The Waylanders is a fantasy RPG from Spanish developer Gato Salvaje, and former Dragon Age creative director Mike Laidlaw is among the staff working on it. Above, you can get a first look at the game in pre-alpha form, narrated by Laidlaw.

The Waylanders has real-time combat with a tactical pause option, and it's inspired by a bunch of RPG favourites, like Neverwinter Nights 2 and Dragon Age: Origins, which you'll probably note from the video. You can play it from a top-down view, or move the camera to third-person, and 12 changeable party formations let you experiment with combat tactics in the game. You'll be able to romance characters, too. In an interesting twist, however, you'll be able to time travel between two different periods.

Choose five adventurers between 20 availables. Each adventurer belongs to one of the four races that we can find in this world: Humans, Lycantropes, Moures and Fomoris. Each race can belong to three guilds: Warriors, trackers and sages. Each adventurer have their own skill, they will have strengths and weaknesses for every type of combat (short, medium and long range) and every type of terrain (woods, grassland and mountains). Take down your enemies, fulfill your goals, control the territory... Your strategy will be what take you to victory.

Emily Grace Buck will be writing the romances, including lgbtq romances. She was a former Telltale alum, and since we all are lgbtq here she is a bi writer, so it seems lgbtq romances are in good hands.

Too soon to know if the game is gonna be lgbtq friendly but hey Mike Laidlaw, let's hope for the best. I like the premise, time travel is fun! And it seems there will be magic and mythical creatures too.

Edit. Oooooooooooohh it's A Coruña-based studio! I hope my people dont let us down about gay content.

Just finished watching that early demo and so far it looks impressive! I wonder how jumping from 1 time-period to another will work in-game and how it will factor into the romances. Also, CC and Gender-Selection too but I dunno if it's too soon to be asking that xD
