I feel like you guys were being unrealistically hopeful to think CD Projekt would be more accommodating to women, or especially LGBT people. The Witcher series was the "dudebro dream" and that's their base now. Having a gender select CC and gay LIs was probably always about as likely as Bioware making a set straight, white dude protag for their next IP. They've already claimed opposite sides of the spectrum and probably aren't going to reach too deeply towards the other. I mean, of course I would love to be wrong on this, but that's just my expectation. They'll mostly hold to their main audience.

They do dudebro stuff for dudebros - and have been quite successful at it, so I doubt they'll try to reach out to more markets anytime soon.

translation: we never even thought of giving players a choice in the gender of the protagonist and now that you've asked I have to make up a reason why we didn't do it and prove I'm not sexist by citing the only female game character I know the name of. I'm sick of this crap. Women are treated as a super special game feature that can easily be cut out or not even considered. And I doubt there will be a m/m romance for those same "financial reasons" Yeah, I just did some research and it appears this is yet another awesome looking game, but... with a fixed male protagonist. So yeah, no thanks. I'm just way too sick of this shit, and the lame ass excuses for it, to want to spend my money on any RPG developer that thinks this is still okay in 2017. Like, the Witcher I get because it's based on books about a specific character. But here there's no reason for it. Whatever it costs to make that an option (and it's been confirmed by developers who can bothered that it's actually not that expensive) will be made up for by the fact that female gamers, you know, exist. And a hell of a lot of us are more likely to buy a game if we can play as our gender. Hell, last I heard, even Cyberpunk 2077, which I spent years looking forward to, will supposedly have a fixed male protagonist, despite it being based on a tabletop game where you could be female. If this turns out to be true (I'm still hoping whoever wrote the article with that piece of info was misinformed)... there will be no words to fully express my disgust and disappointment. Hmm, a few months ago I saw Cyberpunk 2077 CC mockup leak with female character. BUT it was on 4chan, so... I don't know what to think about this. Anyway, I'm not expecting anything more than fixed male protag with tons of female characters to bang. It's CDP Red after all. It works for them.

I like that nipples are the devil, but the rest of her breasts? A-okay, out there in all their floppy glory.

Well all games can't be Conan Exiles with a dick slider. (Yeah, I know boobs != dicks, but women don't have anything else that sticks out.)

nocte Maybe it's one of those special bath things with the fish that eat dead skin? If he's done it before, he might be used to it.

On Cyberpunk 2077, this article has a quote from the creative director that suggests a female option (it is from 4 years ago though). Also lol I found this through a reddit post of some guy asking if the protagonist would be female because he "would much prefer to have a male protagonist."

Fixed straight male protag in an RPG game has me go like But yeah I don't look toward CDPR next game. Apart from cyberpunk setting, nothing else interests me.

And I've never been to one of those weird dead-skin-eating fish pedicure things, but the fish in those are small, lol.

I was hoping ProjektRed might have learned, but apparently not.
I guess we're going to get boring white generic manpain the game version 4.0, to go along with the Witcher series, and all the women will inexplicably be in heels and have their breasts out.

Yeah, I don't really get where people saw the makers of Dudebro the series would set out to make anything that didn't cater specifically to dude bros moving forward. I mean it would have been nice if they did, but it just isn't very logical to think they would. -shrug-

I think part of it is within the title itself- when you have genres like steamPUNK and cyberPUNK, a lot of what they set out to address when they were originally created in the 80s/90s was the fundamental inequality that's present in other works of neo-Victorian or science fiction, including LGBT and gender issues, and very often disability and race as well. When you're slapping that label on your game, you're declaring that, to a certain extent, you're going to address some aspect of it, but obviously it could very much not be true and they could just be using the veneer or trappings of the genre as pretty set decoration and little else.
