That was fun. Good that they weren't afraid to push the story on. I'm definitely glad that they've adopted a more arc-driven approach.
"There's a clearing in the forest. That's how they go!" - Stamets in the middle of the jump sequence. Something tells me that line has significance...
So after nine episodes, what do you guys think of the portrayal of Stamets and Culber's relationship? As a straight guy, I don't feel qualified to comment other than to say that I buy it, and I like the way that it doesn't define them. They are first and foremost a brilliant scientist and a doctor, but they happen to be in love, and that's treated in-universe as being entirely normal. I think its a good portrayal, as you said they are first a scientist and doctor. |

I really liked the finale episode. The things Stamets says in the middle of the jumps remind me of the almost mythological jibberish the Cylon Hybrids would utter in Battlestar Galactica. I used to love that. It made the whole jump process sound quasi-spiritual. I thought that in his contact with the multiverse, he might have seen something important, but that didn't make sense without all the context that he was also seeing... |

I'm impressed by how important Stamets is. I was worried it was going to be another 'gay in the hold' situation like with BioWare, but he's basically vital for the ships special spoilery ability, he's fleshed out, interesting and loveable. So I'm happy.
