 Since we're going to be interpreting romantic subtext as friendship now, I'm assuming you also interpret Warren's crush as friendly platonic stuff too? Well I said I could see where she was coming from, but said I'm in your camp did I not?  It reads pretty strongly as romantic/unrequited crush subtext to me. But it's just that - subtext - so someone who reads it differently isn't necessarily wrong IMO. Ashii had a point about powerful friendships and people that can have a big impact on people. I think the fact we never actually see Chloe interact with Rachel would make it a bit different, too. For Warren, I'd say it's more obvious because of that - we actually see it playing out. I just think it's a little... strange to go "this obvious gay crush is just subtext and up to interpretation" while a similar hetero crush somehow isn't. |

Look, all I'm saying is, if Chloe was instead a male character, I don't think people would interpret the whole Rachel thing as just totally completely platonic friendship with nothing else to it whatsoever.

It's obviously different with Warren. He's not really subtle, is he? Plus, Max's entries in her diary also speak for themselves and people constantly tease her that he's got a crush on her. Chloe's not exactly subtle either. And Mr. Jefferson pointed out Chloe's thing for Rachel ("Don't worry I'm sure they're fucking in heaven") Hipster guy that kidnaps young girls to take photos of them says that two of them are fucking in heaven. What a surprise...  I really don't see it. I just see friendship between Chloe and Rachel, is that so bad? Even IF there was something more I'm sure as hell won't pick this option, cause that would also mean Rachel was sleeping behind Chloe's back and then with Jefferson as well. Sorry, but I loathe people like her. |

On a semi-related note, it just occurred to me that we're going to be seeing various characters we met in the original through Chloe's eyes. And, remember, Chloe's known these people by time of the original series far longer than Max (who arrives when they're both about 18).
I'm assuming we're not going to get to almost-kinda bond with Victoria Chase the way Max could by the end.

Actually my Max didn't bond with Victoria at all. And from what I've seen, it was good. When I tried to warn her about Nathan, she didn't believe me and thanks to that, she wasn't kidnapped by Jefferson. That really surprised me. But I am curious what kind of relations Chloe had with other people. I remember her commenting on Kate to Max. Something like "I know her, she's cool." Btw, I was thinking about the ending of Before The Storm. It shouldn't be really branching, imo, since it's a prequel and our choices ultimately won't matter in the original LIS. But! I think it'd be cool that at the very end of the game a time skip could happen, where Chloe enters the girl's bathroom and she meets Nathan. Then he draws a gun on her and suddenly fire alarm kicks in... |
