I voted for Jaal. I never thought I'd betray Kaidan like this, but sorry boo-your content is just not up to Jaal's level. OMG, Jaal is everything I ever wanted in a romance. He's emotionally available-tells me he loves me, dedicated to me on a long term bases. He's all that and a bag of chips! I don't see myself ever playing any of the other romances in Andromeda at this point. I'm glad I saw 2 others already at least. I'll probably watch the rest on youtube. That's why it allows for you to vote for 2. I figured someone from OT and someone from MEA. |

Vetra and Sara & Kaiden and Mshep for me.
Vetra is hands down one of my favs romances and characters of bioware of all time (AND MY CANON IN MEA)
Kaiden romance is just so sweet also that scene at the end. Just yes.
I like both Cortez and Jaal romance, but Cortez is a bit too short and Jaal is well.. Jaal I still don't really like his character too much, his romance is great through.

Sure there were issues there (Bioware getting in the way of Bioware doing something right) but still, loved his character (and looks... I'm shallow yes  ). Jaal... Kaidan and John's romance is my favorite love story of all time, so of course I voted for them. Yes, it just seems so right, especially if you wait until ME3. In that instance, it was something the evolved through time and trials. If they could get through pointing guns at each other they can get through anything. Beyond that, just the way Kaidan speaks. He wears his heart on his sleeve and there's no doubt how he feels. Even the look in his eyes at Normandy evac - he knows they'll never see each other again and there's so much sadness. There's a reason mShenko fanfic continues to be written today and is among the most written about ME romances ever (most pop is FemShep/Garrus and second is FemShep/Kaidan). |

I've only ever played ME:A and female Ryder, so that narrows it down considerably. (If I ever gave male Ryder a try, it would totally be Jaal.) Ryder/Suvi is my vote, since even though the romance is sparse, they're so cute together.  |

If Reyes had more content, maybe I'd enjoy him more. As I typically do all of Kadara at once, it feels more like a fling to me. Maybe if I spaced out the Kadara and Reyes stuff over the last two missions and Eladdan, it wouldn't feel so quick. The content just isn't up there to par, unlike Jaal, who I have with me pretty much from the beginning with lots of dialogue. I'm happy anyone can enjoy Gil and/or Reyes though. True troopers! |

Well, I'm not actually playing right now due to poor and/or short content. It's a dealbreaker for me in a BioWare game. So I'm spending my time romancing Kaidan.

My favorite mlm romance in Mass Effect is Jaal. My favorite wlw romance is Liara. Both characters are story relevant (especially Liara) and have emotional moments in their romance. I'm really happy that we have Jaal now, because usually, the mlm fans don't get emotional romance options. This was always something I missed very much. But it still hurts that we only got him out of protest and that Bioware originally was "happy with the specifics" and only wanted to give us Gil (which is again no emotional romance option). Sometimes I've got the impression that the MEA team didn't know how homosexual and bisexual men feel and therefore escaped in writing a humorous character because humor is an easy way to make a someone likeable. But maybe it's just me. Okay dear Gilmancer, please don't be angry with me. I think it's absolutely fine, if you like Gil and I'm glad he has a fanbase. I'd just like to explain why I couldn't bring myself to like him. It's not meant as shitting on him. I just have some serious problems with the way that character was treated. Some has to do with Jill, others do not. However, it's just my personal and subjective impression. No offense is intended. That' why I write it in spoiler tag. One reason I don't like him is because I find it difficult to like a character that has so little content and a character editor face. But it's more than that. The conversations with him are all right until you get to the poker scene. After that, I just thought that something was wrong with that guy. Of course there are probably gay men who are desperate or feel guilty due to their sexuality and therefore would accept Jill's offer. Which is understandable. But I didn't notice that conflict in Gil. I also didn't realize that he wanted children before. It almost came out of nowhere, like a rash imprudent action. It just feels wrong in so many ways. Maybe, I could have understood his decision if Bioware had justified his actions with a good explanation, but they didn't. And this inattentiveness didn't just kill the romance for me but the whole guy beyond it. But even without the whole Jill mess, I had problems to like flirting with him because I missed the emotional development in the character. The flirts were purely sexual, which is not bad per se. But I didn't notice any emotional development. It remained superficial. I remember my first kiss with him before we met Jill. It felt hollow. As if we were suddenly together in a relationship, although we've never shared an emotional moment with each other before. That felt so wrong that I immediately withdrew from him. If they had at least given him some depth later.... But it remained superficial. The sex scene is not even as bad as I thought. Less because of the sex (which is just a fade to black scene), but because he briefly showed emotions. That was still not enough development, however.
It's a pity. They could have done so many interesting things with the character, because Gil has potential....He has some interesting personality traits (for example that he doesn't want to let anybody get close to him or his problems to be serious and to show emotions). But they failed to take this opportunity.

I haven't finished the Jaal romance (ALMOST!) because MEA is suuuuch a sloooog, so until then I voted for m!Shenko and m!Reyder. Reyes is just like...  he's so smooth but he's not, and he's a liar and a lowlife but he's actually not... I just love his character. And the rooftop kiss is... le sigh. Sweetness and light. Granted after finishing Jaalmance I'll have only played 3 ME universe romances  |
