Well, we sorta derailed the Assassin's Creed Odyssey thread for a bit on the subject, so it seemed appropriate to just give us a dedicated space for discussing Buffy (and, for good measure, Angel).

I own the entire Buffy series on DVD. I absolutely loved it. She was an example of a strong, feminine girl who kicked the shit out of baddies. Sure, she had some typical teen drama but a lot of it revolved around the fact that she was a Slayer.
I never got fully into Angel. Might have S1 on DVD at my parents' house. It is in my queue on some streaming service (Netflix, Hulu, Amazon) so I might get into it eventually.

Buffy is my ALL TIME FAVORITE TV SHOW!!!! I first watched the movie and loved it as kid, then I found out about Buffy show because of Angel, I'm from spain so things here worked differently XD It was one of the Angel/Buffy crossover when I saw this blond girl called Buffy and I was like wait there is a show called Buffy? I own both Angel and Buffy dvds, some comics and a big load of action figures XD
I'm really excited for this sequel they are doing, even if I loved Buffy so much, it was white feminism, the fact the new slayer is black is awesome and I really hope to see Buffy and this new slayer kicking some ass!
I have read all the canon comics and Dark Horse run is finishing ... It's kinda sad.
I need an urban fantasy rpg with Buffy vibes in my liiiiiiiiiiifeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

I was an Angel fan first, even if I liked Buffy too (started with it)...but Angel had my heart. Sadly though season 5 really took the wind out of my sail there. Still I love both shows, and I wish they were still on netflix. I own all the seasons on dvd..but I think a few of my disks broke sadly. I need to buy them digitally or on bluray if they ever release in that format.

I guess if it's called Buffy then it would be a reboot. Not sure how I'd feel about it. They'd have to go in an entirely different direction for it to work. No covering the same territory because that will lead to comparisons and it wouldn't go well.
If it were me in charge, I'd create a sort of AU where Kendra survived and had her own adventures. I was so bummed when she died. I like Faith and all but I'd have loved for Kendra to stick around. Sorry for the crappy quality but it's all I could find.

I never got over this fucking universe. I still watch BtVS and Angel regularly. Angel more than Buffy, as I like the more noir-ish adult theme and most of my favorite characters ended up there rather than its parent show.
Currently watching Aftershow Reacts, Liam Duke, and Torchwood Boy's reactions to the Buffyverse. Vicariously experiencing shows that got cancelled fifteen years ago, awwyuss.

I gotta admit, I'm a little wary of a reboot/remake/continuation of Buffy if Joss Whedon is directly involved - a lot of the luster has worn off of him for me, given his more recent output and, more importantly, the open letter his ex-wife put out. Like, I realize he probably would end up with a voice involved no matter what, since it is his brainchild, but... I really don't think I want him making the creative decisions.
Still, I do think there's plenty of room for a continuation of this universe or even a reboot - the original show wasn't as intersectional as it could be, there's plenty of room to show a more inclusive universe than the original was. And it's not like there's no where to go with a look at the world of Buffy fifteen, twenty years later.

I would love to have more Buffy. I really don't want to equate that lovely world with whatever is going on with real life drama, but I can understand why it can't be avoided sometimes. (I don't know what happened in the situation referenced though and after watching some messed up stuff on tv today I think I'll save that for another time). I've had enough reality for now

Yeah, I've cultivated an ability to divorce horrible creators from works that I love, but it still makes me gunshy at best around anything new they put out, where I have to question if I want to support continuing to grant them a platform or my money, time, and emotional investment.
Buffy got me through high school and a series of bad life events for the first few years out of it. I will wash off the mud of it when I have to. It's just awkward at best looking at what might come next as a result of that.

I'm fine with a total reboot, or a different story set in the same universe. Either way it'll be nice to revisit the Buffyverse, and if I really hate it, I can always go back and watch 12 seasons of content and god knows how many comics and novels.  Also since no one else has mentioned it I guess I'll be shipper trash and ask everyone what their favorite ships are.  I liked Buffy's relationship with Faith waaaaaay more than any of her canon love interests (well, Fuffy was at least one-sidedly canon, according to Eliza Dushku). And I loved Cordy/Angel, that one was my very first foray into fandom. I also ship Darla/me.  |

Angel/Spike was kind of canon so I liked that a lot. Though I wanted Spike for myself. I also wanted Angel for myself....um..don't mind me and my expansive collection of husbandos.
