Arue is bi, but Camellia is straight I think. I think second bi female is Wenduag. Her portrait is not finished in alpha . Also seems she and Lann are mutually exclusive companions. For what i've seen Daeran looks intriguing for me. He has very interesting companion quest from what i gathered. Sosiel's quest will be about his brother and Daeran about his past.

Glad theres 2 bi men this time instead of one. I like both so far! Sosiel is refreshing Can we confirm he is the first CISA (Cleric in shining armour)? Arue is bi, but Camellia is straight I think. I think second bi female is Wenduag. Her portrait is not finished in alpha . Also seems she and Lann are mutually exclusive companions. For what i've seen Daeran looks intriguing for me. He has very interesting companion quest from what i gathered. Sosiel's quest will be about his brother and Daeran about his past. wait that character is a companion? I could swear that was a in-game portrait for the main character in Kingmaker? so that would be two good aligned -wlw and mlm- queer characters and two bad aligned -wlw and mlm- queer characters, that's nice and an improvement from the first game but I hate when a vg developer choose to do different sexual orientations because wlw and mlm players always get less, oh well!!

Ahh! Bi Wendaug is even better then! Not rly interested in Camellia. Davrin's boobs I think Sosiel is a cleric of Shelyn so CISA! Also that portrait is def a placeholder char portrait from kingmaker. Always looked like a necromancer or something. I wonder if Wendaug was one of the stretch goal romances added for the "+2 romances" goal.

Daeran is a Oracle that does healing. He sounds pretty cool tbh
Stories about good-hearted outcasts that rebel against the corrupt and unjust ways of society are not uncommon in folklore and literature. But this is certainly not the story of Daeran Arendae – a young and spoiled Mendevian noble who lives a life of debauchery, in a constant little war against the knightly, almost exalted, ideals of his homeland.
A decade before the events of the game, young Daeran was the proud scion of a thriving noble clan, one of the oldest in Mendev. His ancestors rose to power long before the Worldwound opened and forever changed the fate of their home country and the whole world. Rich and powerful, the Arendae family was touched by celestial forces, with each generation being blessed with one or two aasimar children, Daeran among them.
But it all came to an end when a powerful lilitu demon decided to invite herself to Daeran's birthday feast. When crusaders opened the gates of the Arendae family estate a few days later, they found nothing but desolation and death. All the guests had been killed by a demonic plague, with the young count, now the last member of the Arendae family, being the only survivor.
An unknown divine intervention saved Daeran's life, granting him the powers of an oracle (you can read more about the Oracle class in one of our previous updates). On Golarion, oracles don't choose their fate – they are chosen by cosmic forces and receive a gift that is also their burden. Daeran's gift was the healing power of the Life mystery, combined with a curse that makes him freeze in situations that require immediate action, but also protects him against sudden attacks by treacherous – or even invisible – foes (the Powerless Prophecy curse). He is a valuable addition to the team, a talented healer who can also use divine power to assist allies or crush foes.
Today, if you hear Daeran's name, it's either followed by curses, news on the count's latest scandalous endeavors, or flattery and praise of dubious sincerity. Joining the crusaders seems to be his latest excess, done either out of boredom or for the sake of scandalizing society. Keeping company with Daeran is an adventure all its own, as his main gift is, perhaps, the ability to bring some rampant festivity even to the harsh reality of the crusade!

How come more people are not talking about this game here, especially now with beta and more info on the way? It seems Sosiel is indeed our (first?) KISA type gay romance in a mainstream CRPG. He is very goody goody though, I'm kind of afraid he could turn out to be a bit boring? Or one dimensional and naive? He does look like that from what I've seen on 4chan thread. Daeran definitely looks like your standard Zevran,Dorian etc. He could be interesting and it seems like he pretends to be more evil than he actually is. Definitely has a sweet spot for PC. I want to like Sosiel more but he seems like the most boring of the bunch, saccharine sweet and basically gay Anomen. Is depraved bi Daeran going to be the only reasonable option if we're not looking to puke out rainbows? :/ I'm not playing beta, trying to wait for the full game, but been spoiling myself rotten on threads. Does anyone have more info or takes on these two characters, how they function and develop through the game? Most other forums just shit on Sosiel because he's gay (while discussion minutiae of impregnating Aru) so thirsty for info here. Lee can we change the name of the thread to include WOTR now too?

I think Sosiel being a good boy would be somewhat refreshing as I know a lot of people were turned off by Regongar. Having played Kingmaker he and his romance aren't as awful as I thought it would be but it takes a lot to power through it and there are things about him and his romance that could be off putting. Sosiel being goody good doesn't necessarily mean he will be boring though. I think a saccharine sweet romance will be quite nice, especially as you've got the other choice of Daeran (or Lann if playing a female character.) - I've found some banter for companions, mostly romance related among other things. Companion spoilers obviously: Take with a pinch of salt as this is what I've found from various sources.
Daeran - Has a soft spot for Ember and when it comes to the romance he seems actually rather sweet. (Seems you can leave him as is personality wise or make him a bit softer. I assume something like how Regongar changes.) Sosiel - All points seem to lead to him being an m/m only romance and he's possibly a virgin. If you romance him as evil it apparently leads to an abusive relationship that other companions comment on. (He seems very happy and in love on the opposite side of that however.) Camellia - Apparently a bit of a psycho and cannibal. You can't change her though apparently she says she'll 'try' and be less fucked up. Arue - Can be corrupted back to an evil succubus.

farferello thanks for the great info. Knew some stuff, few bits were new for me Yeah I can understand how people would be leery with regongar situation. I liked the redemption arc/option with him but it lacked some substance if i remember correctly. From what i understood, companions should have more reactivity and life this time around. Agree, Dearan seems like an okay option in sense that he can be softened up, I have trouble playing evil and it seems you can be real psycho in this game. I appreciate the option, but neutral cynic it the furthest i can go with it for a serious playthrough. That said, I can appreciate and prefer a good aligned char like Sosiel, especially for romance. However have a problem with naive idealists. I guess im just hoping sosiel will be more than that and have a well developed and interesting personality beyond being KISA. Anyway, I defininitely intend to romance him, and im happy about him being an option. Im more nitpicking and fishing for info i guess

Another thing that strikes me as interesting is the style of writing characters and plot in pathfinder games. They are very reminiscent of bg2 games. Now i love bg2 but because it has special meaning for me (nostalgia, played it as a teenage boy).
Looking at bg2 objectively, high level high fantasy is ridiculous, morality is not handled with finesse, character motivation is all over the place... a lot to be desired. Not sure how i would react if I played it today for the first time. In that sense dragon age really is an upgrade, even if it took a while to reach a good level of world building.
And now there is this game, pathfinder, that is actually a successor to bg games, in more ways than one. With all the good and bad things that entails.
I find its more difficult to get into new games that have this level of ridiculous fantasy now, because im a different person than who i was when i played bg games. The writing seems to rely on tropes and exaggerated ideas of alignment a lot, which could escalate to ridiculous levels in high level play/campaign. Bg2 had this problem as well, while bg1 and kingmaker managed to have it somewhat toned down. And wotr seems to really be closer to bg2 from what i see.
I'm willing to give some benefit of doubt and suspend my disbelief, supposing owlcat will manage to insert some finesse into their writing. But im seeing a lot of reliance on tropes, and paired with over the top campaign and pathfinder lore, im not convinced they can execute them well enough for them to function without any creative twist.
Writing this shows im engaged and hopeful for what this game can be i guess, a real crpg that can spark a sense of wonder and immersion. Just hoping it wont dive into a caricature too much.

mrslothy I'm not a mod anymore. So to change the topic title you'd have to pm Gimolas or the person who created the thread. Sorry, I couldn't with that! I'm still waiting to see if this game is actually good and not terrible to the gay players (like the previous game) and a console release date before I get invested. lol!

men as I cant continue my BG3 run cause a bug so I'm reading again things about this game out of "rpg boredom" and I'm so scared haha like timed quests scare the hell out of me, I read that you need to do main quests first and then sidequests, thing is, will you miss sidequests doing this? also about the secret ending that some call the true ending (haha nop fuck you), the game when you gotta romance the main antagonist nymph if you want to redeem her giving her an item where her soul is, you cannot do that if you are gay, and if you spare her and ally with her to fight the last big bad she haunts your dreams so the only solution is killing her without to mention that Octavia needs to die if you want to romance Regongar as gay man

Honestly Kingmaker is probably the worst of their games. I didn't have too many issues with the timer but it was constantly in the back of my mind every time I played. I still managed to do all the main and side content but it was there haunting me. The secret ending is shit and not that great, just even more waifu bait honestly. I didn't like the dumb stuff you have to do for it in this game or in WotR for the secret endings (pff true endings, boring) so I never bothered. I am glad that Rogue Trader's secret ending is much easier to get and isn't waifu/mommy bait. Instead it gets me a wholesome son who keeps me and everything I built up safe. That part is rough and when you play it in game the scene is as stupid as you would imagine and just made me roll my eyes so much. I think they only added it to try and make you feel guilty and well, all the Octavia stands didn't give a shit about Regongar so they obviously didn't give a fuck when he dies. That said the scene was so stupid and forced I didn't give a shit when Octavia died when I romanced Regongar. They take one step forward and three steps back with romances in their games so maybe in the next one we'll get more than one evil murder hobo choice. Though after RT I certainly won't be buying until I know what romance choices are. I already got burnt once and have to mod the game to be able to romance the companion who ended up being my favourite romance across all three games.
