Gif SourceStardew Valley is a great, nostalgic game. Similar to a retro Harvest Moon/Rune Factory but you can be male or female and you can be gay or lesbian! It was actually made by a single person as a hobby/project and now it is one of the most popular indie games out there. I know a few of us are playing it or have played it so I thought I would make a thread where we could talk about it. Who did you date/marry? What does your farm look like? Tips, tricks, or mods you use?

I have it, but I haven't started yet. I'm saving all my big time sink games for when I am living on my own, and poor. I'm planning to romance the jock dude. I forget his name.

I really want to play this, but I haven't even downloaded it yet. I love the Harvest Moon and Rune Factory games though. Also, nocte, how are those parsnips coming along?

I do recommend it. The romances aren't as good as HM and RF in my opinion besides the fact that you can romance the same sex. The biggest draw for me is the customization to your character and farm. I haven't downloaded any mods before but some seem really appealing.
Plus when you think about one guy making it as a love song to those old games... it is just really charming all around.

Despite my reputation, I actually have chickens and cows on my farm now! *gasp* In in the process of working towards ducks. lol
I think Stardew Valley is a really cute game. I've been busy with you guys and work stuff, so I'm not as far as I'd like to be yet. I'm slowly working towards romancing Elliot, but I like a lot of the romances in this. They're surprisingly cute little paths for being a simple game.

Elliot was also my first husbando! I love author Fabio. I might go for emo boy or Shane next time.
I also think the romances are quite well-written for what they are and I pretty much like most other things about the game, too. I'm a lifelong Harvest Moon addict (I remember playing it at a time when you still called hotlines when you had a problem with a game you couldn't solve, pre-internet ladies and gentlemen, I am that old) and this is pretty much just a variation on the concept, after all.

Yay! I am a HM fan too! I started with HM 64 and I also love the RF games. Anymore they allow you to dress however you want. No gender lock on clothing so you can kind of fool yourself... but this is 2017 they need to get with it. Also since Natsume took over the HM brand I don't like them anymore, the team who made a lot of the older ones make "Story of Seasons" now. I have married Penny and Leah so far and they were both cute arcs. Penny had a crappy life so I whooshed in and saved her.

Am I the only one romancing Harvey? I'm too lazy to start another playthrough, but if I do, I'll probably romance Shane, because I have no idea what I should expect from him, while other romances are quite predictable for me. Good choice @andraste Penny and Leah are my favorite female characters. Always hated Abigail for some reason.

Harvey is my favorite male character and I considered romancing him. Abigail eats rocks and not in a cute Suvi way.

I have a mod that changes Emily into Ethan now and I kind of like the character as a hippy, new age husbando. lol

Ok, so I got this game (finally!) a few days ago and I am so addicted! I enjoy the variety of activities in the game. Also, there is a bit of a challenge to certain things, like fishing, which I actually enjoy. The characters are fun and interesting because they don't seem like they have cookie cutter personalities.
