I know, it's sad. Hopefully mainstream media in general will evolve and let male characters in on some of that sweet monster man loving, too.
And a bit of a sidetrack, but since I recently watched the premiere of The Orville (personally speaking I really liked it) I find myself wanting to talk about one thing in particular: On the old boards I brought up a concern about how the character of Bortus, a member of an all-male alien species, would be handled -- my fear was that they would go the predictable (and unfunny) route of romantically pairing him with a female and thus derive "humor" off of how addicted he becomes to the joys of straight sex that his species has always missed out on. Thankfully, the show went in the right direction -- from an official cast listing I came upon it seems that Bortus does indeed have a husband. THISSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS I dont know if you know The Shape of Water movie, but again a straight romance with a cute monster, this is one of the posters, gorgeous Sad sad SADDDD we never have these kind of stories in mainstream media, Jaal was an exeption but we had to fight and win a great battle for that... it seems you have to sweat blood and tears to see these kind of romances... sad speaking of which, super happy about that show, I'm definitely watching that today! (even though comedies are not my thing) edit. ooops I thought this was Jaal's thread, ofc you know the movie it was posted a page ago

I'm definitely interested in The Shape of Water, even if it falls into a couple overdone tropes. But like you already touched upon, if a monster-person character is given some human loving it's almost always with the opposite sex, simply by virtue of it being a straight pairing. Just like any romance in the mainstream media, really. Even in present day hardly anyone seems willing to break the mold for fear of triggering the homophobes in their audience. It's why gay men were initially denied Jaal, and gay women were almost denied Vetra.

This is one of my most favorite comics ever. I remember reading it for the first time, and getting to the point where the demon is looming over the dude in bed I was immediately like... "OMG THEY'RE GOING TO FUCK!" "... OMG YES YES THEY'RE FUCKING! THEY'RE FUCKING!!!"

I think it will. Though, it'll be an unfortunately slow process before it's fully accepted.

I should mention that the creator of the same sex mod for ME1 (and, soon, ME3) is also soon going to release a mod allowing for romance between mShep and Thane.

I want something like this in the next -nearly impossible and far away- Mass Effect it would be great a comic series of these three guys hunting xenomorphs and doing love everywhere
