Here's the thread to rec things you find that you think others should watch.
If asking for recommendations: Add what genres you're looking for and anything you don't want to find in the recs (for example, no Bury Your Gays or no dead pets)
If recommending something: Add the genres, where you can watch it, and the reasons why you think it's worth the watch

animeshit thats really atypical in a good way: Kinos journey: a series of one-shot episodes where Kino..well has a journey.. its very much about the human condition and I adore it to no end.I love Kino, I love the story, its sad and funny and happy and.. just really quite something special. I also read Kino as nonbinary, you dont have to, but you can, I think.. so thats like.. A MASSIVE PLUS FOR ME FOR OBVIOUS REASONS
another "similar" thing in the sense that its often more one-shot episode, less about action, more deliberate and slow, is "Mushishi"its again about our relationship to the environment and also again.. weird, because it deals with things that are neither plant nor animals.. "mushi" and are invisible to almost anyone but special people who can see and deal with them... When humans and mushi interact it can get..problematic, so this series is about Ginko, someone who can see mushi and how he tries to deal with them in a way that is the best for everyone involved.. the episodes are soften slow and deliberate, the art is subdued but gorgeous, same goes for the music. Its not something action packed but very mellow and imo, quite beautiful. the Third: Haibane RenmeiIts weird. Its fucking beautiful and emotional bu its again really weird.. (you see a pattern?) its about Rakka, a "haibane" (something akin to an angel, but not really like one) who wakes up in a walled city with only one gate where nobody but mysterious beings (that arent haibane) can enter or leave.. and sometimes Haibane disappear. Artstyle from Yoshitaka Abe (design for serial experiments lain, another weird series that is very much VERY WEIRD and mind-fuck galore..).. yes, it is a pattern. .) its again less about action or such but about "human.." better "haibane" interaction, character growth, friendship, develpoment.. ist beautiful..

Interesting - especially since Neill Blomkamp is involved. I'm curious about what the aliens' actual intentions for humanity are, since if they actually wanted to exterminate humanity, there are dozens of vastly more efficient methods than "send foot soldiers to kill them off personally."

Obviously they're here to take Ark and whisk him away to a utopia of reptilian sex.

Asking for some anime help! firmicute I have a CrunchyRoll account, and I am looking for something new. I have watched HunterXHunter, morose mononokean, Mushishi, Attack on Titan, My Hero Academia, Fullmetal Alchemist, and JoJo's Bizarre Adventure. I've tried Naruto, but I think it is far too late in the game for me to even be interested at this point. It doesn't have to be action packed, but I'm bored with Slice of Life stuff, except for Yuri On Ice.

I can recommend Tsuritama if you're into fun/weird "out there" shows. Very visually stunning, too. Speaking of visually stunning, there's always Mononoke. If you like shounen, a couple of my favorites have been D-Gray man (the old version, haven't seen the new) and Katekyo Hitman Reborn! (I'm not a big shounen fan though.) If you're into eerie/horror try Ghost Hound or Shiki. EDIT: And since you mentioned Yuri on Ice, I highly recommend sports anime like Haikyuu!! and Ookiku Furikabutte.

you like really good psychological horror? try "Monster" Its really good and a finished series, so you won't run into issues that crop up in super long series (i.e filler and a visible decline of authors motivation or love. See: bleach) Another thing I would consider almost mandatory watching are movies by the Great Satoshi Kon (sigh.. so a great talent and died too young) Tokyo Grandfathers, (the depiction of an older trans women is imo good- It never feels disrespectful or demeaning, Kana isn't made fun of, she is accepted as a woman, there is no ugly deception trope that crops up far too often) Perfect Blue (psychological thriller, unsettling and creeping horror, the human image/person as a product to sell, idol-culture in japan and the psychological effects of marketing oneself as product...combined with losing ones self, paranoia etc. Its pretty hard stuff but great and I feel satoshi never loses respect of the characters he depicts.) serial experiments lain: Mindfuck. About reality, identity, connection, isolation.really hard to explain, very atmospheric. I like it altho it can be hard to get into and it is super slow (deliberate) some people may find it boring and too artsy, so this again is something you may like or not.some other recommendations I couldn't watch but think may be of interest? welcome to the NHk.. its weird, it fits the definition of a tragicomedy.. Deals with hard stuff but its also funny and sad.. the characters are really unique and all are in some way sympathetic but also unlikable. It also deals with a lot of modern society topic but in a unusual way.. Its really hard to explain tbh, you may have to look up an episode to see whether its for you or not. myanimelist.net/anime/1210/NHK_ni_Youkoso! anohana en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anohana:_The_Flower_We_Saw_That_Daya series about the human shape hole that death rips into a group of friends about grief, about how hard it can be to let something (like old hurt, grief etc)go its sad and hopeful and beautiful.. Shit I REALLY want to watch too: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kamichu! I'm interested in religion in general(1) so anything that uses this not only as a backdrop but as a way of story and character building and can teach me new interesting things I wouldn't know is appreciated. I don't know whether that is on crunchyroll-as I dont have it and the german version will be different anyways. and Descending Stories: Showa Genroku Rakugo Shinju an anime (based on a manga) about the japanese art of Rakugo- where a single person tells a long comedic story with two people and has to depict those two different characters only with light variation in inflection, body language and minimal pose (the storyteller sitzs in seiza the whole time) So this is about a guy who got out of jail and now wants to learn the art of Rakugo- so in that way its rather traditional story of someone going out to master an art or craft, but the subject makes it interesting to me because I've never heard of Rakugo before. (this is what i like about anime and manga- the abilities to tell stories about such things like.. learning this art, go, learning how to bake or a manga about wine-tasting (yeah..weird but intriguing)
1(a reason why i like (short manga recommendation!) Kurosagi Corpse delivery service.. Horror, comedy, really interesting characters and its super educational about shinto and buddhist customs in japan regarding dead, ill and similar. Its not for squeamish people.. i mean it deals with dead and that can be pretty ugly. But its also very funny and interesting and the characters are intriguing.. its works mostly on 1-shot basis, so every story is self contained but some are related to the main character, who can touch dead people if they have died shortly before and talk to their spirits.. He's made the delivery service-(they find bodies and ask them where they want to go) together with a dude that can dowse bodies, a gal that is great at embalming and conserving bodies, another gal that has really good abilities to find people and an alien channeled in a hand-doll..)

Anyone here watch Orphan Black? It is on its final season and every episode so far (only two this season) I'm a nervous wreck. I need to discuss!
