Since there was a ton of bisexuality in DA2, scrapping a lot of it in DAI made no sense. Was there that much backlash about it? Oh god yes. You wouldn't believe (actually you probably would) the whining about "four bisexuals? That's SO unrealistic!" EVERY thread. You know, because it's not like queer people come together in groups, like penguins huddling together for warm against the cold, cruel heteronormative world. And there was the whining about Anders being "made" bisexual when he only ever commented about women in Awakening. It was "shoving a political agenda down throats" and rubbish like that. Granted, it wasn't help by BioWare initially being reluctant to acknowledge them as bisexual - they hemmed and hawed and offered them as "playersexual," with an argument along the lines of '[LI] can be gay in one person's game, and straight in another!' Mercifully, they later backtracked and acknowledged "they're bisexual, end of story," but the damage had been done. It basically seems that the attitude is "well, that was a disaster, let's not do that again," rather than treating it as a learning experience of "commit to calling these characters bisexual right from the start." The main problem I see with Bioware is they still bow before the political/she looks like a man crowd of people which makes them change models I liked. Happened with peebees and Sara.

I believe people didn't like the all bi route because reasons such as not realistic etc. Unrealistic how? It offers more player choice. No one is forced to date someone of a sex they're not normally interested in. If they want to avoid companions from flirting, make it so the PC has to wholly initiate things. Dorian, for example, will flirt with a male Inquisitor unprompted.
Taking this back to MEA, you have the option to flirt with Reyes or not. There's that one opportunity to kiss Reyes as a distraction. It's not necessary to do it and regardless of sexuality you can do it or not. Afterward, you can say you meant it in a serious way or not. I just don't see the problem. Besides, if anything, bisexuality is becoming more out in the open so BioWare may as well roll with it.

Oh, last thing. So many straight guys like to play as females just for the f/f romance scenes. Yet, if it's two guys some agenda is being pushed. You know how many guys play as FemShep, Sara Ryder and Female Inquisitor? It's astonishing.

I wasn't saying it was unrealistic, thats just what the bros usually say since anything that is not 1000% straight is to be crushed.

As the undesignated spokesperson for straight guys we play as female characters to stare at their asses/boobs. There is no other reason. Also most straight guys see f/f as hot and m/m as gross. This is the standard viewpoint for pretty much every straight guy I know and I'd say its probably mostly universal. Now for the most part you have to actively try and see the romance content and I can tell you I've never accidentally stumbled into a gay romance in any game I've ever played. For some people I guess its too much its even in the game.

And it's just... okay, yeah, he'll express interest if you're friendly to him, but it's not like you accidentally end up in bed with him, the flirt responses are CLEARLY. MARKED. with a big pink heart, what do you THINK that means? Oh, you don't like it when someone you're not interested in comes on to you, and misreads your kindness as attraction? Imagine that...

Unrealistic in a sense that people don't seem to understand that statistical probability or distribution don't apply to non-random samples of the population. There's a high probability that in a sample from a smaller area all of your outliers are friends, because that's how most friendships are formed. A group consisting almost exclusively of gay and bi people is more probable than a group that looks like a random sample. But I'm suspecting that's just a cover for "too many queers in mah game." The argument that people want representation and not to treat bi characters as stand-ins for all non-heterosexual people is probably far more sensible.

Yeah, I like her as a character, but... BioWare just won't let us forget that they have a boner for the sexy blue space babes. Like, her invitation into the zero-g escape pod is such a BLATANT come on, and Ryder can't refuse to get in with her, and you only get her refrain from the explicit 'let's have sex' if you've locked in a romance with someone else... Gah.

Gah. I mean I'd be lying if I said I didn't like sexy blue space babes but I completely understand how annoying it is to have them shoved in your face if you aren't into that. The escape pod should have only happened if you flirted with her. It would have been the perfect damn thing to do.

Jaal, too, IIRC. All by the straight women, of course. I can't wait until those bitches start to find out their guys are bi. Odds are it's true for at least some of them.

Though I had probably used the gender swap console command. When ME3 rolled around I never even gave a thought to romancing Kaidan before breaking up with her. I always figure that if you don't want an m/m romance, don't do it. Amazingly simple.

I shove her away. I can also ignore her and her LM. Or do her LM and let her annoying ex die.

I really only recently realized how much Liara was shoved in your face since she was my default romance so I loved all the attention.

I remember when you go to the bar with Steve and he mentions something about the guys in the room and you can either agree with him or say I'm into the ladies and that's that. Sooooo hard to deal with that I know, never gave a second thought to that bit of dialogue.

I really only recently realized how much Liara was shoved in your face since she was my default romance so I loved all the attention. Literally, I was trying to romance someone else (or maybe no one) when I found myself in a relationship with her. It was weird.
This is why I tend to have problems with Liara. I like her just fine outside of her possessive need to romance me, but that sort of puts me off. She moves a little too smoothly into wanting to be with you, versus Kaidan and Ash who you have to put some work into.

Yea actually that reminds me of the one time I talked with Ashley a lot and somehow had to pick between her and Liara. 1 was weird in that regard if you were nice to people they wanted to hump you.
