I did some digging and found the Dev Diary on the companions.
From Caeso's description "he’s a bon vivant who likes wine, women, and for that matter men when the mood takes him"...because *of course* we can't have a bi romance option wothout reminding everyone that they simply *must* prefer women as well...
Hopefully this doesn't reflect the in-game romance and we won't have to deal with him constantly flirting with/mentioning women.
...Why was I expecting any different in 2022...

I was going to say that I was surprised they'd make the more... 'manly' character the bisexual one, but then reading that he's a hedonist with a preference for women just kinda 'oh' I guess that's why then.  I would have concerns that he'd treat a relationship with a male character differently or less seriously than that with a female character. I did watch a bit of gameplay and it seems interesting but man I am so tired of the promiscuous bisexual trope in games. |

 Anyone would think Caeso was straight.  First conversation with him, he was talking about saving damsels in distress. The choices were pretty much 'do you have anyone waiting for you back home' (which I took) or something like 'will you settle down with said damsel.'
I'm just... hoping that his opinion might change down the line because oof otherwise. CC is... not great. Portraits will morph if you pick a dark skin but won't if you pick a different hair colour. Though the height slider is welcome. Bestia is... huge.  (I am still lolling that the scar is on the wrong side because either the portrait or character model is flipped.)

After almost 60 hours I finished the game. I pretty much got forced into the ending I picked as only one out of seven possible endings would keep my romance with me - but I would have picked that ending anyway now I have actually played through it, because it fit my character and the alternative options were... terrible. As much as I hated the baby daddy drama, Caeso stayed loyal and willingly followed me into exile after I sacrificed myself to stop the rest of my friends from being executed. There were certainly things I didn't like about the game but overall I was pretty happy story wise, even if the ending I did pick caused at least one companion to die, but the alternative in my opinion was worse. If anyone was interested in the game, I'd say get it when it's cheap if you're only interested in the m/m romance because as much as I adore Caeso, his personal story does have some issues. It feels like the main story/combat part of the characters personality were written separately from their personal companion quests which is just.. awkward. |
