And...possibly online ...Hype dropping quickly While I'm beyond glad that Bethesda finally revealed something NEW and not a special edition *insert game that's been out for a long time already here*, it possibly being an online game is just ugh. When I think of Fallout, my mind refuses to grasp the idea of it being an online thing with a mass of people to play it with. I'd be down for like a small 1-2 player co-op option, because a couple of my friends are fallout fanatics and it'd be cool to play as a small group with them. Other than that though, forget it. Of course, I will reserve judgement until more details are revealed. Kotaku saying it's not an MMO makes me feel a smidge better I suppose lol.

As long as Bethesda has a flagship singleplayer game of some kind (like Starfield, The Elder Scrolls VI, etc.), I won't begrudge them trying to use a studio that was previously working on a multiplayer shooter to make a multiplayer game based on one of their most popular IPs. I definitely get the disappointment and worry, though - this could definitely turn out to be a flop or cynical follow-the-leader battle royale cashgrab, and honestly Bethesda's typical quality control would be even harder to tolerate in a competitive multiplayer game.
Making a game that heavily features Vault 76 is an intriguing choice. From the Fallout wiki entry on Vault 76: Only twenty years later? Man, the world outside would be unpleasant to say the least.
It's interesting that they highlighted the tercentennial in the teaser. The bombs fell in 2077, just over a year after the tercentennial, so it would've been a living memory for a lot of people in the vault twenty years later. The focus on it kinda makes me wonder if we're going to see the early days of the Enclave.

Someone jokingly said it was a battle royale game, but honestly Im worried now that it is lol. Theres a lot of resources and crafting involved in Fallout that are perfect for a battle royale mode. If fits with the theme of those games too, the last of humanity fight for survival. Of course it could just be that, asingle player game but with a battle royale as a multiplayer online option. But will see.

SO tired of ONLINE games. So so tired. All fads quiet down eventually, it's just a question of how many games will it take with it before it does, and it seems it's managed to take Fallout with it

That's odd. Them announcing the game before E3 is weirder. 2102 seems early, but the first vault did open in 2090.
The logo and name seem to point that it might be a version of Fallout Shelter on the full engine. It seems too soon for a next full installment.

Kotaku - Sources: Fallout: 76 Is An Online Survival RPG kotaku.com/sources-fallout-76-is-an-online-survival-rpg-1826425333Originally prototyped as a multiplayer version of Fallout 4 with the goal of envisioning what an online Fallout game might look like, Fallout: 76 has evolved quite a bit over the past few years, those sources said. It will have quests and a story, like any other game from Bethesda Game Studios, a developer known for meaty RPGs like Skyrim. It will also feature base-building—just like 2015's Fallout 4—and other survival-based and multiplayer mechanics, according to those sources. One source cautioned that the gameplay is rapidly changing, like it does in many online “service” games, but that’s the core outline.

No, it was 'please stand by' with a 24 hour countdown i think, then an in game trailer that said Fallout 4 at the end. Or maybe I'm just crazy.

I'm guessing that Fallout 76 is going to be a flagship game Bethesda plans to release this year, along with maybe one other that won't be announced until E3 proper.
Remember everybody - don't get your hopes too high for a new Bethesda RPG that isn't Fallout 76.
