Rented 'All Cheerleaders Die' on Google Movies last night and it is shockingly good. It is far better than the sum of its parts, cos it's parts are some trash teenage horror film tropes e.g. the goth girl is a witch, the horrible jock is a rapist etc but it all comes together really nicely.
And there is gay.

This is playing at my local arthouse cinema on Tuesday. Might have to go and see it. When they played the trailer last week, my Mexican wife said that even she needed the subtitles. Those are some thick Chilean accents... Actually the film was much easier to understand than the trailer. I thought it was very good. At the screening we went to there was a short interview at the beginning where the director described how the star was initially contacted to be a script consultant. Many of her experiences informed the script (although he stressed that film is not biographical), they became friends. and by the time he was ready to cast the film, he asked her to play the lead. I think she did a great job.

So without spoilers does "Call me By your Name" end well or is it another sad gay movie?

Thanks for the heads up. I was afraid that might be the case since people were saying it was award worthy and such. Generally, if something is critically acclaimed I'm not going to enjoy the ride it seems.

The film itself is actually pretty good though! I jumped with joy when I heard a song I was actually familiar with thanks to it being set in the 80s and the "Valley Girl" soundtrack, haha. Apparently there are plans to produce more films with these characters/story, but unfortunately it seems that the first is going to be the only one with a gay romance plot from what I've read...so i can't say I would be interested.

watched Princess Cyd on Netflix - a really sweet heartwarming film. The relationship that develops between Cyd and her Aunt is very sweet and honestly somthing I've never really seen film before. Normally Aunts are either kooky or boring or trying to replace a parent, but Miranda was just being herself. She wanted Cyd to like her but she also wanted Cyd to get to know the real her. Miranda is my idol now.

So I've just finished watching season 2 of the currently canceled (for a second time) show "The Shannara Chronicles". I was unsure if I should talk about it here or in the Netflix area-and too lazy to see if it's been brought up yet.
Anywho, I put it here since one of the main characters is a bisexual female named Eretria. I am also happy that there were some gay male moments too-not great though-but there have been at least once they showed 2 guys kissing in the background while establishing the room so to speak-and other times where they were sitting together in a romantic setting and such. So I feel like they tried. -shrug- Anywho...
I found the show pretty awesome, but yeah you can tell it struggles with finding its tone (and its channel given it started on mtv, got passed to Spike, and now it's shopping for a new home). Still worth checking out on Netflix perhaps!
The show itself is a fantasy/post-apocalyptic mashed with elves, demons, magic, etc. Good stuff. Wierd shit! lol!

I was sad to hear about the Ruby Rose backlash.

Yea, I don't really like her cause shes just ur usual beautiful girl lol I mean nothing original in her she still is wlw so lgbt community didn't show their best side with such critisism towards her The worst was to see russuan communities reacting how gays don't like other gays as well I was sad to hear about the Ruby Rose backlash.

Lady Artifice I don't know, if Happy Endings belongs on that list. They clearly make fun of the categories ( Belgian waffles) and Max ends up being an optimistic red velvet walrus (although he's totally a sloppy bear). The show did a good job of painting Max as Max, not as the gay guy. Also, regarding 30 Rock's "naive kinky shaved" - where is the lie.

I totes knew you'd have stuff to say about the Happy Endings parts . I should probably watch the show at some point. Better yet, you come here and watch it with me. I'll make you marshmallow popcorn.

I'd love that. Also, I never knew marshmallow popcorn existed and now I really want it. I've been watching snippets of it yesterday, and reminded myself how much I miss it. The episode with the piƱata in S03 is just too funny.

I'm trying to watch Sense8, and I really wish I liked it better. It's frustratingly how clunky it feels to me.

I just have to reiterate how much I love "God's Own Country". I can't even watch the last twenty minutes without tears streaming down my eyes and sniffling. I can't remember the last time a movie ever touched me so deeply.
Because I'm a freak about this movie, here's what one reviewer had to say:
"This is not a movie about coming out and the collateral damage that ensues. It's a universal tale about giving yourself over to love, even when you seem hopelessly broken."
Another: "Director/writer Francis Lee's electrifying feature debut is a working-class, fun-house mirror version of "Call Me By Your Name's" upper-class pretensions and is equally, if not more, rewarding because of it."
"To see O'Connor and Secareanu breathe life into these guarded men who choose to drop their defenses, and bring out each other's best selves in the process, is to watch a barren field grow lush and green."
"Earnest, honest, accurate, and unrelenting, this is the true romance of the countryside, dung-splattered boots and all."
"What impressed me most in Frances Lee's haunting debut is how it is so full of affection and tells so much even when the characters say very little in their scenes together, moving us with the intensity of their growing feelings for each other in a mostly silent, restrained way."
"Combining gritty realism with poignancy, the result is a film that is exceptionally moving."
"Though the film is being widely compared to Brokeback Mountain, writer/director Francis Lee actually creates a far more believable and sympathetic scenario." This one is dead on. BBM had nothing on this movie.
