I know that the version on Amazon is uncensored, and I'm pretty sure the Google Play version is too. It's weird, because apparently The Magicians has been airing f-bombs uncensored for a while now. |

I just finished watching all four of the new episodes. I am not disappointed by the new season in the slightest; this is great, and I can't wait for next Wednesday when the next episode airs. Unfortunately, it's hard to remember what scenes happened in which episode - everything flowed together really well. So, spoilers for everything up to S3E4 Bobbie and Avasarala's banter is one of my favorite parts of the show. "Well done, madam."
The space battle in Episode 2 was great; I'm happy that we're getting at least one good space battle per season. I hope Spacedock will do a video on it - the sort of tactical thinking involved seems right up his alley. I just wish it hadn't been cut up like it was; it really threw the pacing off.
I like Anna, though her lack of red hair throws me off given how it and her Russian accent were her defining physical characteristics in the books. The actress definitely has her attitude down perfectly, though.
Poor Theo. Cotyar saw the Renegade interrupt and took it.
I kinda ship Souther and Cotyar, not gonna lie.
I can't wait to see more of the inside of the Nauvoo. IMO the designers really nailed what a Mormon generation ship would probably look like, right down to the temple-style murals on the walls. I wonder if any of the corridors will have carpeted walls...
Holy crap that gore at the end of S3E4 took me by surprise. It's completely in character for the protomolecule, but after Eros' body horror was significantly toned down for the show adaptation I didn't think they'd go that far. It was also a good move for Jules-Pierre Mao's character development - sure, he may have a soft spot for kids, and Julie's death may have devastated him, but at the end of the day he still signed off on the murder of over a million people for the sake of science and would do it again if he thought it'd provide results.
One complaint I have is the time ambiguity - how long has it been between the beginning of S3E1 and the end of S3E4? Days? Weeks? At most I'd say about a week, but that seems like an awfully short time for the UNN and MCRN to suffer such catastrophic losses...then again, their ships have been sitting within or near firing range for what's probably been months at this point. I'd estimate at least half of both sides' losses happened within 48 hours of the declaration of war.

Just finished S3E5. GOD DAMN IT Nguyen killed Souther. I hope Holden or Cotyar blows that bastard's frakking head off. Especially since, if we're considering a throwaway line from the books canon, this means Souther's the third named gay man to die in this series and fourth LGBT character (along with Franklin DeGraaf, Julie Mao, and Private Sa'id).
*Edit: thus far the surviving queer men in the series are Craig (Frank DeGraaf's husband) and Cortazar (the ex-Protogen scientist with induced sociopathy, whose orientation was discussed in the books).
Anna and Namono Volovodov had better be left the hell alone.

Hold on, Mei - your daddy's coming to save you, and he brought the goddamned cavalry. Also, Alex leaving his family in the dark for so long was incredibly shitty, but it's nice to see that his son still cares about him at least. I wonder if we're going to see him again in the future. Book spoilers It's incredibly weird to see Naomi mentioning Marco and Filip to Holden this early in the story - in the books, it didn't come up until book 5, at which point Holden and Naomi had been together for years. I wonder if the Inaros group is going to come up on the Behemoth. |

I give it 1/5 odds of getting picked up by another distributor like Amazon, Netflix, etc.; either would be a better home than SyFy, given how the distribution rights and SyFy's website streaming have been borked since day one, but the uncertainty isn't great. At least we have the books to finish the story if it comes down to it. Plus Souther survives in those.

The showrunners are saying that they are looking for alternative ways of continuing:
“We are very disappointed the show will not be returning to Syfy. We respect Syfy’s decision to end this partnership but given the commercial and critical success of the show, we fully plan to pursue other opportunities for this terrific and original IP.”
Here's hoping Netflix or someone else puts up the money...
