A few of us realized we were lacking a thread for The Sims franchise, and after recently giving themselves a new look and style, this seems like as good a time as any to make one! So discuss the series, post your Sims, talk about new content, share ideas... you know, the usual! --- I'll start off by talking about the new cover for Sims 4 (pictured above). As you may have spotted, it features an f/f couple and is the first Sims cover to include a same-sex couple! Since they've never shied away from showing straight couples on their game/DLC covers, this is much-deserved, and hopefully the start of more to come

I love the sims 4. I don't play it much though. I really should correct that, but with Fire Emblem coming out next week (Friday)-probably not soon. I'll look and see if I have some good screenshots. If so I'll share some in here edit style. Jaal and self insert I honestly don't remember these guy's names, but damn...I should revisit this save. lol!

I've honestly been mostly disappointed with 4. It's just missing so much. Even when we get a new pack I still feel like the gameplay is just not what I was used to from a sims game.
I have basically everything (pack-wise) from 3 & 4, and when you compare the two...well there is no comparison for me. There are many build features in 4 that I love though, and the graphics are so much better. Plus all of the create-a-sim features they've added.
Love occult sims, and I play with aliens and vamps all of the time so I'm excited for the new pack with witches!

It's just missing so much compared to previous versions. Also the pricing is terrible. 40 bucks for an expansion? like come on thats like 10 dollars shy of core game full pricing. I only have a couple expansions and packs for 4, City Living and Get Together and packs for Vampires, Laundry Day and Spa Day. I really love the supernatural stuff as well, Im hoping for eventual werewolf stuff. I am glad they did finally reveal theyll be doing a magic focused pack next.

I followed your lead You reminded me I could take selfies Amazing what a few mods, some of your own content, and a bunch of dedication can yield That's just the beginning. I have a lot more that are almost ready to go! Honestly, I find creating Sims as much fun as playing them Not entirely sims related but this guy covers sims stuff all the time. Paralives looks cool. Cool! Always good to have more games in any given genre, and being created by one person is very impressive! I'll try to keep my expectations in check considering that, though. Have and Have-not lists sound cool so far, although Pixel did make a good point that multiplayer would be pretty cool in this kind of game. Maybe that could be one of Sims 5's big things, if/when that happens? I've honestly been mostly disappointed with 4. It's just missing so much. Even when we get a new pack I still feel like the gameplay is just not what I was used to from a sims game. Love occult sims, and I play with aliens and vamps all of the time so I'm excited for the new pack with witches! I haven't played the Sims (besides 4 and only started somewhat recently) since playing 2 at friends' houses back in the day, so I don't actually know what kind of things have been lost for the most part. Probably a little blissful ignorance Although I do hear things like lacking a more open world, which does suck. Hopefully next-gen hardware enables this kind of thing again for the next game. This pack looks awesome! And it will suit a lot of my Sims, particularly ones based on characters with magic or other powers. From Loki to Solas to Sara, this'll be cool even just for RP reasons. So naturally I'm wondering exactly how this is enabled in Create-A-Sim, since theoretically you could bring it up mid-game and apply it to a Sim that's already in the world. Naturally I'd play through normally to acquire spellcasting with my main Sim(s) though.

I picked up the Sims 4 when it was free. I played 1/2 and a bit of 3 (it was so buggy for me and would kill my laptop). In some ways I am conflicted about 4, it is definitely less open than 3 and if you don’t have any DLC (me) you have very, very limited lots. In other ways it blows 3 out of the water (it looks nice and is super intuitive) but the traits in 3 were also just.... better and all emotions do is provide an easyily exploitable feature to make your sims perfect.
But I love it. Lately when I can play something I have an hour max to play, so The Sims 4 is a perfectly satisfying game to play once in a while and the non-issue of LGBTQ representation in the game is just so nice right now. Also Bob Pancakes is my perfect special cupcake and I love that I can have my simsona steal him away from whatever his wife’s name is no fuss and play house.
But also a part of me is like.... you were doing this when you were an actual child with the Sims 1. But then also, fuck that guy, cause I need a little perfect escapism utopia because adult life is fairly bleak.
So I recommend getting the Sims 4 on sale. I don’t know if they’ll do the free thing anytime soon but maybe.

BLEHHHHHHHHH!!!! Not interested in Uni at all. It was the most boring Sims 3 xpac imo. Hardly play it. I truly wish they'd made witches/werewolves/fairies an expansion and not just a shallow game pack with whatever the heck 'spellcasters' we got. Guess I'm glad the people who have been bitching all over the forums for Uni for the last several years are finally getting what they want though. Wonder what the masses will demand next?

So I've downloaded Sims 4 after that giveaway, mostly because I stopped on 3 and was curious how 4 was. It's super barebones. Like the creator has 10 hairstyles, 15 outfits, and no body options that I remember (like hair). And the decorator is the same. They've always relied on paid packs to make most of the money, but this is pretty ridiculous... Started looking for cosmetic mods right away. Of course I made Alexios and Lykaon, and Garrett and Anders. Alexios and Anders came out super meh, Lykaon looks pretty good, and Garrett is like spot on, I love the result. It's probably mostly the mod hair and beard, which I think someone recreating ME companions did. Some pictures

I like downloading a bunch of the already made characters on the thing and play with mods but I tend to overplay for a few days then stop lol. I like the character creating, interacting etc but Im impatient to do any of the work stuff and developing characters enough on careers and stuff. At one point I adopted a child on a couple and I end up regretting and deleted lmao. But hey self character was in a relationship with nathan drake, so thats one less thing on the bucket list XD.

Thanks! I mean, I always spend like an unholy amount of time in the character and house creator, and then play for a little bit, get the relationships going, before deciding the career and ageing mechanics don't really interest me. I've always played like this... Also, both couples, when left to their own devices, went between sleeping, eating, making out, and swimming. Which seemed unrealistic, but honestly is like, goals
