One thing I have noticed about this game is it sure does love to eat my CPU. I'm half wondering if my crashes are related to that. It's definitely annoying, but I have the same issue with Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous. Both games make my fans extremely loud, though with Wrath it's generally just suckier optimization.

So I was reading info online last night and found out that Legendary Sonic shock fixes the issue with the "location" hack the enemies were using on me. That's still a pretty late-in-the-game solution, but I guess next time around I'll just have to put off any stealth missions till I have legendary hacks. sigh...

My fans run loud on a lot of games, even with my liquid cooling set up. Usually just means they are doing the job you paid for them to do. The fairly recent update of task manager will show critical temp but only on your GPU. I think I had to go out of my way to update that. But yeah crashing from hardware limitations or just… CP2077 messes would be hard to tell. I’ll monitor my computer’s performance tonight and see what I can guess.

So, from my playing around, CPU is higher on this game than GPU. It’s like the inverse of my modded Skyrim issues. My GPU is being under utilized (even on ultra everything, and I only have a GTX 10XX tier). My CPU is being used quite a lot, going up pretty high while driving and during combat. Not enough for me that I’d worry about a CTD but I can see it might cause more frequent issues in other set ups. It could also be that if it was taxing my CPU too much it might cause temp issues in a GPU as maybe then the GPU would go up in use. Maybe in longer sessions too.
I’m always nervous when I hear my fans, which I was, but my GPU stayed in a healthy temp. But I can imagine CPU was hotter.

I think it's only my new fan that's loud because it isn't on any sort of set up (and I'm reluctant to go messing around in Bios) my GPU is usually pretty low usage even when it's hitting higher temps, my CPU though is constantly around 80%+ usage in this game. I don't have any fps issues, it just runs loud and hot and other than Wrath, is the only game I really have issues with so far. I've turned a few settings lower though I don't think it will have much issues.
In less tech related stuff, what radio channel (if any) do you guys listen to? I originally played Vexelstrom because it felt like it 'fit' my V more than any other, but I'm liking the songs enough that I even listen to them outside of the game. Sometimes it's nice to just put on the radio and travel across the Badlands, though it always amuses me to have my music blasting as I rock up to some crime in progress mission and no one is alerted by it. XD

Cyberpunk 2077 seems to be rather well optimized on xbox series S as far as it hasn't caused it to chug or the fan to go wild. However, playing Fallout 4 with 60 fps boost did cause it to do a bit of that. (seriously made the game crash more too it seemed, but I didn't test it for long cause yeah...not worth it for me!) Progress in this run has gone well. I've done with Panam's quest line (and thus her part of the main quest too). I finished Judy's line (but not all the quests that she was semi linked to namely the voodoo boys and alt). I haven't done any of the Takamura quests (other than meeting him that first time at the diner). I have already romanced River-cause I didn't want to wait any longer. Tomorrow I will continue to do gigs till I get bored and then I'll go on with the main quest, I suppose. I'm at lvl 31 so lots more grinding to do if I want to get to 50-but IDK if it's worth it since only the secret ending really requires that. (not a requirement-but damn does it help!)

My CPU range was 50% to a rare 60%, 55% in dense AI situations. CPU does seem possible culprit. I do have a friend who streams and she had some luck putting an external fan blowing into her PC and significantly stopped crashing she was having (cause streaming and playing is taxing). No wonder even people with fancy graphics cards were having issues though, CPU is a much narrower bottle neck.
Also Bethesda games are notoriously more unstable the faster you run FPS. I believe technically they optimize their games for a max FPS of 58 ish. They link their physics systems in their engine to FPS, so the faster you get your FPS you usually get weirder bethesda bugs like floating objects, NPCs, but even things like attack speed will get wonky and scripts can actually have “race conditions” because they aren’t meant to run fast. and then if you unlock (above 60) with out changes to the engine, you’ll basically watch Skyrim or the commonwealth briefly launch everything into space and then CTD.
I ‘m like actually frustrated I haven’t found a decent shotgun. I’m like in the rogue/Panam stuff and still using a pistol.

My CPU is usually always at 80%+ and I've caught it hitting 100% a few times. Meanwhile my GPU is hot but practically asleep. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ I'm still on my 'clear the map of gigs before I go see Takemura again' slog. I've only got about two left (though I think I'll unlock more as I do the main story.) I'm also picking up cars as I can afford them as I don't buy anything else in the game so I was sitting at over 400k for ages with nothing to buy but maybe some components. Eventually I want to clear the map of the 'crime in progress' open world stuff but there's so many and it's kinda boring after a while. Maybe I'll go do that when I hit the part where Silverhands wants my body to go do shit in.

I dread the thought of having to do all the open world events again on Playstation eventually (I mean I know I don't have to, but my ocd will probably lead me to that path one day). It truly is one of the better ways to level up I know-aside from exploits.

I didn’t get too far because I’ve been procrastinating making cookies, fudge, and huckleberry liqueur for people.
But I finally found a decent shotgun (a crafting spec lol).
I did the Voodoo Boys quest where you relive Johnny’s memories with his ex gf. It was my first encounter with the first person sex situation. Was very weird and might be the weirdness of that scene but it feels weirdly more objectifying of in this case the female character. That whole quest/story bugged me. The blackwall was cool, but the way the voodoo boy quest was written as kinda weird, Johnny/alt felt like a cliche and bad, and soul killed alt is not that cool for how much is there from the source material. I really enjoyed Jackie and then Judy/Evelyn stuff so it was kinda just disappointing how uninteresting the Panam/Alt arc has been.
I am in the middle of Panam’s first personal quest. I have no idea if I ducked up the part where she puts her legs on you ( I vaguely remember the hetero gamer bros whining about that scene so I am worried ignoring the handsy dialogue actually triggers her romance or something), we’ll see. I don’t know if I’ll romance anyone even, though I do have a River mod and if that doesn’t work the save editor set up to do it on a male identified V.
But I’m just enjoying driving around in a cyberpunk setting and finally shooting things with my shotgun cause I am a simple person lol.

Ohh that sounds delicious. Glad you finally found a good shotgun even if it's through crafting. Crafting is the way to go in this game if you want decent stuff, the revolver I crafted had waaay better damage than anything I'd found/upgraded by that point. The whole thing was really awkward. Even modded it still felt uncomfortable to watch and I agree on the objectifying part with Alt. It just felt like she was there for him to screw and yell at, then die and be a bitch. It's a shame, I also liked the Jackie, and Judy/Evelyn stuff. I enjoyed the brief time I got to work for the Voodoo Boys and seeing a brief insight into them both inside and outside of working with them but sadly it's just very short and if you side with them/walk away at the end there's just... nothing from them but a text threat from Placide later. It's kinda lame how little they did with the gangs and us interacting with them that wasn't just shooting them. As far as I could tell when I played, you have multiple opportunities to not flirt with Panam or try and make it obvious you're not interested with her and she ignores the entire thing right up until she tries to fuck you in the Panzer. I think you can maybe fuck things up with her if you told Saul about her plans or are otherwise kinda bitchy to her (maybe?) but I think I fucked up/got lucky in doing everything perfectly that she still wanted to screw me despite at least three attempts of showing no interest. Also annoyingly could never bring up the fact I was already with someone because these romances have very little meaning and don't lock you out of others. If you have the River romance mod (the one you drop in and not the save edit one) then don't use it until after finishing the Randy storyline because otherwise it kinda bugs and he won't call you for the dinner date. As long as you have it slotted in before you go meet him at the tower it will work. (I removed the mod so I could get his call, saved, quit, put the mod back in and then went and did the romance with no problem.) Right now I'm trying to put off Chippin In' because I'm already uncomfortable with the quest that follows after and Silverhand doing things in my V's body without his consent, especially when it comes to Rogue. I'm also kinda D: at how much of the quests to romance Kerry requires you to let Silverhand take over your body repeatedly.

Yeah I liked learning about the Voodoo Boys but the way it was written, where you know they are pursuing their own interests, the fixer who introduces them to you is an unknown really, and you know they were after the relic. So it’s like how dumb does V have to be to not think they’re really not gonna trust him.
And being kinda forced twice already to play as Johnny, have dialogue options that are abusive emotionally, and even physically, was not fun. Not excited for the stuff with him later either.

Yeah it kinda sucks. I just wish we'd been able to work more with gangs, or even work with some at all. You might get the odd side mission but it feels like the short time we had with the VB is the 'most' we get for working with them.
It only gets worse. I just did a mission as him that was obviously written by straight dude bros who clearly saw no issue in what happens during the quest despite how violating it is for V, and worse you have to do these damn missions for him if you want certain endings. Sucks even more because you're forced to go through all this hetero fuckery if you want to reach the gay romance option.

Yeah-sadly much of Johnny's character is just being a jackass and the worst example of a dudebro-it's no wonder that he was received well by so many CDPR fans. I try to like him just cause I have to put up with him anyway, but he's totally gross in reality-so it's a band-aide effect at the very best.

Yeah I’m trying to ignore how much I don’t like him cause otherwise it’s really not at all fun to have a creepy abuser living in your head and commenting on your actions and only having weird CDPR dialogue to respond with. Like some of the conversations with Johnny are a) you’re right b) v dumb and grumpy c) I don’t wanna talk.
But other than that I am having fun. I finally figured out which quest River was hiding behind lol.

By removing and adding the River mod, it worked perfectly, thank you.
I can’t believe how much happier I am to play now that I am out of the Panam quest arc and Alt intro quest period. Especially Panam. Most boring character in this game thus far.
Takemora, River, Judy, and some other choice side quests (Claire) have all been much better.
I was also impressed Judy pronounced Oregon right, but that may have just been the VA knowing to pronounce it right.

So I finished my anniversary run. I picked the secret ending (mainly cause I grinded till I was level 50 so I figured I might as well!) I died a little over halfway through it, but I quit out and was able to continue with a checkpoint. I had no clue that was an option! Nice! I was glad-it was bs why I died anyway, I was one shot (still have no idea how even). Next time around I had zero problems. I forgot about Smasher having to talk during the final boss fight once you take off so much of their health. But aside from some wasted ammo-it wasn't exactly a big deal. Still annoying as I'm pretty sure I'd have one or at the very least 2 shot them if not for the plot shield.

Finished off all the open world content, map looks much nicer now. XD I also finally dragged myself through the Rogue date and I can only imagine how much more awkward it is if you can't character swap the models, I'm just so over Silverhand trying to fuck people whilst in control of my V's body. Ugh, at least Rogue stops it but it's still super cringe.
I'm currently level 49, just have the Kerry stuff left to do now before I tackle the ending. I may have to go hunt for more exp before that though if I don't hit 50 beforehand.

Finally did all the Kerry quests and romance. I admit I was quick (and wrong) to judge him on appearance alone. There's definitely a loneliness to him that you realize through his missions and whilst he says the whole depressive /suicide attempt was PR fluff I could definitely see some truth to it. It still felt a little fast, though at least you get a kiss before the romance scene, unlike River's whose romance kinda comes out of nowhere. The sex scene is still... awkward. I'd have less issue with it if it wasn't for the slapping. I didn't like that and it's suss that the gay romance is the only one that has slapping. Also it... bugged? for me because Kerry never got fully naked when he was supposed to (I even checked on youtube) so the entire sex scene was my V naked and Kerry wearing his clothes. I'm also both relieved and sad that Silverhand didn't have a comment about me fucking the guy when he complained during the River romance. But... I like him, I wish there was more to it, but... his character wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. Also, I'm still not level 50. I have nothing left but the final main mission. I'm starting to wonder if going non lethal fucked me out of exp because I have cleared every single mission/side gig/open world stuff on the map and I'm still only about 70% of the way to level 50. It does make me want to make a V specifically for him next time (this V just romanced nearly everyone for character swapping purposes) so I might actually end up making a Corpo V for him, and then a Nomad V for River. Shotgun Nomad V, and then either Katana or Mantis Blades Corpo V just to try different things, even though I have had an utter blast on my Netrunner StreetKid V.

I also did the Kerry romance, and I ended up locking that one i when I finished the game. No offense to River, it just matched the tone of the ending I went with and how I stupidly left all the Johnny stuff for last so I felt like I had become completely divorced from my earlier V who was more independent. By the end I was kinda fully drowning in Johnny this, Johnny that.
Not that that is bad, it just kinda feels like there are two games shoved together, and the themes of the beginning, stuff I really liked gets lost in a ditch and the game weirdly becomes one of those movies about old timers getting the crew back together for one last gig. Which is fine, it I think I preferred the tone, themes, ideas, and pacing of the pre- let Johnny take over game.
So my final judgement (I did all the endings save the secret one… I was too low level, I might grind a few levels out and try again but I think I need higher Johnny approval): There’s a lot to love about the game. The aesthetics are great (at times, other times they felt confused), the world works well enough (if you don’t look at it too close), there are some great characters, quests, and enjoyment. As far as representation goes, it was better than a lot of games for sure. The music was (at times) good.
But there was also a lot to not like. Wasted ideas (cyber psychosis, AI, minds living after death, what the hell Alt is, what it really means to live in a dying world run by corpos, rising from rock bottom only to keep losing, what family is, what humans are, etc). The game really needed to follow through on the ideas in the beginning, and not devolve completely into a kinda simple and bad Arasaka end, or the melodramatic, meandering, thematically confused, Johnny centric ends.
And specifically on LGBTQ issues, the game is pretty good. But my big gripe is the game feels unsure in what gender or sexuality would be in the world of cyberpunk. It repeatedly tries to remind you body parts are interchangeable, terms like input replace boyfriend/girlfriend, and while they allow a tiny bit of flexibility in some of the romances, it still feels weirdly binary. There’s also the weirdness of having gossip of a female sex worker criticizing a male-presenting one for not getting what a true woman feels (it was unclear if the “male” character was trans or just doing the cliche “gay men call themselves ladies” or if they were non-binary, but it was bizarre in the universe of the game). Similarly, a certain character has to come out and say they are trans, for really no reason, the flag on her car or literally in your face while riding with her was plenty. I also really don’t get why Kerry’s romance has to involve you smooching on a lady first.
Also like Panam is so god damn boring and tge Nomads having their own end (why? What do they really have on offer?) is such a waste for what feels like gratuitous dude bro-ery.
but I would actually say it was fun and I was super glad to play a cyberpunk genre game. Hopefully they add good content eventually. I actually only crashed 3 times. Once while crafting, twice while driving. There were plenty of weird bugs (mesh issues, dialogue getting stuck, t posing moments in cutscenes) but no where what I heard about a year ago.
