I thought about creating this thread for every discussion, speculation, wishlist or theories we have for the next game. I chose that pic cause it's the closest thing we have to a hint for the next protagonist. Also, the post-credits scene they hinted the next villains. Who is the shadowy figure in the board and why this is so early in the game? Who made this? Every single protagonist is represented there, the griphon for the Grey Warden, Kirkwall's coat of arms for Hawke, Inquisition symbol for the Inquisitor, the dagger for Rook... Hmmm and they are outside the board so maybe... we are going out of Thedas? Totally fresh start? The wait is going to be a long one again, hopefully not that much as Veilguard was, but time is least hostile if we are discussing next to a fire and hot chocolate right? Lets go!

Nick just finished yesterday and is already preparing for the 5th game ANYWAY, Now what I will say will be full of hopium, but I'm very aware that this all depends how well Veilguard ends up doing in sales and how well things go working on the next Mass Effect. But pretending everything is fine and going by this image and the secret ending here are my thoughts: I do think both this and the secret ending have a very common theme of all the games are connected, and it seems that for the next game they will go back to making a big connected game via the Dragon Age Keep or something new to do it. The reason I say this is because in the secret ending we see a montage of how the executors (presumably) managed to cause events to happen on each game, we don't know how, but I don't think they were puppets or mind controlled or anything like that. My example would be in the film Wonder Woman, if you haven't seen it, Diana is on a quest to take down Ares because she thinks he's the reason World War 1 is happening so she wants to defeat him to stop the war. At the end of the story, Ares reveals that he didn't really cause the war, he only provided the tools for them to go to war, but he didn't have to motivate them or anything, just simply give them access to act. So that is how I see our new enemy "in the shadows" is working. I seen some people doing rage videos that this destroys Loghain and other characters, but is a huge jump conclusion, the bad guys will always try to make themselves sound so grand and big but in reality only did like the tiniest little thing to contribute in these character actions if any. Now the thing that's more extra here in this picture you post versus the ending, is that it shows us this image outside the board. And given the connections it could be a new protagonist yet again. One working outside of Thedas... I'm not sure yet on that one but is possible!
HOWEVER, I do think both things can also hint the return of the other protagonists as guests in the next game. And yes this part is a huge maybe hopium, BUT the reason I say this is because during interviews and Q & A's of Veilguard, John Epler, the creative director of Veilguard, said that questions like the fate of Hawke are not answered in this game, but they will be answered eventually. This is also mentioned in a few other choices that are not tackled in this game. And well what better way to answer them then a new game that does actually use The Keep decisions? On top of the fact that dragon age 2/champion of kirkwall is referenced twice here with this image and video if we connect to that. The other fact is that the executors impacted the lives of all these protagonists is pretty important! My only concerns with this idea however is that it is essentially 5 character creators they would have to deal with. But I mean with a new engine and better technology I can see them do it. I mean Dragon's Dogma 2 you create 2 custom characters but you run around with two other extras made by others. So I don't think is impossible to figure out a way, with only the caveat being that of course they are not going to have a huge role and would be more like the inquisitor in Veilguard.
Anyway that's my tinfoil hat theories atm, but I know for a fact they always had like a drafted story of where they wanted these games to go for multiple stories, so them possibly having a big final game for the arc of all these games seems possible they had some drafts prepared. We just gotta hope things go well for Bioware in the coming years to happen.

Oh thank god I'm way too lazy to insert spoiler tags and I thought about making a thread like this myself lol.
And I definitely got the vibe that if we get a DA5 it's going to be set set outside of the currently known map.
It just felt like the idea of the wider world kept popping up here and there all through out Veilguard.

Thanks for starting the new thread! It feels so strange seeing "Dragon Age 5" up there after such a long wait for Veilguard! Didn't the developers say that they originally outlined the Dragon Age franchise for five games? With the reveal at the end of Veilguard, it really does seem like the next game is going to wrap everything up. I wonder how much of the original vision is still there, what's been cut/changed, etc. since they originally drafted out their plans for five games.
I don't think I'm ready to leave Thedas yet. It feels like there's still so much more that we need to explore before moving on. Like, what about the rest of the Free Marches for example? I'd love to visit Starkhaven! Or what about Orlais? We never truly got to see it because of how poorly they designed Val Royeaux and there's so much more to that Empire. Tevinter is also so much more than just Dock Town, and Rivain is so much more than just the beach where we met Taash. It really feels like there is a lot left to explore before moving on. They off-screen war in the south also feels like it could be it's own game entirely...but that might just be me. Every time I read a letter from the Inquisitor I thought about how awesome it would be to play through that war against the Darkspawn again in the Free Marches, Ferelden, and Orlais.
Whatever happens, I guess I can't really complain because in the end it's more Dragon Age! I just HOPE we don't have to wait another 10 years this time...but I guess it also depends on when the next Mass Effect will be out since that seems to be their focus now.
