I know I've just posted a Not The Nine O'Clock News video, but they did so many awesome piss-takes of artists at the time. In this case I'm of the opinion that Pamela Stephenson does a better Kate Bush than Kate Bush: I kinda like Them Heavy People, but I think England My Leotard is a much better song. The original: Pamela Stephenson:

I wonder if all the retro songs are going to make a comeback to the scale of retro gaming. I think they already did to some extent: I hear loads of stuff being played on the radio from when I was a kid, the early '80s apparently going through a bit of an extended renaissance at the moment. Old crap on the radio? Couldn't help but think of Okay, with the exception of Anarchy in the UK (which is actually older) those aren't 80's old and neither are they your average commercial radio fodder, but if I do listen to radio, I don't listen to your average commercial radio fodder so /shrug You made me think of them Edit: Aaaaaaand now I'm just listening to Nirvana.

I still remember hearing Pretty Vacant back in the day! The UK radio stations seemed to randomly refuse to play their stuff "just because". For me, the early '80s was mostly New Romantic and synthpop like Gary Numan, Duran Duran, Tears For Fears, Talk Talk, Flock of Seagulls and so on but it was a real eclectic mix of heavy rock, early rap (Grandmaster Flash, anyone?), Disco, whatever Kate Bush is, Abba, punk, post-punk, early goth, ska, reggae, just loads and loads of different stuff. I miss that era, it seems that unless a radio station is determined to do a retro sound it's quite hard to find that level of diversity any more.

Personal Jesus is 80's (just). It was released in 1989. I'm not old enough to remember punk (I was born in 1975), but the 80s are my childhood, so of course the music from then has stayed with me... I seem to remember talking about it somewhere on here with Crimson , but I thought I'd just put in a word for the movie Sing Street from a couple of years ago. It's about a lad in Dublin setting up a band to try to woo a girl. It's a lovely film, but more relevant here has a great soundtrack of 80s songs mixed with originals "by his band" which are really well observed. I particularly like this one where they are trying to be The Cure... This one's pretty decent too...

I'm afraid my memories don't reach all the way there. In most, if not all the memories I have, commercial radios played mainstream crap while everything else was relegated to niche radios. I grew up with rock, metal, punk and their sub genres because of my parents...I suppose you could include ska and reggae in there as well.

Till yesterday I thought "Owner Of A Lonely Heart" was sung by a woman (think Eurythmics or Beach House). I'll ignore this knowledge

Lindsey Stirling
Susumu Hirasawa
Especially love this one.
Woodkid
This one's my favorite song of his.
There's a song I've been trying to find, but I don't know how to find it mainly because I'm not sure if it's a licensed or original song (usually my searches just lead me to Black Bandana, the Strip Club songs, or the Great Balls of Fire songs). It's from Hitman: Absolution, you can hear it in the Patriot's Hangar on the radio.
