So I started DAI over the weekend, but I wasn't really getting invested, so I decided to play through the other warden origin stories in DAO. I played the Mage one the very first time I picked up the game, but every time since then I've gone Human Noble. Today I did the Dwarf Noble, City Elf, and redid the Mage. Honestly, I was really impressed and sort of disappointed in myself for not doing this earlier. I know I'm never going to be someone who does multiple complete play throughs with non-humans, but I thought the origins do a much better job of introducing the player to the different aspects of Thedas than what you get in the base game when you reach those places for the first time. It's sort of shame that they made all of it optional and locked off to separate plays. I don't think anyone will ever replace Cousland in my heart, but (with the bi mod) I was so into the mini-romance my male Aeducan had with Gorim and I was really invested in who my Tabris was as a person. I think I might actually continue with her, rather than make a female Cousland, whenever I decide to do a Morrigan romance at some point. (Probably will be after I finally do the Alistair romance with a male Amell, though.) I'm going to do the Dalish Elf and Dwarf Commoner tomorrow, but I already feel like I have a much better understanding of why some people are such elf/dwarf enthusiasts. it definitely feels distinctly different whereas it's mostly cosmetic in DAI. Did the Dalish and Casteless. Maybe it's just that I've always had a serious dislike for them, but I thought the Dalish one kind on of bad compared to the others. Also I know minor characters who get expanded roles later are usually very different, but Merrill is by far the most disconcerting and I've never seen anyone mention it.

disgustednoise If you're on PC, there is some unofficial patches for Awakening that I would highly recommend. They help fix some bugs that can make certain objectives impossible to fully pull off. One of them will even completely bug your game out to the point where you have to load an earlier save. Something to bear in mind. --General observation: I think I'm one of the few people that has made characters that side with the Templars without conscripting them. I don't use meta-gaming when I'm making those decisions, or at least I try not to. For Kaliya, it was never about her feelings about mage freedom. She doesn't hate mages, and while she's leery of magic, she has nothing against it. She also doesn't think the Chantry is in the right, despite her faith. She simply thought that Fiona was a fool, that a magister's involvement was uber bad news, and the last thing they needed is to add to magic that no one apparently understood fully. It doesn't help that this was suppose to be Ms. "Fuck the Divine" Fiona and I felt the whole thing was kinda OOC for her. My next character is going to be mage sympathetic. I have also never forced the mages in, but rather came in as allies. One of the few constants between my characters is that whichever faction I pick always comes in intact. I'm personally a big believer in redemption, especially when it's a group that overall cannot be blamed for the decisions made by their superiors. That's just me though and the majority of my opinions due change depending upon my mood/class/race and at times, specialization. I have played one IQ based directly on my personality. My beloved and badass Cadash, who was my first IQ. --Only got as far as the end of the Servants Quarters segment before I had to stop playing. I managed to make it through and get all of the Halla statues so far, but one of them almost made me throw the controller. Then my huge pup started zooming around the house, so that was the end of that for the day.

General observation: I think I'm one of the few people that has made characters that side with the Templars without conscripting them. I'll eventually do it, for science, but I probably won't enjoy it very much. I can't imagine Hawke not going "let's kill the templars and feed them to the poor. Two birds with one stone!" Inquisition tried to balance it out, but you can't unsay, for example, that mages were being made tranquil so that templars could rape them easier. So I hope DA4 won't side-step my canon and reinstate the templars, like they did with the circles. I have way too many feelings about a fictional conflict.

Not I'm the only who set the world for Hawke and Anders...? (I want to see the Champion of the Just – but it will be hard. And such an ironic title, a bunch of "champion of the just" follows a demon...) Of course, we will get a "neutral" world, with Circles, and with free mages too, to make everyone happy (but nobody will be happy...). Vivienne already started it – no matters Leliana's the Divine, and neither Cassandra, not Vivienne didn't succeed to shepherd every mages into the Circle, the College of Enchanters still works.

I finally finished Inquisition's main quest after about 90 hours. I love Inquisition, I really do...but I can't deny that it's a pretty flawed game with plenty of things that annoy me...and those things really outshine the good things.
I was able to complete everything on every map possible...all the shards, dragons, astrariums...it's all so draining even though at times it can be fun....just not in the excess amount that Inquistion has. I surprisingly didn't have all that much trouble with the astrariums...I guess I've finally burned the solutions into the back of my mind with how often I've done them. The only shards that I can remember being extremely annoying were in The Exalted Plains (all of them, ugh...), some in The Hinterlands, and some in the Forbidden Oasis....hmm...and I guess a bit in the Hissing Wastes... I never want to do these quests ever again because they are so pointless and don't lead to anything anyway...but I know the completionist in me will go through it all again the next time I play...
Dragons are a bit more fun...this is like the only time I have to actually manage my party... The Gamordan Stormrider is just a big bully...he kicked Vivienne! The fight with the Highland Ravager was intense...I was a level or two under it and I wasn't sure I would make it! By pure luck I was able to survive with Vivienne and my warrior Inquisitor. We had no potions, Blackwall was always super squishy and dying, and Sera was always targeted by Dragonlings and killed. Somehow Vivienne was able to keep the barriers up on herself and my Inquisitor, while he kept his guard up almost the entire time! I'm not sure how...but it just worked! Luckily the Ravager wasn't able to summon anymore dragonlings because I killed them all and just kept attacking until she went down as Vivienne manged barriers.
The fight with Corypheus was really annoying and poorly designed. He stayed up on some pillars the entire time so my two warriors could do nothing but stand there while Vivienne and Sera did little damage to him...ugh... Then having to fight another dragon with regenerating guard and no potions... Again I wasn't sure I would survive but I did... Yeah...recommended for "levels 16 to 19"... as if...I hate the level scaling in this game. It's very, very annoying.
But in the end...it's all very satisfying completing Renly's story. I loved seeing those final romance scenes with Cullen, so very sweet. I love seeing all the companions there at the end after the fight and then just celebrating while the tavern music plays in the background. It was a long two months getting through this game and I wish the main story didn't suffer and feel disjointed because of the open world...but that's what BioWare gave us.
I'm really excited about finally getting to the DLC which, aside from the modded Cullen romance, I feel is one of the more enjoyable things of the game.

Andrew MancerI don't know if you played the Legacy DLC from DA2, but that was a proper boss fight. I loved that fight, as hard as it was. And the guy had been awake about 5-10 minutes before unleashing elemental hell. I call the final fight in the basic version of DA:I "Doctor Cory Evil and his Fricking Laser Beams." True story: So I played two days after launch. I was playing my beloved Cadash archer. I had designed a really kick ass bow, one that's so good that I still use the build today. Let me put it this way: I had over 100% crit damage. No mods, no cheats. Anyway, I get to Cory and start shooting away. I damaged him so quick that it skipped the flags for the next two cutscenes. I sat there looking at my screen for about 90 seconds, wondering if the program was hanging. The next thing I knew was that my party had teleported to the top of the Temple and no matter how hard to I tried, I couldn't take out the last sliver of Cory's health. I had to restart the fight and use only basic attacks on him. Good thing the DLCs all make up for it with awesome final bosses. Still, such a shame that Cory was so lame. (Hey, that rhymed!)

I didn't do anything this weekend other than chores. My husband's been sick so I was taking care of him. This will be in multiple parts, since I'll be likely stopping and starting some DA time throughout the day. First, I'll start with stuff from very early this morning: --Finished off the dragons in Crestwood and in the Exalted Plains. The only resistance I was worried about was for the one in the Plains. That lightning can hurt, particularly if your melee dps has only 14% resist. <cough> --Jumping back in the Western Approach. I personally really like this zone, since it has a good story and a good quest flow. Hawke's story aside, I like the way the zone is laid out overall. It's fairly dynamic, since you need to access the War Table to get to new areas. --I finished the draconalogy questline as well. I keep wondering what is up with that professor. The game never did answer why the Vents, the Wardens and the bandits left him alone throughout all of this. I got very lucky and it took less than 20 minutes for the materials for the lure to drop. I have spent up over an hour trying to get quillback intestines, so that was a relief. --I didn't take Iron Bull with me for this kill and I'm a little bummed I didn't. He really has the best reaction to the Abyssal High Dragon. Oh well, next time. For later: --I'll be finishing the northern end of the zone before doing the main story mission out there. After that, it's off to Emprise du Lion with Varric in tow. I find him very useful out there and it's a quick n' easy way to get the rest of the lyrium knocked out for his personal quest. He also gives small approval bumps for killing Red Templars, so that should be good. --One more dragon and I'll be able to make my second new weapon. My MH is called "Nothing Personal." The dagger that will be made from dragon bone is going to be called, "Just Business." --Cole can start up his personal quest any day now. I'm sitting on skill points for the kid until his quest pops. He's going to become more human, something else that Solas loves oh-so-much. Bonus! I wanted to share my recipe for an insanely powerful bow for the late game. Again, you don't need any DLC or even the Black Emporium to make this. The Great Bow of the House Cadash

<Later That Day> Well, today sure was..something. I got into that enough into the other thread. But, this is for DA and I got some of that done. I'm going to bed once my pillows are out of the dryer. --Knocked out Emprise du Lion faster than I ever have, somehow. I took Varric/Cass/Dorian with me for most of it, except for the dragon kills. Thanks to some leather farming beforehand, I had plenty of mats to make some high cold resist gear and some decent fire gear as well. I was able to take out all three dragons without going to grind. It was quite sweet. As always, I took Dorian/Cass/Solas for the dragon kills. **Tip: When you approach the dragon that is at the very NE part of the zone, by the waypoint, scan your little butt off. The dawnstone is pretty good, but more importantly, there are silverite nodes everywhere. These are worth farming, since the Fade Touched version either gives chain lighting at 75% weapon damage (great for tanks) or +5 Guard on Hit. This is what makes those so worth farming. Put that on a mage and staff with a Fade Touched giving Walking Fortress and they are damned near impervious to damage. Add a fully powered barrier and it's silly. As long as you watch your step at the end of Descent (I hate that boss) and have good resistance to lightning for the final boss of Trespasser, you're golden. I generally try to get 2-3, enough for me (unless I'm a tank)and at least one mage.** --Finally got around to Adamant Fortress. I brought Varric (won't let Hawke out of his sight, Fade or no Fade;) Blackwall (duh) and Dorian. I didn't feel like dealing with Solas' glares and sighs when I sided with the Wardens. --Made sure to get the full conversation tree with the "Divine." It's probably one of my favorite conversations in the game. --Left Loghain behind. One of these days I need to have an asshole Hawke vs Alistair. I played one Hawke that fell just short of agreeing with the Tranquil Solution and siding with Patrice. Maybe I should have Angelica make a return. --I finished Vivienne's personal quest. I'm not a huge fan of hers and Trespasser certainly did not help. However, I really feel for her in that moment, so I could never trick her. --Then I went and talked to everyone in Skyhold, save Blackwall. I've noticed if I have too many cutscenes in a row at Skyhold, then leave and come back, the game crashes. So I made sure to sooth Solas' ruffled feathers. I have Leliana out grabbing Cole's necklace right now. Poor thing has 5 skill points to spend. --After some thought, Leliana is going to be Divine. For one, her beliefs about the Chantry and all of that align with my current rogue perfectly. Second, I love resoftening her. Finally, she's already the mistress to the Prince Consort of Ferelden. So why not add to the scandal? Plus, she complemented me on becoming an assassin. --Bianca finally showed up. I've gotten to the point where I can't take her seriously. It isn't due to the actual character either. See, Laura Bailey is (among many things) the voice "Female 1" for Saints Row 3 and 4. Somehow, it's harder to take her seriously when I picture her lines from that game. Let me put it this way: The "Boss" is nuts and one of their weapons of choice is a purple dildo bat. I can't unsee Bianca wielding it. --I've been sitting on several judgements for awhile now. The reason is for, well, butt kissing. I knew Solas in particular was going to be salty about keeping the Wardens and making Cole more human. So I'm doing both first, then doing the Judgements. Between the mayor (community work,) the Dutchess (same) and Erimond (so damn dead,) Solas will be loving my character again in no time. --And last, but not least, I have my weapons I'm wielding til near the end of JoH. The stats are mostly the same, including schematic: Nothing Personal (Coiled dagger schematic) 511 DPS (Dragon Bone plus rune) 57% Crit 10% Chance to Apply Walking Bomb at 50% Superb Demon Slaying Rune. Just Business483 DPS 57% Crit 10% to apply Hidden Blades on Hit +5 hits Master Corruption Rune And with that, I'm off to get my exhausted butt to bed. I normally correct most of my typos, but right now I'm beat and I don't really care. It's been a very very long day and I know I'm in for a long one tomorrow. Night all. <hugs>

I'm crying. I love this game so much. I finally finished Inquisition after two months. I finally just went through all the DLC the last few days. First off was Jaws Of Hakkon. I always say that if the entire game had been more like Jaws Of Hakkon it would have been so much more enjoyable. This DLC just works so well because of how much better the design/structure of the map is than most of the main game. You never have to go out of your way to get through a quest because they are all places you are going to visit through the natural flow of the story with camps nearby. It's still "big and open" while actually being much more linear. I also just really love the Avvar and getting to work with them and learn about their culture. Thankfully the DLC implements interactions with NPCs that was sorely lacking in the main game and it's a nice touch incorporating Harding and Kenric as well. It's just so much more fun and enjoyable going through this DLC than it is going through most of the main game's maps. I also appreciate that Descent is a much more linear experience as well without the need for large, open areas. Again I think they managed to incorporate the story elements/character interactions quite well instead of just having you go through hours upon hours in large, empty areas with no story like the main game. I do wish Renn hadn't been killed though as he was quite an interesting character. Finally there was Trespasser...it was such an emotional experience....so much more than I remembered. It was nice catching up with all the returning companions and the advisors. I love the way the Cullen romance was implemented here as well, it was very sweet and surprisingly mostly voiced for a male Inquisitor as well! One of the moments that hit me the most and nearly had me in tears was where Josephine raises her voice in concern and the Inquisitor says he doesn't want to die...and then Cullen goes to hug him. My poor heart couldn't handle how that whole scene played out. It does make me a bit sad now that we likely won't see the Inquisitor and the companions/advisors again. I really loved that group shot at the end where they all got together. It was also a nice touch seeing Varric giving Cassandra the book...but I also loved when it was just my Inquisitor Renly together with Cullen. I really love his romance and seeing it through to the end cements his spot as one of my favorite characters in the franchise. This game I never talked with Bull, Varric, Dorian and Cole...so Cole just disappeared and Varric and Dorian both ignored me...even though people still insist on saying Varric is the Inquisitor's "friend" and Dorian himself called the Inquisitor his "friend". Iron Bull betrayed the group and had to be killed... Next time I think I just won't recruit Dorian and Iron Bull...still not sure what to do with Cole. I'm always sad at the end of a game like this where I go through so much with the characters... I have my problems with Inquisition and there are so many things that annoy me about it...but the main story, the characters, and the DLC are just so good. I love my Inquisitor and his romance with Cullen as well, one of the biggest highlights of the game for me. I had fun developing him further this time around and seeing how he changed over time from being a loner in the beginning to finding true love and a trusted group of friends that become like family in the end.
natashina You are a life saver. I took your advice and the game became so much easier because of it. I was essentially invincible with all my characters having their guard up all the time. Battles became a breeze.

I had a little time to play finally, so: Karl TrevelyanWicked Eyes and Wicked Hallashit
The public truce still did not succeed – I don’t have the patience for this quest. (Probably my least favourite part of the game! It's a block – some of my characters stuck here because I was not patient enough!) So: some pictures and the decision: Karl does not give a shit to the Game, and since the first minute he meets with them, he hated Celene and Gaspard to. Karl thought they deserve each other – but hated the whole shit he gets involved (started to see, it's not a big loss that not he's the heir of the Trevelians...), so, he just wanted to survive the night without die from the boredom. During the time, some of the filthy things revealed: so, he was just disgusted with everything – and even doesn't care about Empire – so he thought, if it possible, he rather gives Orlais to the elves – in the Circle, he knew some nice elves... Now seriously: he trusted Leliana, who suggested, Briala is a good solution. And Leliana knew Orlais. So: if they can't rule together – then Briala will. Briala seemed grateful, and Karl was satisfied, that the night is over. Superman Briala's grateful In the Skyhold a revered mother waited for him – she said she needs Leliana and Cassandra, because they're candidates of the Divine election. Karl was Andrastian – just as most of his family and the Circle... but he didn't believe in the Chantry – why would? The Chantry didn't give him anything just shame and contempt – deprived him of his family and heritage (even if in the light of the Orlesian ball seemed not a big problem...). So: he was not really impressed, he must to deal with the Chantry's problems. Anyway, he spoke with Cassandra and Leliana... He was tired from it... but inside the Skyhold Josephine waited for him. He must judge... a box, filled with Florianne's dismembered corpse. So: let it be! He decided, the Florianne's mortal remains should serve the greater good!

Reinhardt Hawke ( story) / Karl Trevelyan, Western Approach, the Warden Fortress Blood magic here! Mad Magister (and blood magic, ofc) Hands up! (More blood magic, mind controll and demons) Opinions: Varric (about the Blight's a tool), Blackwall (about the Grey Wardens act from their own will) and Solas (about killing the Old Gods) You're mad. but I'll kill you ... or worse. Just watch.Hawke and Loghain (Reinhardt so deep...) (...and wears fucking shield... SHIELD! Why? – like Karl wonders as well, the Tale of Champion spoke about a bloody berserker, who used a huge sword – it just you, Varric?) video

I started another play through of Inquisition today: Luna Atish’an Lavellan.
I wanted to play a dwarf and romance Sera honestly, but the dwarf wasn’t working out for me in character creation and I got super frustrated hahaha.
She uses the Sumalee Montano voice and I love it.
She has a rather abrasive personality. She can be sarcastic and honestly has not had the best experience with anyone outside of elves. She isn’t by any means a terrible person , she agreed to help the inquisition of her own volition because she knew it was the right thing but her personality will likely cause her to bump heads with the companions (I expect a war to happen when she meets Vivienne).

Just reached Redcliffe in DA:O , this game is quite wonderful. Glad Im finally playing it. Seeing characters like Leliana and Morrigan younger and learning has been interesting. And Alistair is charming and cute and... ahem... I also love my dog but I refuse to take him to battle now, I don’t want to see that dog get harmed

Heya! I ended up deleting my DW rogue. The reason is because I ended up with Vivienne as Divine. Despite supporting Leliana 100% outside of recruiting the Templars, I was frankly a little horrified as the game told me that Vivienne was crowned Divine. This apparently can happen more frequently if you a) recruit the Templars b) Keep them intact and c) Not support Cass as Divine. Since I've got the mindset of "anyone but her," I said to hell with it. I know I could have changed it in the Keep, but my heart was no longer in it tbh. My heart has been into my current character. She's a human mage and I surprised myself at how much I love playing this character. She "clicks" with me more for whatever reason. I'm almost done with JoH and about to start Descent before hitting up the Well. So here's the highlights: - Rolled up a human ex-Circle mage for the first time.
- Her and Vivi did not get along great until literally 60 hours into the game.
- Romanced Cullen.
- Used my personal golden state. King and Queen Wardens; pro-Mage in DA2, ect ect.
- I've kept my party as Solas/Cass/Varric the whole time because why not.
- Sided with the mages, naturally.
- Made Cole more Human.
- Got maxed affection with Solas and Varric within 5 hours of reaching Skyhold.
- Kept the Wardens and successfully completed the War Table missions. My character studies history and she's not going to exile the Wardens.
- Saved the Chargers because screw the Qun.
- After very careful consideration, I am making Cass Divine. I'll explain later if anyone wishes, since I know Leliana is the more popular "Pro-mage/Anti-Circle" Divine.
- Managed to complete everyone's loyalty mission. Vivi's took the longest to spawn.
- She is not going to drink from the Well.
- Made Blackwall a Warden..and got an approval bump from Solas out of all people.
- Shaved literally 20 hours off of my playtime by ignoring every single shard and not stressing getting all bottles/mosaic pieces. I have one save file where I got all of that plus every single landmark. This also included every little nook and cranny of both JoH and (goddess help me) Descent. Time on that one? 108 hours.
Name: Rya Raines Age: 34 Hair: Honey Blonde Hair Style: Bun or hacked with a knife with spiky bangs on the forehead. Eyes: Very pale lavender with a pale blue center. Colors: White/Gold or White/Pink Specialization: Rift/Lightning. And it is brutal.Current Armor: Templar's Rose (269 armor, high cold and lightning resist, +5 Guard on hit.) I picked the name because I imagined it as a gift from Cullen. I can make it really pretty and girly...but more importantly, it'll keep my character safe. Current Weapon: The Song of Love's Flame. Based up on the "Encore" schematic. 209 DPS (Dragon Bone + Superb Cleansing Rune) 113% Crit damage (base staff + grip and blade) Hidden Blades +5 blades on hit Song Offensive Buff. That is more OP than I thought it would be. Purple bling: Ring of Life-Drain, Ring of Crit Dmg, Amulet of Renewal, Belt of Superior Focus/Belt of the Elements. Edit: Andrew Mancer I got another great tip from BansheeOwnage as well. For a future playthrough, use the heal on kill/heal over time mats on your gear. Also, apparently two types of the same buff can stack, sort of. As an example, if you have two items that have +5 guard on hit, it won't stack. However, if you have +3 guard on it with your weapon and +5 guard on the armor, they'll will stack. So that's a way to get +8 guard on hit if you so choose. If you roll with a DW rogue someday, you can have the means to have a total of +8 guard on hit, up to 50% heal on kill, heal over time, and a chance for Walking Fortress to proc. Pair that with the Amulet of Life Siphon that you can get from Emprise du Lion and kiss the game difficulty good-bye. Except for the boss of Descent. All those defensive buffs won't save you if you get hit by that damn rock flail more than once.

Well, another run in the bag. I'm letting the credits roll and then I'm starting Trespasser.
Something I noticed in the endings regardless of who you chose as Divine. A common (and understandable) complaint is that the Circles of Magi reform no matter what. In fact, that is one of my reasons for making Cass Divine in most of my playthroughs. I'd rather have the Divine reform the Circles and keep an eye on them rather than letting Vivienne do it. It also feels like the most natural character arc for her, but that's just my opinion.
On the other hand, the College of Enchanters also reforms and becomes a much larger presence than it had been. The devs are obviously setting up for some sort of mage civil war. I doubt we'll see it in the games, since I think we (as players) are done with southern Thedas for a long time, if not for good. This would make for an interesting set up for the inevitable book that is a bridge between Trespasser and DA4.
Finally, I had a shower thought about Leliana after this run. Bare with me here. Okay, so the Veil in a lot of south western Thedas is very thin. Spirits and such do abound in Ferelden. Spirits will also reveal themselves to non-mages (see Kendrick's comment in JoH about scholars talking to spirits.) What if Leliana, at some point after arriving in Lothering, got touched by a Spirit of Faith? I'm talking right after she flees Denerium and takes refuge in the Chantry. Praying to the Maker, crying inside for comfort and faith in anything in the world. It would explain her utter sense of devotion and love. It also would explain why she's extremely passionate in her beliefs.
