My thoughts on Prey.

Good:
Female Morgan Yu is gay or bisexual, which I was stupidly pleased about. I think this was the first time I've played an AAA game with a set protagonist, that has a LI and they are LGBT. It was cool.

The combat is solid, I only got one typhon mod, so I could morph my way into closed off rooms, so I don't know what the powers are like but the Engineer & Science Skill trees are very fun and the Combat focus from the Security tree is a game changer.

The few characters there are, are interesting enough to chat to I'm particularly a fan of Mikhalla Illyushin.

The environment and tone of the game are mostly good

The middle of the game is where all the best stuff storywise is.


Bad:
Why can't Morgan talk? They get the excellent Sumalee Montano to voice Morgan and there is so little dialogue from her, just January, December and past Morgan. It was so frustrating, there were many times that I wanted to explain myself to a character, particularly Mikhalla or when I knew that the person I was speaking too was an imposter but I couldn't say anything and just had to be lead by the nose by the plot.

The tone of the game at the end switches from one of tense horror to more face paced action which was frustrating due to my build.

The start of the game doesn't show it's best self or give a good idea of what the player will be in for.

The loading times are awful, I was playing on the PS4 Pro and each section took an age to load up. It really hampered my desire to explore and completely wrecked the tension of the ending, as my mad dash through the station was constantly interrupted by a long loading screen.

The post credit ending is bullshite.
