season 1 trailer: season 2 trailer: after a crappy trailer that seemed more like a marine fueled testosterone romp through destruction, this series has been one of the best sci-fi themed television for a loooooooong time. honestly, i was not very impressed for first few episodes, all the characters had a spot on archetypal role, everybody was suspiciously attractive, montage and narrative flow was very "by the book". this of course continues, more or less, but what impressed me in the end was incredible attention to the detail, consistency, beautiful camerawork and even if it was "by the book" it is a GREAT example of it, no half-assery here. in short- i find the show amazing, some moments were incredibly dramatic or gentle and i can't wait for season 3! (oh, there was a gay hot black guy from mars, very minor role {Spoiler}
of course, he dies later in the series any other fans here? and btw, Shohreh Aghdashloo has one of the most amazing female voices i've ever heard.  |

Yay! An Expanse thread!  I've been a fan ever since I started reading the books shortly before the TV series started. It's a great watch for anyone who likes the Wanderers video by Erik Wernquist; our solar system is vast and beautiful, and I love seeing sci-fi that capitalizes on that. in short- i find the show amazing, some moments were incredibly dramatic or gentle and i can't wait for season 3! (oh, there was a gay hot black guy from mars, very minor role {Spoiler}{Spoiler}of course, he dies later in the series any other fans here? and btw, Shohreh Aghdashloo has one of the most amazing female voices i've ever heard. Minor correction on that first point - Ambassador Frank DeGraaf is the one who dies; he's the white man from Earth. His husband Craig is the Martian guy I think you were talking about, and he survives.
It's also briefly mentioned in the books that Admiral Souther is gay. Given how the second book ends, how Season 2 ends, and him being transferred to the UN's Jovian Fleet, I'm hoping we see more of him in Season 3. I like that it was by the book. Too many tv shows/films sacrifice so much plot consisency when they do adaptations and for such a large scale thing I feel it's the right choice (well with some changes bc it had to be made sure.)
Unless that's not what you mean by the book then delete me.

So, anything in particular you guys are looking forward to or hoping to see in Season 3? Caliban's War spoilers The battle of Io. After the Donnager battle in season 1, and the battle of Thoth station and the battle of Ganymede in season 2, I can't wait to see the climax of Caliban's War.
The Agatha King sequence. I was honestly kind of disappointed by the shift away from Eros' horrific book portrayal, so I'm hoping they embrace the horrifying side of the protomolecule if this scene makes it in.

"We need to talk." Abaddon's Gate spoilers Anna Volovodov! She was one of my favorite characters in the books, and I can't wait to see who they pick for her.
Lots of scenes inside the Nauvoo/Behemoth/Medina Station. I love O'Neill cylinders, and we saw in Season 2 that they've been doing special effects work to portray the ship's interior.
The slow zone in general, and the messiness that it causes in particular. Not sure they'll go so far as to show people getting torn in half by bulkheads, but I imagine they'll make it as messy as they think they can get away with.

I just got to the end of season 2. It wasn't released on Netflix here until last month. It's becoming my favourite sci-fi show of this decade. I think I may have to read the books.I totally agree about Shohreh Aghdashloo. I especially love it when she drops a strategic f-bomb. Do it! They're fun reads. I agree about her strategic f-bombs. She's incredibly foul mouthed in the books, so it was nice to see them letting her swear more in season 2. |

Just popping in to say that I finished the most recent book, Persepolis Rising. It was really good, definitely looking forward to the final two books in the series.
Also, Anna Volovodov has essentially been confirmed to appear in Season 3; she was one of my favorite characters, so I'm excited to see her on screen.
Speaking of Season 3, I really hope they ramp up the marketing before it airs this spring - I personally don't see a Season 4 happening if the viewing numbers don't improve, given how expensive it is to produce.

Thanks for finding that non region locked mirror; I don't know why the international distribution rights for this show are such a mess. Personal thoughts Oh my, Amos has a beard now; I approve. Substantial book spoilers It wouldn't surprise me if that shot of Holden in the airlock is the "We need to talk" scene from the very end of the second book, Caliban's War; based on the pacing of Season 2, I'm betting it'd happen around episode 5.
Also, I think those final shots are from the UNN Agatha King sequence towards the end of CW, with a glimpse of the Razorback. |

I'm guessing the plot of Caliban's War will be resolved four or five episodes in; Avasarala's speech sounds like something that would've fit at the very end of Caliban's War or within the first third of Abbadon's Gate. It'd also fit with Season 2's marketing, which mainly focused on material from the first four episodes. Also, if the pacing goes as I predict, there's going to be a massive reveal or two about halfway through the season, so it'd make sense for them not to show off any material beyond that point.
