I'm not really into the Farcry series but part of me really wants to play Farcry 5 just because of the amount of people on Twitter & Reddit freaking out about its box art. Outlast 2 also had right wing villains. I like this new emerging trend in video games that the evil people are right wing Christians.

Also in Far Cry 3 and 4 they sorta have this theme where you turn into something similar to the villains, or you basically become as bad as them. I don't wanna become a right wing Christian. And I'm speculating just what that 'sinner' on the bottom left has done to be called that. Any guesses?

It's like... no, I'm murdering you for my own self-defence and to protect others. You're murdering me because a pig skull on a crucifix told you to found a fundamentalist incest-cult. But I know media (and a lot of people IRL) are super hung up on this idea that all killing is equally bad, regardless of context and circumstance.

I think it's weird that some people are so into weighing all violent action as the same. If killing the murdering cult members is how I get to live to see another day, then I will totally do that. And it's not the same as their plot to sacrifice me to their pig god.

Just a general heads up y'all may find interesting GOG is having a sale on some really good RPGs right now. System Shock 2, Deus Ex, the recent Shadowrun games, Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines, etc. They're especially good if you have an old/low-powered PC that can't run modern games.

Several new trailers for Far Cry 5 have been released! Official Announcement Trailer {Spoiler}https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Kdaoe4hbMso Character Trailers {Spoiler}
I'm definitely reserving judgment until I see gameplay, but I'll admit the announcement trailer put a dopey grin on my face. Possibly because I loved the music (kinda weird, since I don't normally like country much at all), I think Montana is a fraking gorgeous state, and I want to learn more about the villain and what exactly has been going on in Hope County. Also, I wonder what year it's supposed to be set in; somehow, I'm getting a bit of an 80s vibe. -- Sorry for double posting, but I thought this merited its own post.

So Far Cry 5 is definitely ruffling some Conservative feathers. Good.
I'm wondering who the protagonist will be. A gay black man/woman not from America? That would be pretty awesome.

So the protagonist can be a man or woman, black or white or maybe other races thanks to the CC. That's awesome.

You know, I'm kinda missing some good 3D platforming games. I know Yooka-Laylee is out, but the appeal of pure nostalgia can only do so much. That, and I think the idea of collecting ten puzzle pieces, eight stars, 100 musical buttholes, seven singing douchecanoes, six rainbow pride crystals, fiiiive daaaating siiiiims- has lost its appeal.
But the part of me likes the whole neat and tidy organisation of it, like, there's a water world, and then there's one based on the idea of going through all four seasons, and then there's the scary terrain your character's got to traverse.

If both of Bethesda's new, secret IPs are RPGs and one of them is Starfield (space RPG), what genre do you think the other might be?
They already have medieval fantasy (TES) and post-apocalyptic wasteland (Fallout). Maybe it could be like a gritty urban cyberpunk dystopia? Or Urban fantasy? Something that takes place in the here and now but with a sci-fi or fantasy twist.

I've played FF XIV on and off since ARR released, but it didn't really keep me playing mostly because of questionable class design decisions and my distaste with almost static limited resource systems (I hate TP ) So as I've been browsing net, I've hit upon video with some of the class changes proposed for Stormblood and then read upon it, and I have to admit, I'm starting to look forward to it. Also, Red Mage...finally a spellsword class that seems like it's done right...even if I would've changed resource generation from spell gen -> melee spend into the other way around.

So Far Cry 5 is definitely ruffling some Conservative feathers. Good. I'm wondering who the protagonist will be. A gay black man/woman not from America? That would be pretty awesome. I don't really play shooters, but my boyfriend is really interested in Far Cry 5 now that we've heard all the pre-release news that's coming out. It's interesting they chose to go in this direction with the franchise.

I mean...the "good guys" seem to be gun nuts (even including a priest?), one would think they would feel right at home

I hope Far Cry 5 has a good villain. Loved Vaas & Pagan Min and bought both games only for them.

Every time they give us a dog in a video game i'm terrified the writers will kill it off, "for the feels". I'm happy i'd be able to make an Asian or Latino character, but if that dog dies no way am i buying it.
