Hey, I’m allowed to dream things will be better, right?
And, like I said above, I’d feel like a LI cameo would be mandatory in that. Like I said, I was thinking a jump of decades, so Ryder’s in like their sixties, no longer able to go galavanting across the cosmos.
Given Andromeda did that “tracking your psychological profile,” combined with how the tone wheel in Andromeda basically changed how you say something, not what you say (because I’d LOVE to have told Gil an outright “no” when he asks if Ryder’s thought about it before, but the options are pretty much two different deflections from answering), I feel like they kept Ryder’s charactization on the rails enough that, combined with a pretty major time skip, this could work. At least for me.
Like I said, I don’t think we’ll get another story featuring Ryder as the PC, that they were always meant as a one and done protagonist. The idea was just me trying to establish solid connective tissue, as well as provide a way to wrap up Ryder’s plot threads.

Hey, I’m allowed to dream things will be better, right? being optimistic? on THIS forum that was born from salt? I would love to see Ryder again and Jaal together, but yep after how DAI handled Hawke I'm not too thrilled about it, I guess one of the benefits of my Warden being dead is that he's not going to be brainwashed in the future if the Warden returns (I hope not) However, both sides of the argument are on point. TES and Fallout brings the player different protagonists without worrying about save world states and past protagonists and it works? (I havent played the first games but I read that). Like I said, it seems like Bioware has a kink for narrative suicide giving how every protagonist end up being bogged down by cliffhangers (pretty much every DA) and impossible endings (ME3) to continue with new stories without jeopardizing player's choice or even headcanon. edit. without even mentioning how well they go all bi style for companions and nobody blinks an eye. #tea

So how far of a time jump do you guys THINK we should expect for any subsequent Mass Effect? Like, I've said since release, I always had the impression that Ryder would be a one and done protagonist, and it does feel like the Andromeda storyline is something they HAVE to continue, that they really can't go back to the Milky Way, given how the trilogy ended?
Like, that's honestly part of the reason I put out the "Ryder as mentor" thing, because I feel like there would be SOMETHING new from the kett within their lifetime, but also having time for there to be significant changes to places like Eos, the Nexus, etc. Jump ahead decades, we're seeing room for changing landscapes and locations that can be similar but different, while still allowing for there to be proper followup to lingering plot threads.
I mean, I can also see them trying to sidestep everything - maybe there is no appearance by the Nexus, Eos, etc. and we're seeing a new staging ground outside of Heleus or something, avoid bringing up any connective tissue to Andromeda as they can while still advancing the story in this setting... But I feel like that's a little too mean-spirited. Like, it feels like there's no real good way forward here (y'know, like after ME3...), but they'll have to pick one.
