It's a shame the dlc sounds like it only changes that one ending. Hmmm, I'll just have to wait and see how it turns out I guess. It's still at least 6 months or so away and subject to change.

Yup, I'm really curious about it, maybe they focused on that ending because they think a lot of people just ignore side quests and it's the only ending choice you get outside of suicide? But it could also be because in order to trigger the songbird relic you need to be on the operating table just before you go under the knife - even though it also sounds like you could just trigger it whenever you wanted. Again, kinda hard to tell context through just dialogue.
The dlc itself seems kinda boring though it looks like you have between two or three people to side with? At least I found 'epilogue' and then two other epilogues with named characters. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Trailer for the Cyberpunk: Edgerunners show, I had completely forgotten about it

New trailer of next story dlc for cyberpunk: Other important notes: - During the stream, CDPR said "it's a new kind of style of plot" for the team in terms of Phantom Liberty's narrative, and that it will feature a new cast of characters (joining V, of course). As for where it takes place, the team didn't specify, but it did say it will primarily unfold in one district of Night City. - Elsewhere in the stream, CDPR detailed some of the things coming in the 1.6 update including a complete overhaul to Cyberpunk 2077's police system and vehicle-to-vehicle combat mechanics. There will be a new gameplay loop for melee combat and a bunch of new actions in the perk tree as well. Plus, Nibbles the cat will soon be available to add in photo mode. Other aspects of this update include a transmog system, playable arcade cabinets, and a jacket and weapon inspired by Cyberpunk: Edgerunners. Finally, the team said Update 1.6 will be the last major update for old-gen consoles and that moving forward, all updates will be on current-gen consoles and PC. However, the team will continue to monitor old-gen versions of the game and perform maintenance to keep them running smoothly as needed. Wow, they Inquisition'd last gen. I'm not shocked, but it's strange to see it happen yet again. Does this dlc match the leaks? It doesn't sound like what I heard, but I also didn't dig all that deep into the leaks.

I'm kinda pissed about the drop of last gen content. Like... It's not OUR fault that the game was released in a state that 2021 AND 2022 had to be spent basically making the game work instead of putting out DLC. That is WHOLLY on CDPR as a corporate entity. They bungled the release and had to put their time in effort to clean up the mess they'd made (well, more specifically, the developers had to clean up the mess the suits made of things), so it's not the fault of the PS4/XB1 players, but WE'RE the ones getting shafted?
Much as I like the game, I will NOT be buying it again when I finally do upgrade systems JUST for the DLC. So fuck that. I'll just watch YouTube playthroughs of it, rather than playing through it myself. I mean, if they'd patch in bi!River or something, we'll talk, but... My finances are tight enough as it is, I probably won't even be ABLE to upgrade until at least 2024, well after this DLC cycle is done and dusted either way. I see no way that it's worth my energy to care about.
Also, it kinda bugged me that the trailer only used female!V's voice. Like, wouldn't it make just as much sense to include BOTH VAs? Like... I feel awkward bringing this up, considering how dudebro-y so much of video game advertising is, but when you HAVE variable protagonists, I feel like it's important to hype that up in marketing so that people know that there are options. I've seen several people who only get interested in a game when they know it's got a character customizer, and that's NEVER been a feature showcased in marketing to any real degree. But especially with the way this trailer was put together, it would have been easy to have female!V voice one line and male!V voice another, rather than JUST female!V.

Them dropping last gen when it was originally designed for last gen is pretty bullshit of them, especially for the people who stuck through the shit show of the original release and didn't refund because they believed CDPR would keep their word and fix the game/give dlc/etc. So them dropping last gen like a rock is shit, worse, people are celebrating it because 'last gen was holding the game back' which is a shitty attitude and obviously not true considering how bad even next (well, 'current' now) gen/PC was on release. From what I can see it matches the leaked information pretty well with the new character and if it does follow the leaked stuff I'm probably only going to play it with my favourite V because he's the one who best suits how it will play out. I guess we'll see if anything gets changed from the leaked stuff. But it's clear after this they're done with the game and will drop it and idk if I will even touch it after I play the dlc stuff once. The game doesn't have enough story, or any romances that truly interest me and whilst this dlc might change the ending so V can survive, but only possibly through one specific ending choice I just don't know if it'd be worth it. Certainly not enough for me to keep replaying the game, and that's with me having access to mods so I can at least pretend to romance someone I might actually want to.

The 1.6 photo options are pretty cool. I love being able to take pictures with Nibbles anywhere.

But especially with the way this trailer was put together, it would have been easy to have female!V voice one line and male!V voice another, rather than JUST female!V Yeah I think is pretty messed up they excluded old gen on dlc after all the trouble everyone put up with that version of the game. If you do keep the game though, you don't have to buy the ps5 version again, the next gen upgrade is free so at least you don't have to rebuy it but is still a pain that you would have to wait anyway. Yeah I agree, I want to try the customizer myself simply because they are not very good promoting it, not to much mention how confusing the merchandise and art is for male V. We had the one dude look on the box art but then the action figures are all a different dude, so is confusing to me what even is their intended male default, at least the female they always kept a look. I hope the dlc is worth all of this but I have my doubts, though they reiterated this week they are still very committed to cyberpunk. But hey Babylon's fall said that a few months ago and then said today game is closing servers in its anniversary first year month. Everything is always in flux, if the dlc doesn't do well I see them just pausing everything.

Cyberpunk 2077 sequel has been announced as well as a lot of Witcher projects:

Considering how poorly they handled the release of this game...I can't see them handling multiple projects very well if they're aiming for the same large scale open world games going forward. This wasn't really my type of game anyway and I'll probably never touch it but for those of you that did enjoy it and are looking forward to the sequel I hope it turns out to be a good one with a better release than this one had!

The part of me that genuinely enjoyed 2077 and liked the setting and everything, wants to revisit it, is interested.
The part of me that genuinely hated the enforced heteronormativity of the game, how BLATANT it was in assuming a straight male V as the protagonist (saying nothing of other failures to differentiate V's life style and play path), isn't exactly enthused at the concept of "take two."
Eh, given the way that CDPR takes forever to put out games as is, I won't worry about it until something starts to actually materialize in like 2030 or so...

Thought y'all might appreciate this fic I just posted, featuring a gay as fuck V telling such to Panam. I do also have another from a few months back where I kinda tear the handling of Kerry's romance a new one. Cuz writing fic is my way of working through my frustrations.

I can’t tell what the story will even be from that trailer really. I don’t know how I feel about a completely new story being added to the game but maybe they’ll tie in to some big unanswered questions in the game, like who is Mr Blue Eyes, what is causing the wave of cyber psychosis across NC, what is happening with the evidence of AI crossing the wall, why does Johnny in our head not experience the monk that takes us on a spiritual/soul quest ( as in Johnny is a VI/AI maybe and not really true blue Johnny). Did rogue work for Arasaka after Johnny’s bomb? Any of these maybe? But probably not.
I worry they are repeating the same lack of judgement that got us the mess of the game we got. Telling the wrong stories and not letting V shine.
thinking about it a bit more: the NUSA govt is basically one an the same with Militech. In the game, Johnny does not remember that Militech and Morgan Blackhand helped him in 2023 blow up AHQ. Even supplying the nuke. There’s a bunch of weird inconsistencies with Johnny’s story in CP2077 vs what we know happened for sure from Maximum Mike and was established as official by CDPR in their first approved TT game. So I guess this DLC could explore that but I don’t know. I doubt it. Hopefully they do explore topics that pertain to the base game and not just introduce us to another “cool” character that takes the spotlight away from V and feels like a side quest.

I don't understand this odd plan to slowly drip info on a dlc for a game that's been out for almost 3 years. Is the dlc really so hard to finish in such a long span of time? Why isn't it already ready and out?
Also still worried it'll all be about the celebrity cameo and not V...which already happened in the main story and I hate that aspect so much!

Why isn't it already ready and out? Also still worried it'll all be about the celebrity cameo and not V...which already happened in the main story and I hate that aspect so much! Yeah, it's weird. Sure, SOME of it, you can attribute to the realities of first the game being shoved out the door in a state that basically required a year and a half to patch it together into a viable version, and then the fact that it launched in the early part of a global pandemic, but... It'll be three years since launch by the time that the only real DLC for the game materializes? That's... kinda nuts. Usually DLC cycles run for a year, and while that has been steadily shifting over the last couple of years, even without acknowledging the liveservice stuff, this is a really weirdly long cycle.
And... Yeah, it seems like they're doing a lot of the same stuff they did with Keanu Reeves with Idris Elba. Which, yes, from a marketing perspective makes sense, celebrity cameos on the level of A-listers is a bankable thing. But the player character being out of focus was definitely one of the biggest issues of the original game, and it doesn't seem like CDPR learned anything.

I honestly couldn't give a shit about all these celebrity cameos. I don't give a shit about the character and who he is and what he does because I don't play the game for random celebrity cameos. I play the game for my V. That's who I care about, not some random characters I might know for a few hours. I had enough of that shit with Johnny taking the spotlight. They're pushing it so hard. It's almost like a shiny 'here focus attention on this celebrity and character and not any broken/bad stuff in the game.' Honestly unless the dlc gives my V a way to live I probably won't play it anyway. Past leaks implies that will be the case in some kooky kinda way but it seems like it's more focused on you doing the Arasaka ending which only works for one of my characters.
