So I'll go ahead and post the trailer for The New Mutants that came out last night/this morning. My gut instinct is screaming at me that this movie is not actually a horror movie. It's one of those movies that are angsty and dark, and don't really fit well into drama or sci-fi, and the studio decided to market it as horror cause they don't know how to sell it. I mean if it's a story about young Mutants coming to terms with the fact that they are not normal (and it pretty much has to be?), and accepting that over the course of the film, how the hell do you juggle that while running from spooky ghost BS. I'm not saying it will be a bad movie, but I think it's being very deceptive. I could be totally wrong of course, and it's a marvel horror movie that shoves the mutant storylines to the side in favor of jump scares. spoiler though: One of the mutants in the new mutant comics has the power to make illusions based on her emotional state, so if she's scared she's gonna make scary illusions. I'm pretty sure the scary stuff is just gonna be her individual subplot.

It seems that Moonstar is going to be the lead character in the movie (at least this is what I read today) which it's pretty great because the character is native american, and her powers are really cool. Maybe the scary things has to do with Illyana (Magik) but I dont know if FOX is going to have the balls to add demons and magic to their cinematic universe. I'm totally disconnected from this movie though, I didnt even know that Maisie was in the movie edit. Maisie is playing Wolfsbane? HOLY COW THAT'S SO STARK AND SO COOL XD edit2. the main villain is Demon Bear, now the trailer and the fact that Moonstar is the lead character makes sense

So, I did a lil bit of a Friday the 13th binge during the weekend, lol the sequels are pretty terrible and the 2009 remake isn't an improvement either, it was sooooo bad. Didn't have the low budget charm that the 80s original had. Plus all the cast were really fuckin' annoying, just so goddamn douchey and uninteresting, I was rooting for Jason, these people were just too dumb to live.

Didn't see this trailer in the thread and I wanted to share. It's got a really interest premise, could be good if they pull it off.

A reviewer i watch didn't speak very highly of it. Horror films are mostly either trash or amazing so I wouldn't expect a reviewer to be that into it, but of course it could be offensively bad like the Babysitter another film with a cool premise and terrible execution.

Let me know what you think of Alice once you watch Nightmare 3 and 4 Andrew Mancer I've finally finished the Nightmare On Elm Street films and I LOVE them! My thoughts: NOES: This one is definitely a classic and probably the "best horror film" in the franchise. There is a certain charm to it that the others just don't have.
NOES2: Ah, the gay one. I'm definitely biased in loving this one because of the gay protagonist and gay lead actor. It's certainly...different from the rest, but I think that only benefits the film and makes it stand out. It's also a nice change from the usual "final girl" thing horror films have.
NOES3: I loved the concept behind this one! It was interesting giving the characters unique personalities/powers in their dreams and I loved the return of Nancy. I admit I did end up crying when Nancy died at the end...I hate seeing the "final girl" get killed!
NOES4: I loved just how extremely 80s this one was! It has one of my favorite characters/deaths in the franchise. I was disappointed that Kristen was killed though...but I absolutely loved Alice as a protagonist! She was easy to relate to and sympathize with and I loved the end sequence when she went against Freddy.
NOES5: I think this one was a step down from the last film, but it was great seeing Alice again....and her surviving unlike the previous two final girls!
Final Nightmare: I honestly couldn't believe I was laughing while watching a NOES film,! This one was absolutely hilarious! I loved it! Freddy was great, but the characters were less interesting.
New Nightmare: It was good to see Heather in a leading role again. I love the concept behind this one as well. After finishing the Nightmare films, I moved onto the Child's Play franchise. I love those films as well and I wanted to go through them all to watch the latest release, "Cult Of Chucky". Cult Of Chucky was so much better than I had expected.

I really have to check out the rest of a NOES, I've only seen the original and have lately been making my way through the Friday the 13th series. Watched the Freddy vs Jason movie this weekend, oh boy was it silly but, that's the point ain't it? I enjoyed it more than I thought I would, those dudes really went all out, some of the scenes were hard fuckin' core, watching Kelly Rowland gettin' bitchslapped into a tree, holy shit wasn't expecting that! Damn, these "teenagers" get older every year huh. As horror antagonists go tho, I prefer Freddy, bitch.

I'm not one who is easy to scare when it comes to horror movies but, The Exorcist is one of the few that legit creeped me the fuck out. Exorcist III was one of Jeffery Dahmer's favourite movies btw. How do I know this? I watched ALOT of serial killer documentaries over the years.

Watched Pumpkinhead last night and it was amazing. The best creature feature horror film I've seen in a long time. Pumpkinhead's design is amazing and I love how he toys with his victims before he kills them. In most creature features the monster kills because it is in this nature, in this Pumpkinhead enjoys killing people and he savors every moment.
I'd recommend it.

In the month of October, I watched (no lie), about 3 dozen horror movies. Like 3-4 on my days off and at least one most of the other days of the week. And I'm not at all mad about it.
Any recommendations of something in the genre of "The Others" or "The Awakening"? I'm in the mood for some slow-burn, creepy, period piece horror.
