As I'm playing through Andromeda yet again I am still curious to know who the M. Benefactor is. Was the choice of voice actors (Leandra Amell/Hawke's mom) a hint of who she might be? What're your craziest theories on this character? Mine is that perhaps the mysterious character is none other than Mom Ryder herself. She's just faking being half dead. She's in that pod-like some kind of VR situation pulling lots of strings all over Andromeda. (I did say it was a crazy theory, right?)

I'm positive it's the illusive man.
*edit* The voice actor was a red herring to throw off the trail.

No I think TIM had an agent sent to Andromeda to act in his stead. It still breaks my heart how he was handled in 3. He was perfect in 2.

Turkey basting double crossing Krant! Um... or something like that. I agree, she's clearly evil-so what is her real objective aside from the forced pregnancies. Hmmm!

I don't think (or maybe just don't want to think) that the Benefactor is tied to Cerberus. I mean, we have those two scientists on Kadara who wanted to get away from Cerberus as run by the Illusive Man, so...
In seriousness, I don't believe that the Benefactor is anyone we already know in the course of the trilogy. Maybe, at most, they were an agent of the Shadow Broker, something like that, but... It doesn't seem right.
Okay, here's the 'I don't want it to be, but I can totally see them going down that rabbit hole' option - Liara's grandmother. Obviously, she intended for Liara and Benezia to be on the Initiative, then Benezia was indoctrinated and killed and Liara fell into the front line Reaper mess, but she'd already invested in the Initiative. Asari matriarch, a thousand years to amass the fortune Jien Garson needed to finish the project, potentially access to the prothean beacon in the Temple of Athame... This seems like the easy reach.
Not that I want this one, of course, but it's not a difficult jump.

Over on BSN, someone did some data mining. The files on the MB say the person is female and aged ~45 (forget the exact age, but it was mid-40s). The file for Ellen Ryder lists her as the same age. Now, it's not conclusive, and I have no idea where she'd have gotten the money, but it's evidence.

I mean the M.B. came to Alec cause she knew he needed help with his wife-I wouldn't think that would be common knowledge as most people keep serious illness pretty quiet-but I can't be sure of course. Maybe Alec made a huge noise asking for help all around. -shrug-

New, definitely fantasy theory: Ellen Ryder was the secret mistress of TIM and he funded AI.

I had the crack theory a while ago that the Benefactor was Samara's partner, the "father" of her kids, for motivations similar to Alec Ryder - travel to another galaxy, find alien medicines, make a cure for being an Ardat-Yakshi.
Hey, it's as likely as anything else, right?

Hey, it's as likely as anything else, right? Yes, since it seems doubtful we'll see an MEA 2. Which I think sucks. Upside is that ME is not dead (but also not in any stage of production) so maybe they could do an ME4 and then, if it's successful, come back with an MEA2. If people become sold on the idea that ME games are once again great, they might be willing to give MEA2 a shot.

If we get another Mass Effect game the gay exclusive male better not be a non-squadmate locked in the hold again. All bi and all squad romances are actually my preference, but if they insist on continuing the stupid trend then it's time to let the gay guy out of the hold already and into the field.

There's a reason I like Kaidan over Dorian (or Jaal). I relate to him more than the other two. Also, Shepard is more similar to guys I've dated that it works well for me.
