MEA (probably never finishing this tbh) Too bad because it's a fun game.

So I was playing Fallout New Vegas-and it's been years since I played it last. I think I forgot just how unbalanced and difficult the battles are. I am in freaking power armor and a giant green geko nearly killed me in seconds. Honestly, I have been giving this my best shot, but I honestly can't remember why I liked this game so much. The story I guess-but the combat is shit. I think I'll play something else.

Games I’ve started but not finished: MEA (probably never finishing this tbh) FO4 (I’ve only recruited Pres, prob not finishing this either) Gears of War 4 (Halfway through already even tho I just started recently) Dishonored 2 Prey (the game bugged out and it took too long for them to fix it so it’ll take some time to get back in the mood) Tomb Raider POE II (still haven’t played I) I’m a mess. Tell me about it. I'm still working through my Steam backlog. I've stopped my MEA playthrough until I (eventually) upgrade my processor. Besides, there are games in my backlog that I'm much more excited about (Dishonored, Alien Isolation, Dragon Age Origins, etc.), so it's been pushed pretty far down my priority list for now.
Incidentally - I recently finished Tomb Raider (2013). I liked the gameplay well enough, but the story...needed work. I can definitely see why Nick dislikes the reboot Lara so much.

I just finished two games. Fez - I had to replay this, I missed it. It's a game from 2012 in the vein of Undertale and Shovel Knight - pixel nostalgia that reinvents the genre. It's a puzzle platformer, where you switch between 2D perspectives of a world that looks 2D but is actually 3D. The mechanic is superbly done. Definitely recommended. And I love the idle animations for animals in this game, the attention to detail is insane The second is The Longest Journey. I'm preparing for Dreamfall Chapters, and since I've only played Dreamfall TLJ, I decided I might as well do the whole trilogy. It's a neat adventure point-and-click game, it made me think of Grim Fandango a lot. The story is good, and the characters quite charming (minus some jank usual for games this old). The puzzles mostly make sense (minus the ducky and candy ones, that was insane), and if you pay attention you don't need to combine everything with everything and hope for the best. But you have to check the diary a lot, and often I've solved something before I was told, why I need to.
The biggest flaws of the game are the painfully long animations (for example, slow characters walking through or exiting the frame will stop the action for 30-40 seconds, and the game never bothers to try not to waste your time). The setting that lets you skip a few frames forward with escape is pretty much necessary. The second is that the character models are upsettingly ugly. This is the protagonist, April, and she has the best model:
Thankfully the other games in the series look a lot better. For comparison:
Zoe in Dreamfall and Kian in Dreamfall Chapters Also, Kian is voiced by Nick Boulton and totally *spoiler* and I can't fucking wait. I'm glad I started the series from Dreamfall. Waiting for Chapters was painful enough (the second game ended on a cliff hanger...). Waiting between 1999 and 2006, and then till 2016 (or 2017 for the final cut) would have been torture. Off to Dreamfall now, I've forgotten almost everything since 2006.

Done with Gears of War 4 (and I have to thank POE II's bugs for making me pause my playthrough). It was overall quite enjoyable.

Tonight I've been playing Fire Emblem Fates: Revelations. I'm at that point in the game where I have almost all the characters (save a few of the pc exclusive extra spouses that I don't use generally like Flora (aka shiny Felica ). So I have to grind character bonds 5 ever. I've only got 2 more couplings left thankfully Benny and Hinata both still need to marry (I picked Beruka and Selena for them if you were curious) then I can get back to doing more fun things-even though I have to admit some of the kid recruitment quests are not that great. Really looking forward to getting back to the main quest, and getting the gay happy ending. Which I already read online so erm-still I have been looking forward to beating the third path with Niles and the male PC!

Xbox one has finally got Dragon Age 2 on backward compatibility. It means... that I need to play it! But it'll be different from my usual canon and I'll see if it'll be better. It's been a few years since I've played this title for the last time. So... Female Hawke (as always). Mage. Mostly Elemental/Force. Diplomatic this time. Romance: Merrill - I usually romanced Fenris but I've heard great things about her and most of them were like "she's basically elf version of Liara romance" so I'm gonna try it. I adore her as a friend so it should be easy. Pro mage Grey Warden Carver Team: Aveline/Fenris/Carver/Anders, Varric/Isabela/Zevran, Merrill. For most of the part it'll be Aveline, Varric and Merrill. At least I think so. I might change my mind and go with Fenris instead of Aveline but she's a god among tanks so... I'll see.

Last game I played through and finished was God Of War, which I absolutely, positively LOVED. So good, loved the combat, story, everything. It's the first time I ever "finished" (i.e. the main story content) and then immediately went back to play again on a higher difficulty.

And very soon with Vampyr & Jurassic World Evolution. Why they release game at the same time like this? My money is not that ready haha

I finished Fire Emblem Fates: Revelations again. My top 5 units were: 5th place with 199 victories was my dearest Niles (married to my male unit yay for gay marriage!) 4th place with 237 victories was Takumi (I heard someone call him taco meat once...it stuck in my head) 3rd place with 312 (and I'm shocked his numbers were that low) went to the almost invicible Ryoma. Seriously that guy is super broken. He has the best dodge and defense and can kill anything with that awesome attack and his broken ass sword! love him! 2nd place with 322 victories is my PC who I named Milo. I kept him in his personal role of "Hosidan Noble" though I did train him in a few other classes for skills. He and Niles actually got listed last since they together had a better kill count-but on his own merits he felt just short. I'm surprised cause I usually don't think of him being a killing machine, but this time top honors went to Xander with 338 victories. I always thought of him as being the lesser Ryoma since he's mostly just a tank-but he clearly showed up for me this go round.

Okay, I beat another two games. That's more in 2 weeks than in previous 6 months... First off - Guacamelee, the Super Turbo something something edition. It's a side-scrolling action platformer. The setting is basically Día de los Muertos, but you're a luchador. The art is nice and it has a lot of humour (and a ton of references to other games). But it has issues. I played the special edition, and there were still bugs (most notably during the final fight). And it's pretty punishing. I wished for an easy mode at times, because both the platforming and the fights can get tedious. I didn't unlock the second ending, and I never will, because the challenges to get it are just ridiculous (including actual trials with medals). Second - Broken Age. "Please don't tell the trees I'm in here, ok?" A game by Double Fine (Grim Fandango, Psychonauts). I love their games, so of course I was going to play this one. The crowdfunding was a little shaky - they ran out of money, and had to do the game in 2 acts. I played the first one ages ago. Either way - it's a cute adventure game. You play as Vella and Shay, teenagers from different worlds, and you can (and sometimes need to) switch between them at any moment. The cast includes Jennifer Hale, Elijah Wood, Jack Black , and many more popular VAs. There's one major plot hole is Shay's story, and the ending is abrupt. Some of the puzzles in act 2 are tough, too. But overall it's hilarious and lovely. The characters, the world, and the humour are always Double Fine's strong sides, and this is no exception. Definitely recommend it. And I need a hexipal/hexigal

So I tried out the free to play game "Pokemon Quest" tonight on Switch. (short review of the game so far spoilered for space) I started with Eevee. you can pick Eevee, Pikachu, Charmander, Squirtle, or Bulbasaur. It's apparently going to release on smartphones sometime soon. It's not a terrible game but it's not a good one either. Its block pokemon style is pretty cute, but everything running on a timer is quite annoying.
Also, the way you befriend pokemon is far too random-but I think the system will work okay if I don't get too stuck on trying to catch the ones I want instead of just the types I need. The way it works is you put ingredients in the pot to make a recipe and then it starts a timer of how many expeditions you need to complete to cook. You have to look up the recipes online or guess based on the hints they give you in game-but I don't think you get the hints till you make something already by accident-so yeah look it up on serebii.net if you want to play it. each recipe friends at least one pokemon from a pool tied to that recipe. I got 2 pokemon almost everytime so far which is nice...but I only got one on one occasion.
The expeditions are pretty short and each time you start one you use one energy point out of 5 (at least for me at this point 5 is the max...though I broke the max a few times cause of quest rewards). Quests are like little challenges you can do for rewards like "knock out a certain number of normal type pokemon" I completed a lot of them just through normal play-I haven't really tried to do any of them on purpose as of yet. I think that's probably what they had in mind.
Anywho back to the energy points. once you run out you have to wait till they refuel naturally over time, or use the in game currency to buy more energy I guess...eh-the currency I believe though is better horded up till you can buy the decoration items that give nice passive bonuses. But I guess like any other F2P game you can use whatever strategy you like. So yeah...that's Pokemon Quest basically.

I've wanted to play Broken Age cause of the Elijah Wood being in it, for a while now. I will get to it someday! Do it! He is great in this, but I think Vella's VA was the best. I didn't rush it (but half remembered act 1) and it took me around 9 hours. Just be sure to whip out a notepad for act 2. I'll add the least spoilerific trailer ( do not watch the "launch trailer")

Good to hear. I adore him! I will get to the game soon hopefully. It seems my list of games I missed is quite large at times, but then I feel like there's nothing to play at times too.

Waiting on the content for Pillars of Eternity 2 and DOS 2 to come out later in the summer before I jump back into those. In the meantime, picking up where I left off in my Sims 4 household. My alien sim finally bit the bullet and had a baby with his hubby. I can see the desire to become a super villain and destroy all humans in her eyes already.
They grow up so fast.
Especially when you get impatient and plan a birthday party like 2 weeks before they are scheduled to grow up...
