Anybody playing this? I've held off but I'm re-upping my PS+ and picking it up today FINALLY. It looks like so much fun and really nerve-wracking and I'm going to be SO BAD AT IT.
So anyone wants to join in, lemme know, we'll be playstation pals hooray

Hmm, well that's okay, if no one else is playing then I guess I will just use this forum as my own private hideaway-in-plain-sight where I can talk about this game I played a bunch last night and YES it's janky as hell, there are some bugs and glitches and server issues–it can take forever to find a lobby, and I got disconnected a few times. But lawd oh lawd is it funnnnnnn. I had plenty of screaming out loud jump scare heart attacks as a counselor. I am not very good at being Jason (I am a lover, not a fighter) but it's still a good time chasing everyone around. I got to be Tommy Jarvis, I got to put on Jason's mom's crusty old sweater from Part 2, I am a happy horror nerd. Critical reviews are trashing this game, but player reviews are nearly all "it's got issues but I love it." So yeah, if anyone ever decides to pick it up on PS4 gimme a shout, we'll get our ki ki ki ma ma ma on together

I love Friday 13th movies and I'm definitely interested in the game, but the price put me off a bit :/
I'll definitely get it, though I gotta wait for a discout. But it's great to read that people are having fun with it!

YAAAAAS! I am playing the SHIT out of this game, but I'm on Xbox (the truly cursed ones). I absolutely LOVE it despite all of the (many, many) technical issues. XBox really got screwed. Random matching still doesn't work. We didn't get the "day one" patch until 8 days after it released. Those first 8 days were rough. My data files were corrupted when their server crashed, so I went three days without being able to play at all. When that was finally fixed, the only way you could play was through private matches (which forced me to rely on begging for invites on the forums). When you finally could get in, about 60-70% of the matches ended with "connection time out" or crash errors that would send you back to your Xbox home page. In the remaining 30-40% of the games, about half of those would see you encountering a game breaking bug (like getting stuck on a rock or having your map screen stuck so you can't move). There was no XP gain for a while, even if you happened to get through a match. I'm not going to lie, it was probably the worst roll out that I've ever been a part of. However, when we FINALLY got the 'day one' patch (just late last week), I was able to really dig in. There are still some issues (like no penalty for leaving mid-game and, if you are Jason or the host, ending everyone else's game immediately) and there are still a few bugs (like occasionally glitching if hiding in a closet and Jason can't kill you and you can't leave). But in general, it's pretty great. The tone in the game is perfect. Super creepy. I'm totally on edge the whole time I'm playing as a counselor. I'm a much better counselor than I am a Jason. I've only played as Jason twice (I'm on level 15 and it's about 4-5 matches per level, so that's a really low Jason number at about 2 out of 60 matches and I'm set as "no preference"), so I need some practice. I've found that my preferred style is "lone wolf". I like a stealthy smart character (like AJ or Deborah or LaChappa). I sneak around on my own. Fix the phone, car, or boat, and then get the hell out of there. If someone happens to be near me, I'll help them out (like pulling over the car to let them get in or if they are running towards the cops with Jason behind them, I'll shoot/distract Jason so they can get away). But I like doing my own thing. Partially, that's because I'm not playing with a mic, so I can't talk to people. But partially, it's because people are usually pretty stupid and the few times that I've tried to play "team-player" attempts, I end up dead. I recently unlocked Adam, so I'm trying to figure him out, but he seems pretty decent. I have ZERO interest in playing a low stealth character like Vanessa, Bugzy, or Chad. I've only gotten to play as Tommy once. I escaped already (cops) and there were still a few people hanging around, so I figured that it was my time to be the hero. I ran towards where they were being attacked by Jason (instead of just escaping again, LOL), shot Jason with the shotgun to allow them to hop into a cabin, ran to another cabin and grabbed a flare gun, rinse and repeat. And then I realized that the guys weren't actually running to the cops. They were trying to find more parts for the car....... So I let one of them die, but had a moment of regret and sacrificed myself (by attacking Jason) to let the other one get away. I got a TON of XP on that round. If anyone wants to friend me and play sometime, my GT is daveliamj

But it's great to read that people are having fun with it! Definitely worth picking up on sale...and there is a single-player story mode coming, so it looks like they intend to keep adding content and supporting it. There is so much they can add with characters and maps and all that, so I think the value-fer-dollar will keep rising. Update if you decide to take the plunge! I didn't even know it was on XBox, actually...wow, that sounds like a miserable launch but I'm glad it's getting better. Had some weird glitches, like I fused together with another counselor (not as sexy as it sounds), someone got stuck on a tent once, the gas can fused with the car and became unusable when Jason killed a counselor as they were filling the tank...it can be frustrating. But still way less aggravating than the griefers who run around "betraying" everyone. I don't get it, but I guess that's just online games for ya. I love the movies so much and there are sooooo many character homages I'm hoping to see. I don't think her stats are great but I don't care: I always have to play the Chris Higgins character (I think her name is Jenny in-game?) because she's one of my all-time favorite Final Girls.

I love the tropes. Jenny is definitely Chris Higgins. Down to the outfit. She'd be the final girl if these characters were all in a movie. Here's what I'm thinking: Jenny - Chris (part 3) AJ - Violet (part 5)/JJ (part 8) LaChappa - Shelley (part 3) Chad - Russell (part 7) Deborah - Maddie (part 7) Kenny - Bill (part 1) Bugzy - Julius (part 8) Tiffany - Terri (part 2)/Tina & Terri (part 4) I'm a bit stumped with Eric (maybe David from part 7?) and Vanessa (.....were there any athletic girls like that? maybe Kate from part 7?) Part of the reason why I love playing as AJ is because Violet was always one of my favorite characters. She was so unique and had a really memorable death scene (that popping/locking dance, tho!), so it's cool to get to play as a character based off of her.

Before I picked it up yesterday I was texting with a friend who already had (and loves) the game...I said "there needs to be a playable Violet" and he just replied "I HAVE GOOD NEWS FOR YOU" She just needs a pop/lock emote to be complete! I thought I'd be playing her the most but I really can't resist Chris Higgins, she doesn't get enough love from F13 fans. But let's be real, the character I am DYING to play (besides the bikers from 3) is the Banana Girl Hitchhiker from Part IV!! MAY SHE FINALLY BE AVENGED I think you're pretty spot on with your list...I think Eric and LaChappa and maybe Bugzy are actually based on high-dollar-amount Kickstarter backers. My highlight so far might be Jason punching my head clean off à la Julius in Part VIII, good times, good times

They could just make a hitchhiker stoner girl and she can be a mixture of the banana girl and Chili from Part 3. Chili was always one of my favorites because she looks about 15 years older than the rest of them and is just the worst actress. AND (totally against type), she is the last of the group to die. I adore her. I'd love that character type. And also maybe a prankster type like Ned from Part 1 -- complete with his head dress/diaper outfit.

I only just recently got into the series back in January, but I fell in love with it! The series was so much better than I was expecting. It managed to genuinely terrify me, but I was proud of myself for making it through them all! I was such a chicken as a kid/teen and never gave them a chance. I had to join in the discussion after seeing love for Chili and Violet! They were my two favorite characters! I loved Violet's death scene and "His Eyes" became one of my favorite songs thanks to her! I really loved Part 5! Also, yes to avenging banana hitchhiker girl! Anyway, I have had my eyes on this game for quite some time now. I love survival games and this one really looks like a lot of fun. I'll be on PC unfortunately, but I do hope to get my hands on it soon!

I do have a passing interest in this game, but I don't know when I'll buy it.
Edit: I got it last week, it's goofy fun. Two of the recent matches were awful though, in one I got teamkilled for no reason and in the second the Jason player was working with a Counselor (as in the counselor would hang around other counselors and pretty much tag along with Jason).
