I gotta admit I had zero interest in a Dwarf romance, but if he was as hot as Lacklon...I'm down.

Personality always makes a difference for me - I remember not giving Fenris a second look when the DA2 characters were revealed, but Anders’s romance just pushes me away and, as a character, Fenris really fit for me. And of course there was the pre-release for Inquisition, where I was excited for Dorian, and then I actually MET the guy.

Lacklon is for sure hubby material but I like his boyfriend more Roland is 👌👌👌 those are a perfect for each other makes me so happy I complain when Bioware fuck it up but damn that was a win from them, good job writer team! About the species, I dont really care about it tbh, its true that elven are less attractive to me but Fenris exists. I just want that KISA Bioware is not hard to do it or the ginger pirate that could be a lords of fortune berseker??

If there's only two m/m romance options again, I could do without either of them being an elf. I am a bit elf phobic - I guess if I really like his personality I could deal with it but the fandom is so weird and gross about elves I know they'll ruin him for me. I'd be most interested in a dwarf when it comes to a non-human option.

Thinking about this more, the leak gameplay was most likely early game. Rarely do people play test late game content.
BioWare usually introduces your first squad mates as human characters. BG1/2, Kotor, ME1, ME2, ME3, MEA, DAO, DA2, and DAI all follow that (with DAI challenging that the most but Cassandra is the first companion).
There’s also weirdness though going on with the PC’s class in the leak. Both Davrin and the PC are labeled Grey Warden. So if this is an early game mission, Davrin might be human, but if we are actually seeing some sort of origin section of the game, that line of thought is useless.
I also just kinda am afraid to speculate I realize… cause this game almost feels like vaporware.

I'm hoping that this whole "acknowledging Varric aging" thing is an indication of him not being a companion, or, at the very least, that they're not going to go in the so begged for Varric romance direction - look, silver foxes are, by definition hot and all, but I don't think trying to go in that direction worked with Blackwall, since my impression of the fandom has always been that he's dead last in the rankings of Inquisition's romances (I'm not saying that he doesn't have fans, just that they make up the smallest piece of the pie of Inquisition's options). Also, side note, since I don't think I've said it here... I really just cannot get onboard with calling it "Dreadwolf." Like, first of all, my inner editor can't get past the fact that it's always been two words in the past, so it bothers me. Secondly, of course, there's just my general dissatisfaction with Solas as a character in general, so I don't like him getting the title of the game. And, on top of those factors, calling it "DAD" for short... Nope, doesn't work for me either. So yeah, in my mind, this game will remain "DA4." And yet if Blackwall were bi he'd totally have been my canon romance choice in Inquisition because I have issues with Dorian, and I have to hand wave and head canon a lot of stuff about the initial start of Iron Bull's romance. (Plus Blackwall's concept art was super hot, it feels like they nerfed him to let other romances stand a chance. XD)
Dreadwolf is a dumb name and naming mechanic and it just makes it sound like the game is all about Solas and I am so tired of Solas and Solavellan shippers and all the promotional material focusing only on him. I didn't care about him much in the game and I care even less near ten years later.
Romance wise I am very basic. I know we won't get another male Qunari romance so soon so there's that hope dashed but I am still hoping for my Human KISA. We've been denied an m/m KISA every time and it's about time we got one. I don't mind Elves but honestly none of the Elves from the past game did it for me. I tried Zevran, and Solas's romance and it was okay but just... idk not really for me. The Elves in DA:I were twinky and the playable one bobble headed with broken arms which put me off them even more. Maybe if they give me a beefy burly Elf to romance I'd be happier. A Dwarf could work but idk I'm boring and like Human's and Qunari the most. But most of all give me a beefy Warrior to romance pls, preferably a KISA but I'll take someone with dubious morals if I have to. I just want a Warrior to romance okay.

I still believe that Blackwall would've been a lot more popular if he had been a gay or bi romance option. It was such a wasted opportunity. He would've easily been my canon choice.
I don't want to get my hopes up because I know I'm just going to be disappointed with the options or the one I want will be straight yet again.
We're probably still another year off at minimum anyway for release...if we're lucky maybe they'll start doing companion reveals later this year.

Honestly, after Jaalgate, I'm a little scared of looking at info before release. I know I'll do it, but damn I hope I don't fall hard for anyone before release as I did with Jaal!

I really don't want to go through a Jaal situation again. At least with DA:I they pretty much announced who we'd get to romance so there was no 'will or won't I' though I remember at the time wondering if Bull'd romance my Qunari Mage considering everything about his background. Turns out I had nothing to worry about with that, but I def had other issues with the start of his romance.
Either way I will try not to get as invested in the companions once they're revealed as I know I will no doubt end up disappointed otherwise.

you binches are going to be invested no matter what, we like the pain and the suffering one thing that kinda worries me is that if Bioware fuck it up again in mlm deparment, I hope the community is just united as it was with makejaalbi, and I'm not talking about this forum or the bsn, the MELE campaign was ok but I thought more people were going to support it but so many gaymers were kinda meh about it, I remember one gay spanish twitch streamer that ditched the idea and I unfollowed him in the moment lmao. I really hope Bioware took notes from MEA disaster though, I remember gaycaravaggio saying that her source told her that they were going to be more careful when it comes to mlm, the comment is somewhere in bsn lost in time haha

Gonna try to keep my expectations low in regards to romances because we all know their past history with it was less than stellar I bet there will be people who will crave for the gay character and demand it changed to be available to them while pulling the "well you changed Jaal, so why not this?" escuse

So the latest blog post is just really lots of dev talk, nothing about the game lore itself unfortunately and a lot of people are upset backlashing against it on twitter. I mean the game dev stuff is nice for those passionate on the craft but that's something you really dive into after the game launched, not before. That said the biggest takeaway I am seeing is that the skill trees will be closer to the Andromeda freedom ones:
For those wanting to see it:
I hesitated to even post about it but at the off chance someone might be interested, wanted to pass it on lol.

they keep showing that skull guy, mortalitasi spirit? its becoming more probable he is gonna be a companion, I wonder if Bioware is gonna have the balls to make him a romance and joining in the Fane train lmao, personally I hope not, cause Fane was cool and my canon romance but that was in a game where choice was a thing and every companion was bi, but if they are doing the 2 mlm 2 wlw 2 mlw 4 wlm again ( ) I dont think wasting a slot on a literal dead guy is a good idea lmao the update was very meh, they keep dragging actual info for sooo long, hopefully we see something in near months

Mark Darrah returns to Bioware as consultant, previously executive producer of previous DA games, to help ensure the launch of the game, as well as part of the mass effect team working on "Mass Effect Next" has been moved to finish the work on the game. Now given we know the game was entering alpha and was said that all the groundwork was made, and that this phase is now polishing everything that's there, this seems like good news for the game not delaying too much, as they are gathering more of the team to ensure the quality is there, and Mark has experience working on all 3 previous games, so he's likely going to ensure it feels like Dragon Age. Can't say any of these elements will impact romances though, as that likely lies a lot on who's on the narrative team which I'm not familiar with atm.

It’s been a while since I’ve posted here… anyways Mark Darrah has posted a video talking about his role in the next DA game here:
The video is not that informative, but he answered some questions in the comment. Some key points were (from a post on Reddit): - The game is “definitely not” in a situation like Anthem’s - He did not consider having 3 companions at a time in a squad core DNA of DA franchise. - He is very confident about the state of the game. - The game can be played from start to finish.

Beefy Titans welcome back Dirk! DA:D not being in the same situation as Anthem is reasurring but they only words! but who am I kidding like I enjoyed MEA after Jaal bi-wakening and there was a lot of backlash, damn I'm playing The waylanders right now and that game is an unfinished mess in the second era lol just give me a cool story, a cc and a loving bae and I will be happy so I'm not the best person to do opinions about technical stuff I dont know whats gonna happen with the party members but I do not like the idea of having less companions, since I always like to take 2 always with me with the last one in rotation but ME has only two so I will adapt if thats the case. I really hope we see some actual info about companions and story before summer tho

If there truly are just 2 companions at a time this go around I hope they got rid of the whole need for having 1 mage, 1 rogue, and one warrior for exploration.

The big problem with two companions for me is banter. One of the things I like about Dragon Age is that the characters will chat with each other and build their own dynamics, but two companions mean you've only got one pair of people who can talk to each other while you're wandering around. That's going to make the relationships feel a lot more limited, and it's going to make it harder to mix and match to get a bunch of companions interacting with each other.

Yeah, I'd say that three companions HAS been a core component of Dragon Age games - the Warden, Hawke, and the Inquisitor all have three companions, the standard tends to be one warrior, one rogue, one mage and the player. Plus, with Inquisition having environmental aspects that need one of each to be there to unlock everything (shatterable walls, locked doors, and assembling paths), dropping that down to two feels genuinely restrictive.
Plus the involvement of a third character in occasional banters is always fun (Aveline responding to Varric and Isabela discussing "friend fiction," for instance). I feel like if that changes, something valuable is lost. Maybe it's not essential, but it is worth keeping.

I hate only two companions just because banter is such a highlight of the series, but then I remember that in DAI they couldn't even get the banter to work properly so I guess it hasn't been a priority to them in a while.
