Summerfall Studios Game (David Gaider & Liam Esler)

Wow... that's... wow. Though coming from Gaider I shouldn't be surprised but yeah, if my interest in this game wasn't already gone, I think this would have put me right off. The fact he seems so intent on 'torturing' himself this way rather than hiring a lesbian writer, or hell, even asking lesbians/bi women for advice rather than fanfic prompts is worrying. If anyone's still interested in this game, expect the f/m to be far superior whilst the f/f is... likely going to be worse or problematic.

The thing about Gaider is that no matter how much you try and tell him the f/f content will suffer without female input, he's too stubborn to address the situation with anything but brute force. People have tried to talk to him in the past about things and he has only ever come across as a rude sulky man-baby.

Yeah, I'm definitely not telling anyone to boycott the game or anything like that!

Just be careful and get excited with a grain of salt, because I don't want people to get hyped up and then disappointed if this is how the main writer is approaching writing wlw.  I'm someone that was pretty let down over the fixed protagonist, but I was eventually going to play it anyway and angle for the f/f romance, so this is just all around kinda :/ sighhh.

lol Yikes at those tweets. Lesbians aren't some mythical creature, their relationships aren't any more mysterious than f/m or m/m ones. Like, just write them like they are people and then have a lady writer proofread it to make sure there's no /r/menwritingwomen weirdness going on.

You're a twitter wizard, you're like always fighting people on there or somehow getting game devs to talk to you and I don't know how you do it. lol

The thing is... Applying logic to Gaider is a fool's errand, I know, but if you're SO... I'll be charitable and say uncomfortable with writing for F/F relationships, why NOT hand them off to someone else? Someone who can do them justice that you clearly don't seem willing or able to do?

Honestly, between this and the rather dismissive way he handled people trying to say "the depiction of Sera triggered me/was exactly like my abusive ex," I'm really inclined to say that Gaider is one of those gay men whose disinterest in women slides into casual misogyny.

Like... I'm sorry, why, specifically, are you looking at lesbian fanfic PORN for this? Like, the impression I get of this game is that it's in a similar vein as Coming Out On Top or Dream Daddy, and while the first was sexually explicit and came with actual sex scenes, the later was definitely prone to tasteful cuts to black and explicit build but not actual explicit sex. Shouldn't you just be looking for lesbian ROMANCE? Even before getting to the gross way that lesbian porn is frequently just made for straight guys (admittedly not as big a thing in the realm of fanfic, but still...)

Yep. My thoughts exactly. 

Gaider is a mess. One of those people you have to respect for doing the bare minimum when 99% of people were doing less than nothing but now it feels like it is time for the braver, more passionate, and less bitter people to have more creative control. (Also maybe some day we should all have a chat about how his magnum opus, DA, has a ton of abuse (also sexual abuse) of women in it).
