It's sad if this new IP comes at the cost of ME. I don't think it does. It's quite clear that Montreal was the B team, while Edmonton is A team. Anthem is an Edmonton project. They have been developing for quite a long while. They had a skeleton team after DAI was wrapped, with David Gaider and Mary Kirby moving over to the new IP; Mary Kirby is still there, while David Gaider has since departed Bioware. But isn't the reason MEA was developed by Montreal because Edmonton was working on Anthem? They gave Anthem the priority and MEA was developed by the B team, which, from what I understand, consisted mainly of people who had little to no experience in making an open world game or an RPG. Except some key people like Casey Hudson (who left) and Asari Wanker (who moved to Andromeda like halfway through the development) the team was fairly inexperienced in general. In that sense, it seems like Anthem did come at the cost of ME.

So Anthem... I'm not happy about being dressed up as a robot or whatever you call those Power Armour-looking contraptions. If you have to spend the whole game (combat anyway) in them, I'm out. Graphics look stellar though.
Guess we'll learn more as the MS event.
The whole EA presser was a bit of a let down. No ME DLC, No DA, No Visceral SW Game and lots and lots of lots of SPORTS... blech. If I wanted to play football, I'd go outside and play it. I don't get the appeal.
Ugh, I feel everything that I say lately is miserable. ME:A really did a number on me. ME was my number 1 and they done fucked it up and now they'll likely be no more Mass Effect until I'm 50 or something.

I don't know when development on the new IP started, but MEA was in development while DAI was going on, which is one of the reasons they couldn't make use of the DAI team's Frostbite innovations. The timing doesn't seem correct for what you state to have happened. Aside from any actual work, the management decision to have Montreal develop MEA seems like it would have happened before the new IP got rolling.

Graphics look stellar though. Ah yeah, I didn't even think of this. This would be a detractor for me as well. One thing that bugs me about any sort of armored suit is that they always "feel" big and bulky when you're moving around. That's appropriate for what it is, but I don't want to spend an entire game like that.

I feel really lucky for my time zone rn (Pacific Time Zone). Meaning, E3 for me starts tonight but not super late tonight either.

Yeah, I don't even like getting better armour in ME:A because it just keeps getting bigger and bigger, with more and more gadgets and things added until the NOMAD probably becomes redundant and you could probably just drive your whole team around the desert by yourself. In the meantime, Cora and Liam are chilling in their sexy sleek gear. Edit: Apparently I still don't know how to spell desert and dessert.

I stayed up the whole night on Thursday to watch the election and now my sleep pattern is all over the place but the one benefit is that I'm awake for all the E3 pressers... until I can get rid of my pseudo jet-lag anyway.

Weird there was nothing about the star wars visceral game, I knew I was missing something. I want to know what Amy Hennig is doing, an uncharted style of game for star wars would be cool.

I'm hearing it's open-world now (hopefully a customisable protagonist) and Amy said that 2017 is Battlefront's year and they'll be making a big splash later. I don't know how long after launch (Autumn 2017) they're gonna wait though.

The timing doesn't seem correct for what you state to have happened. Aside from any actual work, the management decision to have Montreal develop MEA seems like it would have happened before the new IP got rolling. MEA's development (pre-production) started in 2012 and I think Anthem was in production/pre-production before that? Because when it was first announced, they were only starting to get ready to develop Andromeda, while Anthem was already in development. (although that's not solid evidence, as the pre-production for Andromeda could have taken much longer, but I'd assume a completely new IP would have taken even longer) That said, it kinda seems like the two games' developments were simultaneous, started around the same time as well. This tweet also makes me think that, because they both had playable builds around the same time. (spoiler for size) And then there's the Kotaku article. It really makes it sound like it was a conscious decision to hand Andromeda over to the Montreal team while Edmonton, the more experienced team, would work on the new IP, Anthem. It sounds like the two games started development at the same time, and they wanted to give Anthem the priority. I mean look at that, "the Bob Dylan of games" they really had high hopes and ambitions for this game. (again, spoiler for size) And this from the same article, where they mention that Andromeda was being developed while Edmonton worked on Inquisition and Anthem - which makes it sound like both were being developed at the same time? Still sounds like they picked Anthem over Andromeda. There's also this, from the wikipedia page but the source isn't very credible so idk. All in all, it sounds to me like the decision to have Montreal develop Andromeda was around the same time as the decision to have Edmonton develop the new IP. Anthem was given priority over Andromeda. If nothing else, common sense tells me that this was the case, anyway. Why else would they hand Andromeda over to the less experienced B team, instead of the team that worked on the previous ME games? They had to have a very good reason for that decision, and "the Bob Dylan of games" sure qualifies if you ask me.

Yes, this is very true. I was very sad when David left, but Mary is excellent. I meant more that Andromeda was left to the B team in the first place. I get their desire for a new IP, I really do, but they still could have given it to the A team without Montreal being a complete shambles. I'm more optimistic for about the actual quality of the game, for sure. Just waiting to see if the content and style is my cup o' tea.

I'll tell you guys one thing, Anthem better be really really fucking amazing to make up for shitting all over Mass Effect and fucking it up for people who DID like ME:A for years to come. I'm not going to count Anthem out just because it looks like a Destiny clone right now, and try to have faith in BW Edmonton, but my standards for Anthem are going to be really fucking high I'll tell you guys that much. Also even if it is a Destiny clone, maybe it has a single player mode...I suppose we don't know that it doesn't yet.

But, but, that sounds like barely anything will be announced... Unless they use like 5 to 7 minutes for each game. I mean, which games could they possibly announce within those 30 minutes alone?
