I finally got around to playing through Dawnguard for the first time (still not finished). Because Serana is heavily involved in the main plot, I decided to forgo my hubby tag-along and bring her. I've been pleasantly surprised with the various bits of dialogue. It's a shame that they didn't do more followers like her. She's not up to the level of a Bioware follower, certainly, but she seems to have more content in the small time I've played with her than Marcurio has had in several hours of play, exploration, and combat. It's one of those moments that bring forward that this is an element that Skyrim is missing. Also, there was a nice roleplay opportunity in one of the dialogues with Serana! After asking her about her own family, she asked about mine, and I got this nice selection. I think it's one of the few RP opportunities you get in the entire game. Serana is, IMO, the best follower in any Elder Scrolls game; she is integrated into part of the story, has unique dialogue, gives RP opportunities and is good in combat. You can see the influence she had in how the Fallout 4 followers were designed. Honestly I always do Dawnguard as soon as I can (after becoming a Werewolf) just so I can have her as a follower for the rest of the game. Having her & Aela along makes a really good team.

Well, I've encountered a verifiable gay couple in Skyrim; no implication here. But... they're both dead. Figures. I don't pay that much attention to NPCs in Skyrim, so I'm not sure if there are others, but this is the only actual same-sex couple I've observed in the game. At any rate, you can see their sad story on Solstheim. One guy moved there and started hearing noises from the dwemer ruins in his basement and they began to drive him mad. His lover, a mage from Solitude, is worried and eventually makes the journey there to find him. You know that they're a couple because the letter blatantly says "my love"; no ambiguity there. You find some bandits in the basement and then the mage guy's body near the dwemer ruins. The other guy is not even in the house, but is near a boat on the shore; I'm not sure how he died. There isn't a quest or anything, it's just there in the world for the player to find. I'm sad now.

This is tragic indeed I didnt know this, and I wouldnt expect even this from Bethesda, even with bury you gays included to get some tiny hidden representation, same happened to me with Mel in Fallout 4 who is gay (he doesnt die and he's a really cute side character that flirts with only male pc) or the lesbian couple at the beginning of the game (again bury your gays trope). I thought Bethesda (except New Vegas, Obsidian team) didnt include queer npcs before playing their games, it's a surprise because I would never expected for them to include them, but it's awful regardless, Bioware is still the best even with their issues in this matter of representation with non-companions. Is this from Dragonborn dlc?

Is this from Dragonborn dlc? Yes, they're on the Solstheim island. You can find the house just up the coast from Raven Rock, so it's not hard to find or out of the way.

That's just the soundtrack. I can see how this would appeal to audiophiles with money to burn.

If you're playing SSE, someone made a list of all the male follower mods. Nexus forum link. Here's the very first guy on the list, and he's marriage eligible. I'm sure some of those are ports from Oldrim, so it's worth looking there as well if you're still on Oldrim.

I kind of started playing Skyrim, although it was unintentional. I'm on my brother's PS4 at the moment. I wasn't going to play Skyrim until much later, but now I think I am going to start it properly as soon as I have my PC again. I was pretty much immediately drawn into the world. The huge map and open world was pretty overwhelming at first though! I'm loving it! I'm already falling for Farkas and Vilkas, although I think I have a slight preference for Farkas! Davrin's boobs This game is full of gorgeous men. I am totally hooked and can see the appeal the game has. I can't wait to dive in deeper and work on building my OC! I'm a bit sad I will have to leave all this progress behind though when I switch over to PC!

Originally yes, that was the plan before I really knew anything about the game. I've decided that I want to play through the main game/storyline first without any mods. I wouldn't be surprised if I hit the 100-200 hour mark of playtime before that gets done! This game is massive and so full of life already without any mods! There is so much to do and I feel like what I've seen is only the tip of the iceberg! It's been so easy to immerse myself in the world and get easily distracted from whatever quest I was doing to find even more to do! It's been so much fun! I've been busy buying property and becoming Thane! Not only that, but I married Farkas and adopted a child and I am working on our home!!! I love him so much and I absolutely love that we can have a child and multiple homes together! I also really like the homemade meal thing! So sweet! While I am spoiled by the depth BioWare has for romance and companions, I just love that there are so many eligible bachelors and bachelorettes in this world, not restricting the type of person you can fall in love with and not giving into stereotypes/tropes BioWare has. Hopefully someday, some developer out there will find a healthy balance between depth, variety, and roleplay in the romance department! Farkas and Vilkas are totally the types I would fall for in a more story-driven game with more companion importance/depth. I can totally see what Inquisition tried (and failed miserably) to replicate. I can't believe it took me so long to get into this game! I'll definitely look into mods though when I am done!

I tend to keep mods to a minimum, not sure why. Something in the back of my head won't let go of the fact that it's not "the game as intended", which is stupid but there it is. I do download the "cities enhanced" mods though. Just adds lots of plants to the cities, makes em prettier, that's mostly it. I like Bethesda's approach to romance, shallow as they are, I can fill in the details in my head, just gimme those lovely options! I romanced Farkas my last playthrough when I went mage. Favorite part: When I cast healing spells on him he replies "Hey that feels... really good!" in that gravely voice.

Regarding Elder Scrolls LGBT, there's that guy you help in Oblivion in a quest around Leyawiin where you find the body of his deceased boyfriend/lover/whatevs. Sorry I don't recall his name offhand, it's been nearly a decade since I did that quest! I know there was also a suggestion that Sabine Laul and Rasheda were lovers but other than having a house-share arrangement that's possibly a bit tenuous.
I suspect there are others if I can actually get my brain into gear.

Also Ghorbash the Iron hand, he does not approve of being healed, however. Next playthrough I'll go for Derk. I just need to find a mod that stops NPC's from dying to dragons/vampires randomly, that's my biggest headache with the game.

And you have to rescue him when you first meet him, how romantic.

All the talk of how Bethesda isn't going to make a new ES game because they're working on 'new' things makes me sad.
I feel like a grumpy old woman. I don't want to try new things. Give me my old things back. Except not old, new old things. You know what I mean.

Right now i just want them to give Fallout to Obsidian again, we won't see the next ES for a while no matter what I'm afraid.

And It feels like lately all of my favorite games have been screwed over/flat out abandoned for the shiny new. If something made you a ton of money why the heck wouldn't you follow up on that???
