I looked and I was surprised that this topic wasn't on the first page. Time to fix that. What is your favorite class in DA:I? Mine is a rogue archer Tempest. <glances at my avatar> I'm sure that's incredibly shocking to you guys. I had played dual-wielding rogues in D&D and in other games (like NWN) for over 20 years. I was addicted to having a lot of backstab damage, subtly being able to snag treasure mid-combat, as well as being able to scout ahead. I also enjoyed mechanics such as poison or Mark of the Assassin to really ruin the day of my enemies. In DA2 however, I fell head over heels for the archer class. The extra critical damage (depending upon the weapon,) ranged attacks as well as having stealth sold the entire package for me. Creep up, one or two shot the weakest enemy from a safe distance, then poof out so my tank (Aveline/Cass/Bull*) can pick it up. Rinse repeat. While I enjoy other classes, I keep going back to archers. This time I decided to go dual-wield rogue for the first time in DA:I. It's fun but feels...odd after playing ranged dps. *I don't tend to use Blackwall. Even before the reveal, something about him rubs me the wrong way. Even though I know he becomes the best tank with the Champion spec.*

There's just something that really speaks to me about archers aesthetically, so that's what I tend to think of them as, but honestly I spec and respec constantly between bows and daggers. I tend to just get a bit bored after fighting the same way for a long time and since the amulet/potion is fairly cheap (and free in DAO with a mod), I'll just jump back and forth on a whim.

I've always enjoyed playing as a healer/archer whenever possible in games that offer the choice. I liked being the support character while others would handle the direct combat stuff.
In the Dragon Age games my first character has always been an archer, although Origins was a special exception where I was a warrior archer, not rogue! My canon characters are warrior Warden, spirit healer Hawke, and rogue Inquisitor. The only game where I enjoyed being a mage was in Dragon Age Origins because of how many different ways there was to approach the more tactical combat as a mage. It was a lot of fun, especially as an Arcane Warrior! I've never been any good as a Warrior, so it was the least enjoyable class for me...but I liked it best in Dragon Age 2. I always felt most comfortable as an archer in each of the games, taking on the enemies from a distance.
I'm currently going through Inquisition as a warrior...but I always find myself tempted to switch to Sera because it's so much easier for me.

I love warrior with champion specialization the most, because at some point in the game I cannot really die even playing on nightmare. I have so much health and generate so much guard more than enemy could damage. It's quite funny seeing my rogue and mage party members sipping those health potions while I am at full health.

As far as fun goes... I think Champion and Necromancer are a hoot. Not a spec, but I love the Battlemaster skill tree. Though my canon Quizzie is a Rift Mage and I often take control of Sera and just shoot arrows at people.

Yeah like vertigomez (as in she mentioned not class specialization as a thing)my favorite is Mage specializing in fire magic -I rotate the actual class from playthrough to playthrough-but since the DLC made almost all the enemies resistant to spirit damage they all seem to hit about as hard as a soggy pillow. I'm also still mad about Knight enchanter getting nerfed (yes I know you can do more damage if you manage the charge meter-but honestly it plays completely different now and I hate it and it's my right to do so). So yeah...Fire mage!!! Dropping 3 instantly ready fire mines on foes that are just not ready for my jelly is the best feeling ever!

Favorite class has always been mage and always will be! I love the air skilltree especially. Cracks of thunder and lightning ring traps really speak to me. Rift Mage is my fav spec. Could get some really good combos with Air/Rift. Spirit skilltree had some pretty effects, especially the ressurection spell, though I usually let the resident Fade Nerd master that line for my playthroughs.

This is so wild! When I came here today I was planning on opening this discussion. Continuing on, I think my favorite class is hard to choose. I think it varies from game to game and it includes specialization.
In DAO I mostly played as a dwarf or elf. Mostly dwarves and was stuck with either warrior or rogue. If I was an elf, I always chose either City or Dalish origins so I include that.
However, I would have to say that in DAO my favorite class and it’s solely because of the specialization is definitely MAGE. Anyone who knows me is probably aware of my love for Blood magic (and my rage that it’s not in DAI). Blood magic + Arcane Warrior one DAO is absolutely my favorite to play. I enjoyed it so much.
In DA2, I would have said warrior was my favorite at first. I loved the Templar class in DA2 but then one day I actually played as an archer rogue and fell in love with it. It definitely became my favorite among the game.
DAI is tricky. I enjoy playing a mage a lot now and if they let me be a Blood Mage, I probably would enjoy it more. But I also LOVE the sword and shield mechanics and the reaver specialization. BUT , Archery is so much fun. My last play through I was a mage and while I was playing as my mage I would switch to archer sera just to play as an archer again because I find the abilities so fun.
Honestly, I feel like the combat in DAI is so good for me personally it’s hard for me to choose my favorite specialization.

In DA:I my main Mage was a Knight Enchanter with Frost magic. I just love me those shatters. Rift Mage is also good though I didn't enjoy it so much in DA:I. Origins and DA2 I loved the healing spec and was sad it wasn't an option in DA:I.
My other main Inquisitior was a sword/shield Warrior, Champion spec, though I do rather enjoy two-handed Warriors also. I've never been much of a Rogue player in any of the DA games honestly.
