I hope it's not going to get over-hyped in June and then under-deliver during the holiday's...it'll be 2020 all over again. But yeah like you farferello if we don't get a happy ending with the dlc I'm not sure I'll get it. I am so over the current endings to the point where I sometimes think "maybe next time I'll just stop before the ending choice and HC that it just worked out somehow." Even then however a lot of act 2 and 3 are just awkward to deal with. Probably why I always do as much as I can before going to the heist...enjoying all the side content I can without the constant Johnny interrupts-or worse the chip malfunction effect that I swear someone programmed into the game to attack me or someone just like myself.  |

I pretty much have post ending head canon for my two main V's already, so unless the game can improve on them (highly doubtful considering they both involve romances we don't actually get in game  ) I am not sure I will bother with the dlc. I suppose I could make a brand new V to experience it but idk if Kerry (or modded River) is enough for me to go through the game again at this point. Either way I hope it doesn't end up overhyped and failing. |

Sometimes I think about this game and try it but then I think is CDPR, Kerry personality/aesthetic-wise being trash with the game forcing straight shit on you and first person and all my desire to play is vanished haha, if this was the only gayme I have to play I wouldnt mind pirate it and modding River since all lines are there though.
Hope you guys get the happy ending finally, this "I'm too edgy and dark to give happy endings" trope need to end lol real world is enough bad already

I own this game on pc but I still yet to try it, I decided to just wait for the dlc to see if maybe that gives it a bit more meat or options, wishful thinking really, but I rather play the "full"experience on my first run at this point XD. But I still want to play it, if only just to make a sexy V.

Yeah that was such a piss poor answer and it's like they don't realize how gross that makes Kerry's romance in the vibe of 'only going for male presenting V despite being bisexual because he's still hung up on Johnny and can get his rocks off thinking of him when you're fucking.' I mean, points to Kerry for still being there after Johnny has fucked off in the the Sun/Secret ending, so it 'feels' like he got over... that, but I can't help but feel that he and V needed to have a sit down and serious talk about their relationship and the Johnny shaped hole in it. Then again, by that point in the game you've only got months left to live so I guess they ignored the Johnny problem to enjoy the time left.
Even if the dlc fixes the V is dying issue, I still don't like the vanilla romances enough for it to really matter much in the long run to me. All my V's have their happy ever after 'surviving for x/y/z reason' with a non canon love interest.
River is nice enough if you mod/do the fem body but male voice/genitals - but he just doesn't interest me as much. Panam, and Judy appear in the Star ending but both male romances either get nothing, or worse, leave your ass if you do the Star ending.
This game truly was made with the Panam romance and Star ending in mind.
I have done all endings minus suicide/Johnny taking over (because fuck you Johnny) (well, technically did Secret over Sun, but it's almost the same) and whilst they worked for each particular V, the Star one still felt like the 'happier' or most hopeful choice. Even if they did have to stomp all over Saul's corpse so Panam could become leader.  (Which totally didn't happen in my Star ending thank you very much, rip Panam.  *Cough.*Modsarebeautiful*Cough*) |

There's a reason that I'm just at a point that I... do not even seek out Kerry. Like, sure, he cameos in the flashbacks, but as far as V's life goes, Kerry doesn't even appear. Before I settled on taking the Secret/Sun ending, it was a refusal to give Johnny that chance after he asked. Now, though, it's just... not calling Rogue for the date in the first place, so that game flag is never raised in the first place.
Honestly, that developer statement honestly just makes it WORSE in my view, as if saying outright "yep, Kerry's interest in V is because he's got Johnny in his head, not because of who V is." Sure, he'll be there in the ending, but I can't be convinced that, in the time that V has left, Kerry is able to sift through his feelings and work through his feelings for Johnny enough to be ready for a relationship with V.
The whole thing just feels so... superficial, something that may be presented in a "happy ending" fashion, but, in reality, is just so far from being ready and capable of having that, it's really not even worth starting.

The game feels very much like it was designed around very specific things. Mostly a straight male V going for a Panam romance/Star ending, and your V being best friends with Johnny.
Both were pretty noticeable on the last V I played as he fucked over Panam, and hated Johnny. With Panam, at the end of the game, everyone still calls him up acting like he had helped Panam out and that they were best buddies - even though he'd tattled on Panam and stopped her bullshit in its tracks by telling Saul about it. Game just couldn't handle that so at the end it retconned his decisions and acted like he helped anyway. With Johnny, the lack of being able to tell him to fuck off was pretty noticeable. I think there was only one or two moments where my V could truly give him a mouthful over what he thought about him. That V shut down every request Johnny made, refused to take the pills for him, or let him have any sort of control over his body - and right at the end Johnny acted hurt about it, like he was betraying who he was when that V made it very clear at every turn how much he hated him and wanted to get back into Arasaka's good graces. It was ridiculous, like the devs couldn't imagine anyone not wanting to be his best friend.
They also tried so hard to frame the Arasaka ending as the bad and betrayal ending, especially as it's the default ending if you don't do side stuff/shut any other option down, but don't want to take the suicide option. And yeah it might be pretty bad, especially if you don't have Takemura alive, but depending on how you rp'd your V, it could be the best ending for them. For this specific V, it was the best ending for him, and it's still open ended enough to go with the idea that he does get resurrected in the future which currently as it stands, is more than what the other endings get. From leaks I've read about the dlc, things could be interesting in how they change with that, but who knows. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
It just feels like the game really didn't give you enough roleplay opportunity and I wish that your starting path had had more of an impact on things in the long run.

Maybe I’m just in an optimistic headspace, but hey, it’s at least semi-official acceptance of getting the romances all flying queer flags of various flavors. Sure, it’s on Twitter and not in the game itself, but... Let me take my precious few victories.

Thank you kindly! Was glad there are people talking about the fact you can romance him as a male v also. So many people seem to either not know, or just refuse to acknowledge it at all. Even the wiki that finally does have a note of the option is still so half-assed about it. (there's a sentence about it, but the little profile thing still says only female V.  ) |

They should patch River (and Kerry who is canonically bi) as bisexual love interest tbh... this only reads as he only cares about genitals and not the gender lol cause I know that he has every single line recorded for male Vs and if this only happens to him, it was an intentional choice to remove his content from cis mlm Vs or trans f/m Vs, it kinda rubs me the wrong way... I dont know if all the other three romance options have every single line recorded too. But I'm happy you guys found a little light on this mess of a game  that gay River mod is really tempting haha edit. I'm reading that Panam and River do have body type preference unlike Judy and Kerry whom have body type and voice preference. But I'm reading you can have a vagina with male body types and a penis with female body types and Panam and River dont give a ratass about your genitals so this was and I quote Tatiana a choice lmao, it doesnt make sense why these characters are not bi????  |
