But what I found was a mod that gives Shepard a hairy chest! That is going in right now so I have it for once I trudge my way through ME2. |

I think this would allow for a romance between FemShep and Ash (conceivably continued from ME1 if you used his same sex romance mod or did the gender swap thing). Also, it's somehow supposed to clean up things like, at Apollo's Cafe, where a continued romanced Kaidan (only possible with mods) doesn't acknowledge the romance anymore. He does earlier, but not here. I think the mod will fix that because the dialogue is so awkward when Shepard is all surprised and saying "You and me?" when they'd already banged before Ilos.

(Oh, and when Ash rejoins the Normandy, FemShep will check out her ass - or I assume so, since BroShep does so with Kaidan.) And then the Citadel dlc. Personally, I'd recommend starting with the same sex romance mod for ME1. Rondeeno did say ME2 was going to be trickier to fix (Kaidan's post-Horizon email refers to BroShep as a woman so I suppose Ash's would refer to FemShep as a man). Still, I'll take what I can get. |
